I am a sci-fi enthusiast and a big fan of the original ME: Trilogy.
I think, despite the reviews of the story, that I will enjoy the overall experience of Andromeda. However, EA/BIO mentioned they have many more patches and fixes coming in the near future for Andromeda post 1.05 patch. Even going so far as to say they are going to improve and/or change some of the character interactions and game mechanics. I want to play the game but if the experience is not 'as intended' yet should I wait until the major patches are finished before venturing into this universe again?
I will probably only play through the game one time and keep hesitating because I wonder if my experience will be vastly improved by waiting for additional patches.
Also, as a side note, did patch 1.05 make it possible to save during priority missions?
Thank you for your help dear community, your opinions are valued!

It did not add the ability to manual save during priority missions. Or at least not the one you start in.
If you'll only play through it once, I'd likely wait to see if they plan on adding any DLC that you may be interested in.

Wait until the next patch is out imo. There's some frame rate issues/stuttering to work out and we need the improved character creator that Bioware is said to be working on. Soon as that patch is out, go for it.

Unless you are hugely invested in everything Mass Effect. I'd hold off for a little while. The game definitely lacks polish at the moment, though I will say, if you're a combat enthusiast, this is arguably the strongest in the entire series. My only major gripe with it is not being able to control your squad anymore. But yeah, if you only plan to play through once. Just wait for a price cut.

I really can't say because I can't predict what BioWare will be doing to make changes to the game. I think they made improvements to areas that people had a lot of problems with at launch and a lot of what is left seems to be more isolated problems for not everyone encounters or find they are issues. After the patch today, the game reminds me a lot of the first Mass Effect game for it had its problems that were never fixed.

I appreciate the feedback guys.
Cassandra N1: I have already purchased the game and even started playing it but put it down after a couple hours after losing about an hour of play time due to getting killed on a priority mission. Shortly thereafter I heard about the 1.05 patch and decided to wait.
I suppose it would be nice to have better character customization options because the generic Ryder is not someone I want to look at for 40 hours+ ... Has there been any word on a time frame for any additional updates?
Do I still have to hit escape twice to get back to the game from the mission journal?

I believe the next round of patches is in a couple of months. You would have to hit Esc twice, but you can hit Tab and go back to the game from any of the menus (skills, map, journal, etc).

I am waiting until the CC patch but multiplayer is a lot of fun if you like that.

Depends how long you are willing to wait, and if there is good reason to wait.
Really, there is no point in waiting for patches for this particular game. Because on top of the patches, there will also be future content for it.
So you can't win if you're just looking for a good date on the calendar to start playing because you're only interested in playing it once.
Unless, of course, you want to wait a full year to ensure that they've truly completed the game, there is no point in holding out for a couple of months.
The game is in good shape now. It's not like it's a broken piece of trash.

If you're only going to play it once (and inclined to buy DLC) wait until that's all out.
Otherwise, play it now if you feel like it.
...I mean, I'm probably going to be playing this game off and on for years, but I don't actually like many games that much. So the ones that I do, I tend to keep close. It's not my favorite, but it's pretty entertaining.

Ok I see to many post about, yes buy and play. And there is no major bug. Except if they have not encounter the Nexusbug or did a poor workaround for this bug. The Nexusbug, is a bug that do happen to many ppl Its a bug that will kick you out of the game when you try to leave or enter the Nexus. It comes fairly early for some around 30%-49%, and is the re until you have done about 70% of the game. I stopped play because of this, and it is not fixed in 1.05 patch.

I certainly am. When the CC is improved and the price drops I'll be able to play the game, finish it and say "hmm, it didn't give me cancer, 7/10".

If you going for one playthrough and ultimate game experience, then definitely wait for more patches, because first impressions happen only for the first time. That's exactly what I did with Witcher 3 even though I bought it on the day of release... Still haven't played it though... lol
