Fallout 4. Took some minor quests for the Nuka Raiders. Brought my power armor to Nuka World to use when I decided to wipe out the raider factions. Which is a shame because I like the Operators. The Operators were the least scummy of the scumbags I guess. Or at least sane. Aesthetically I liked the Pack best. But boy, killing the Operator leaders was SO fucking hard for me. Too many enemies in a cramped space. Took me like ten tries. I near rage quit. Really? Took me one try on very hard difficulty (not counting the number of times the game crashed😒. I was around level 50).

I'm back haha ... but just for today played some AC Odyssey the last couple of days and i'm now level 60 and still only 24% or was it 25% in the game. Yes i have done a loooooooooot of side quests those last couple of days. And i was in the arena near Pephka yesterday where i have to kill a certain Cultist and he was level 26/9 ( not 100% sure anymore ) and i was level 59 uh i can tell you'll already that it was a pretty easy fight haha. I think that i have killed at least a hundred Mercenaries and i'm not overreacting here maybe even more then a hundred. Killed the Cyclops ( which was a disappointing fight ) and the Minotaur which gave me the A-Maze-ing Victory! Trophy yay. From time to time i had a lot of fun especially after level 50 but before that it could be really annoying and frustrating at times. And the easy mode is not easy at all. I hope at least that there will be a Story mode or something in NG+ otherwise this would probably my last playthrough. Did like my conversations with Sokrates a lot i hope i will meet him again because i have not seen him in quite some time. Also killed two legendary animals at least they gave me a challenge. Oh and i also killed the complete Eyes of Kosmos Cultists which gave me the I am Legend Trophy again yay. I really like Kassandra though she is one of my most favorite protagonists out there. And i wish you'll a Merry Christmas and already a Happy New Year. Kassandra is BRILLIANT. Merry Christmas to you too @patricia

Happy Holidays for those who celebrate them. Mondays/Tuesdays eh? for the rest of you. --- Had a little picnic with a lady friend in Assassin's Creed Revelations. Then killed a guy who I maybe shouldn't have. Messed around in a wet tower and visited a new place, where I met another, slightly less friendly, lady. Also wrapped up Desmond's memory journeys and not sure if I'm happy or really frustrated about it. Like the story was nice but the gameplay was fairly irritating. I have The Lost Archive, which I'm pretty sure is in a similar style, but not sure I should subject my hair to it. Either way, half way through sequence 7. Might have gotten further but my friend called me off to Minecraft. Where I dug a hole, swam in lava and messed around at our base. Good times.

So I'm watching ATLAS stream by my fav streamer and his friends. They restarted a few times due to server glitches, etc. They finally have a base, many of the streamers' sub joined in to form quite a big group. They found that the resources are not quite respawning so they sailed to find resources at other islands. They found an island already occupied by another big group. While gathering resources, they were having this conversation as one of them said it's his birthday. It's hilarious. Bikeman dropped dead because his avatar was feeling sick from lack of proper vitamins or the cold. It gets very cold at night in the game. Later, out of nostalgia. I went to watch Legion. Yo Legion, Merry Christmas.

Just got The Long Dark (permadeath survival game set in the Canadian North, although the story mode allows for point saves). I am enjoying it a lot (if dying over and over again can be enjoyable.... it's a tough game). Mark Meer and Jen Hale are the VA's.

WoW. Another chance to get my dream shoulders rolled in, so time to try my luck with all plated characters I have (which is only 2). But before that, time to open presents! This year we got special Hearthstone, which surrounds character with small snowstorm and makes it dance, as well as toy armor set to match toy weapon set from last year. Helmet that is basically bucket + broom wins it Oh, and still no luck with shoulders. Alldos. Thanks to A LOT of raffle tickets, I got Core Morpher, which allows me to change class of my main protagonist and Incarnations every 10 minutes for a week. So time to experiment with max level classes! Turned out I can make Aoidos out of this transformation, so I'm seriously considering changing my main character into Aoidos. But Priden are too cute. Also got a bit drunk yesterday and got myself a chariot. Now that I'm sober... I don't regret a thing. Vrooooooooooooooooooom, out of my way! I also felt extremally nostalgic (damn you Steam and showing me Maple Story 2 in recommended) and installed Maple Story. Turns out my old account still exsists, but with no characters of mine I used to love this game, and if not for developers' negligence when it comes to account safety, I bet it would be one of my go-to MMOs. But when you're getting hacked and robbed whenever you admit you have expensive items (aka you want to sell them), you get disheartened. Still, it's one of those games that - despite all bad - I still have very fond memories of and couldn't resist installing it again after years of absence. Well, this game is as cute as I remember. Watch me drawing mushrooms from it till the end of my days Last but not least, I'm almost done with Jotun. One more boss fight left. This game is beautiful, but sometimes, just sometimes, controls drive me crazy. That's what you get for playing on controller when you're totally not used to them

I've been on a gaming hiatus of late. After finding out the the original Star Wars Battlefront is available on Xbox One, I definitely needed to play it again and I'm having a blast. I had all kinds of trouble with the Endor mission. Finally I said to hell with it and stole an AT-ST from the Empire and camped out a spawn area. The enemy needs to kill you at least once to win. I'm pretty sure an Ewok repaired my AT-ST for me mid battle, I didn't realise Ewoks were so mechanically inclined. LOL. 94 Kills 0 Deaths Thank you my Ewok friend.

So wrapped up Assassin's Creed Revelations today, very festive. End was pretty fun, liked the company. Finally hit the section that I was spoiled on and it was a bit anti climatic. But with the lack of fanfare it got, I actually think it was better that someone tattled. Then installed The Lost Archives and turns out it had an optimal tomb in it. So did that and upgraded two of my apprentices to master assassins. There is one left, but since I'm not really planning on 100% this, they'll just stay almost masters. The tomb was okay. Then to the main part of the dlc. And if the bloody thing worked, it would have been okay. But someone decided that they needed to faze through the cubes they created and die. Over and over and over. So many festive curses for that bout. Otherwise it was pretty decent. Would have liked a bit more chatting, but it was nice. Knew the twist from both the game before and may also have glanced at it when looking up other stuff. But the main piece was nice. So decent dlc, if the damn protagonist would do what I told him and not die. >:C Then started up Assassin's Creed 3. It looks really nice is the first thing I'll say. Got another spoiler when I wanted to see if it was Fenris chatting me up at the opera. But at least it was nice knowing I was right on the voice... Did the first two bits and then got on a boat. Wandered around below deck, chatted a little, said "Awww heck no" to the game options below and crossed fingers they wont be required in the game. Then went above deck. Suspected something was wrong when the men started flickering across the deck, got a bit alarmed when that one guy started shaking like mad from his seat and got my suspicions confirmed when Kenway dropped a level below deck (in a cage where he belongs) and then heard the splashing as presumably the other fellows fell further and into the ocean. Good times.
So turned off the game to look up a solution and found none. Fabulous. So started the game again and made it off the ship with some minimal flickering. Did around three missions in sequence two. Reloading the pistol takes way too long and it's hard to adjust to using E for counters instead of the right mouse button. Otherwise it was pretty nice. Kenway get's around +20 points for being able to pet/feed all the animals. Except for horses I guess. Otherwise he'd gotten a +30.
Then decided to check outside the animus because it kept telling me I had mail. So start chatting to the characters and Desmond starts talking to one of his old buddies and asks something along the line of "Are you going to hit me again? This time I will hit back." Well the bastard did one better and crashed the game, thus ending the session. Had quite a lot of fun, but oh dear this is a buggy one.

No gaming the last two days due to illness (yay for holiday weekends? ) but got back to BGEE this evening. Cleared the last coastal area, met The Surgeon (Daveorn's brother) and rescued a nymph/sirine from an ogre mage. Then headed inland to what turned out to be basilisk country. Used the friendly ghoul to kill the first batch and take out Mutamin, de-stoned the one statue I could, then cleared the rest of the area. Died once because my protection from petrification spell wore off just as I was attacking another one.
Now I'm undecided whether to side trip to Durlag's Tower (I don't think I've ever completed that area but I don't recall for sure) or head north to hunt bandits.

I don't really remember having many issues with bugs in AC 3 so I hope it settles down for you. Are you aware at all of the story of AC3 as I don't want to spoil anything but it was the first AC game I played and I loved it and it got me playing the others. As part of AC Odyssey purchase (Gold Edition) you get a remastered version of it but it isn't available yet but I can't wait to replay it. Merry Christmas

In Mafia 3, I took over the area next to the hallow, and gave it to Casandra. Next, I started to work on the downtown for Vito (my personally favorite character).
I have been using the suppressed smg from Casandra a lot. Though I do want the suppressed pistol from Vito more. The smg isn't nearly as accurate as I'd like. Though the ammo for it is plentiful.

dazk Pretty much blind on the story, except I knew the main guy was supposed to be called Connor, he could pet cats and was a bit of a tit when it came to wasting things while hunting. The bugginess seems to have calmed down for now, except for Kenway trying to mate with some barrels in todays (very long) session it was for the most part bug free. ---- So wrapped up sequence 2 in Assassin's Creed 3 and had a pretty bad time at it, because all the wrong fellows responded to my wolf whistles, mucking things up. Still nothing rage worthy, just a push to do things better. But the carriage ride was pretty nice, liked the whole teamwork of getting there.
Also had troubles with Sequence 3, until I looked it up and realized I could use fisticuffs. Since they had lost me my non lethal objectives in the former games, I hadn't dared risking it, but once I found out I could just choke a lad, things became a lot simpler. Kenway still added a challenge by being a twit and constantly popping out of his hiding place. So at parts he was the one I longed to choke. Was disappointed I could not hug those cute raccoons. The rabies would have been worth it in my mind. Kenway also refused to pet the turkey. Maybe he was as spooked as me when I thought it was a fellow praying. Desmond disappointed me by not hitting the old man. He said he'd do it in the session before >:C. But the session with him was fun. Got reminded of Vampire Bloodlines the Masqurade during that little trip section. Mostly just of the time spent lurking in Downtown hunting for food. Granted this time he was a bit higher up, but still. And then Connor turned up! And that is the point where the game really lost it luster for me. Going to put the rest in spoilers since it's mostly just angry ranting but I need to vent. And there are also some spoilers so. I really dislike him. Or well, I really have no feelings for him, so when he decides to be a twat and not do as he's told, he has no charm to keep him endearing. And when he disobeys time and time again, that irritation builds up. Then I try to vent the way I normally do and end up with a bunch of spoilers not even connected to him. The pain of arriving in a series late I guess.
That river sequence was especially annoying. Since I'd been 100% it until now. So making it too the end, only to have him stop and freeze like a drooling moron, or getting delayed by a wolf so I couldn't aim at the log and then in the cutscene he just jumps in the water. So why not just make it "don't fall in the water until you reach the final log" or something because that fool is going to get himself wet in the end no matter what. So by the time I made it, I just wanted to drown them both. In lava. >:C
Then the 100% ended either way once a boat got involved. Because I aint staying on a boat in this game longer than I absolutely have too. But I guess it made the later quests a bit less annoying. So yay?
But kept playing and made it to sequence 6. Where I found one good thing about Connor. It's lovely to make him go berserk on the streets with a tomahawk. Since he's absolutely useless at stealth, it's just fantastic to hack away that rage on those annoying guards. So that is one plus for him. Especially when they get all prissy because he dared to enter a back alley where NOTHING was happening either way.
Ended the session by spilling some tea. And he does get one plus for that smug little look he gave the three monkeys across the pier. Then I'm guessing the next session will be more fun with the tomahawk. Yay. Hoping I'll be in a bit better mood as well, since it's not normal how wound up this part got me.
BUT. I'm not saying that the game is bad. I had some fun. Just needed to vent. Also guess it's a bit of a theme, since Brotherhood also wound me up. So chill, rage, chill, rage I guess. TL:DR Had fun in Assassin's Creed 3. Got mad. Ranted. Good times.

Got mad. Ranted. Good times. Hey Curious Crow I am glad the bugginess has eased. I think I was lucky coming to this game as my first AC because I had no preconceptions about how it worked and that probably helped. I am going to write about game mechanics and Connor but I'll spoiler it in case you don't want to read it. This game has some terrible gameplay mechanics, there is one where you have to follow people and stay out of sight but within a circle that represents listening range. It's hard but roof tops are your best friend, same for stealth Connor works best from above in trees or on rooftops. He is the least stealthy of all the assassins or rather the game makes it harder with the way its designed, you absolutely have to accept you are gong to fail some missions just to learn what you need to do to complete it successfully. I find that annoying but it is an unfortunate fact of the game. Also in regards to stealth you rely on eagle vision more in this game than any other. Scope a place with your eyes and then plan how you are going to do it, then eagle vision, eagle vision eagle vision, cause things often change rapidly. The good thing is if you can master parry you are 90% there to taking down a whole fort in Melee, just try not to be in the open cause you'll get shot. Don't be afraid to leave a fort (run away ) and comeback in a couple of minutes. When trying to clear a place by stealth, it really is a slowly slowly approach. Do they have warning bells, I can't remember. If they do disable them first. In NY and Boston the underground was for me a nightmare I only once tried to map the whole thing. Re Connor what people seem to miss is when you first meet him he's a teenager, we all know what they are like and his people are experiencing a terrible time with colonisation. All I'll say is if he didn't start out as a know it all, surly teenager how would he develop throughout the game. I am hoping by the end even though, maybe you still won't like him but you'll respect him as you are about to find out there are a lot of complexities in his life. I think he is a great character and the best thing is he can climb the hell out of just about anything. As a non-American I found the game really interesting to play from a history perspective, I mean who doesn't want to play bowls with George Washington When you get access to the trading system its well worth the time to learn how it works and make yourself big bucks and fun inventions. Sailing will play a big part in the game, try to enjoy it and learn it cause there will be lots in the next game which I rate as the best of the lot and I think you'll like Edward a lot. If you go to the end of this I really hope it didn't sound "preachy" and that I know it all I don't just trying to help. Feel free to PM me questions if you have them and I'll answer if I can remember. Oooh PS I hope you'll enjoy exploring the wilderness especially the bobcats. You are going to have to do a lot of QTE's but if I remember correctly each animal has their own or two separate ones that they repeat. And make sure you do the quests re things like The Headless Horseman, UFO sighting, Bigfoot etc. They are quite fun in my opinion. Also the game has sleep darts if I remember correctly they are a god send!!!!!!

Callsign: Colt 4 (-1 and -2) Aircraft: 2x F/A-18C Hornet Task: Interception Armament: 6x AIM-7M Sparrow, 2x AIM-9M Sidewinder
Other callsigns in AO: Pontiac (4x F-14A Tomcat, BARCAP, aprox. 50nm north of TF Challenger) Wizard (1x E-2A Hawkeye, AWACS, orbiting near TF Challenger) Texaco (1x S-2, A2A refueling, orbiting near TF Challenger)
Bandits in AO: 4x Tu-22 (attacking TF Challenger with anti-ship missiles) 4x Su-24M (attacking TF Challenger with anti-ship missiles) 2x MiG-29 (escorting Su-24M)
So, we were actually doing the Alert Five, meaning we were on Cats 1 and 2, standing by with our planes ready to rock. Before we actually took off (before the order came, anyway) I took my time setting up my ALE-47. RWR and countermeasures dispensers. When the order came, I saluted the shooter and enjoyed the shoot, with the bandits maybe 40nm off Mom's 1 o'clock, in the weeds. We had intel that Pontiac was already engaging some more bandits and their vampires to the north, which left the ones to the east for us. A quick lock-on later, I just decided to give one of the MiGs a Fox 1, but it presumably got spoofed. By that time, we merged, so I switched over to the 9Mike for shorter range and maneuvered onto one of the MiG's tail for a Fox 2, which actually hit. By then, the area was shit hot with the Task Force launching SM-2s at bandits left and right - with Colt flight right in the middle of it. Anyway, in the barrage of missiles, the MiG actually couldn't keep flying with the missile strike. Splash one bandit. I have no idea what happened to all the Su-24s and the other MiG, but at the time I presumed my wingman (whose missiles I saw launching even before I started) got some and the fleet wiping most of them, but I saw a lone Su-24 trying to get away on my radar screen. I locked it up, pointed my boresight at the ideal launch vector the HUD gave me, and gave him a Fox 1. Few seconds later, splash another bandit.
That's actually when the action ended. We stayed up for good thirty minutes longer, circling the fleet to make sure noone else would try anything, occasionally asking Wizard for a bogey dope, but all he gave us was somewhere way over the mountains, and we weren't ready to go feet dry that day. When our fuel hit 4000lb, I gave the order for RTB and we turned out to come home right around the time Pontiac was landing. Seeing four Tomcats enter the pattern by staggered twos and land is something to behold alright. Colt 4-2 was fifth to land, and I went in last. Too damn low, they told me, and the LSO asked how the hell I graduated. Even I thought that would be a bolter and slammed the throttle all the way to afterburners (that's standart anyway), but I actually caught 4 wire.
In the end, I splashed two. My wingman surprisingly didn't hit anything (though not for a lack of trying) and the fleet got the rest. With Pontiac getting a grandslam of their own in the north, it was an afternoon of good mood (if not good drinks) all around.
And now we're wondering what's happening next. TF Challenger was here as a show of force, not to start engaging OPFOR, but the Georgian conflict seems to have escalated...

Alright, second mission!
Callsign: Colt 4 Aircraft: 2x F/A-18C Hornet Task: Close Air Support Armament: 8x (4x2) Mk-20 Rockeye anti-armor cluster bomb, 2x AIM-7M Sparrow, 2x AIM-9M Sidewinder
Other callsigns in AO: Pontiac (4x F-14A, Air Superiority over AO) Uzi (2x F/A-18C, SEAD in support of strike package) Wizard (1x E2A Hawkeye, AWACS, orbiting near TF Challenger) Texaco (1x S-2, A2A refueling, orbiting near TF Challenger)
Bandits in the AO: Undisclosed amount of presumed MiG-29 reported by Pontiac
Alright, so for the second mission, it was snowing on the deck. With preparations complete, they put us on the Cats (this time 3 and 4) with some anti-armor ordnance in the form of Rockeyes. Basically, you drop them, they burst open at a preset altitude and pepper the target area with bomblets. Very effective. May leave UXOs. Not our problem.
So we shoot off the Cats and regroup at around angels 10, en route to target. When we finally rally, Uzi flight starts calling out the SAMs they found and engaged using AGM-88C's. They actually did a very good job, since no missiles were ever fired at us. Key word being missiles. Pontiac is off God-knows where with their Tomcats, and we have no problem with that - air superiority is maintained, alright.
Above the target, I give order to 4-2 to break off and engage BMP-2 IFVs trying to support an assault across a river (being amphibious, they probably want to cross the river before deploying infantry). 2 reports success and I go in behind him, but thanks to some pretty mean A2A fire, I miss my opportunity to strike and have to climb back to set up a reengagement. That's when I notice enemy helos nearby and switch to 9Mikes to engage. Switching is a matter of quarter second - the thumb switch on both my stick and the real stick allows you to just press it in a particular direction. Master Mode automatically switches to A2A and your weapon is selected - for me, switch left is AIM-9 variants, switch up is AMRAAM variants, switch down is Sparrow variants and switch right is gun, but not all weapon types are carried at all times, which means the switch can bring your bird into a mode to fire a weapon you're not carrying - so it's trivial. I fire off a pair of missiles at one of the helicopters (identified as Mi-24 attack helos) and one of them hits. Being known as a flying tank, and the Sidewinder having a small warhead, that means I can't count him as splashed, but those guys aren't coming back for another pass on friendlies.
With that particular helo out of the immediate fight, I go back to A2G mode and find the BMP-2s approaching the river. HUD's in CCIP for this... Pickle! With the Georgians asking for CAS, we don't have good JTACs on the ground to give me a BDA, however, and on the egress, a Shilka decides to take a pot shot. My Master Caution goes off like it's 4th of July at that moment, with alerts to flight control systems, fuel and flaps shown on the left DDI. My fuel's leaking alright, I swear I had good six thousand pounds a few seconds ago, and suddenly I'm down to three and a Fuel Low warning. With Mom on the far side of the battlefield, I level out and go for a level bomb run - ineffective at low altitude with bomblets, but I'd rather make small dents in their armor and give the crews something to think about than nothing at all.
I find the nearest group of enemy MBTs and dump whatever bombs I have left right on top of their head. After all, I'm scramming. Now, same problem as with the BMPs that got me into this mess in the first place: No good JTACs on the ground means no BDAs. As I egress popping flares and chaff (standart thing, you never know what's launching out of your field of view that the RWR can't detect) and hear 2 report he's ejecting. Good luck down there. Me, I'd rather make it back to Mom, even with a fuel leak and something screwy going on with FCS.
I go into nav mode but keep my Master Arm on to jettison the now-empty external fuel tank on my centerline. Two buttons and a turning knob (Choose the centerline with a button, rotate the knob to stores and press the jettison button) to do that is all. Some five minutes later, I'm over the Task Force with maybe a thousand pounds left in the tank, which is odd enough. I went into fuel conservation right after I went feet wet and on the last mission it took about 30 minutes of flying on Military power to go down from 8k to 4k. Turns out that's enough for two approaches onto the Stennis, our carrier and Mom. First one, thanks to a poor approach (I'll just chalk that down to flaps) has me good twenty feet above the deck, so I egress and try again. The second one, unfortunately, is a bolter with no more than 150 pounds left. That means those two approaches were around 400 pounds of fuel each. I maneuver aft of the carrier and pull the ejection handle...
...let me tell you, they pulled me out twenty minutes ago and I'm still shaking. That water is FUCKING COLD.
Good news is, they told me that 2 found some Georgians before he found some Russians and they'll be launching a Seahawk to pick him up. Someone also made a tally of our kills. Between the both of us, we successfully crippled the company of BMPs and damaged some MBTs.
Now if you don't mind, I'll go shiver under my blanket, and someone made me a steaming hot cup of tea. Surprising, I had no idea my squadron noticed I don't do coffee.

Bioshock 2 and Minerva's Den
This is going to be long post. I've a lot to say about these games - if you're in the mood for a long read, carry on. If you're one of those TL;DR types stop right here. The gist is that Bioshock 2 is a great game and the criticisms that coincided with it's release were totally unwarranted. ________________________________
You know that moment when game developers use terms like "broadening the game's appeal" "expanding our base" "reaching out to a wider audience" or that single dread word "streamlining"? Remember how something inside you dies when you hear these terms - because you know all too well that 'broadening the game's appeal', and 'streamlining' are just another name for totally dumbing down the game's systems, or even removing them entirely in order to make it more appealing to the super-casual crowd of non-gamers who just want to run around blasting enemies in an arcade-style environment for 20 minutes before going out?
But occasionally, it is possible to streamline some of the game's systems without actually dumbing it down. Sometimes you can even streamline certain clumsily or convoluted systems while actually increasing the game's overall complexity. Bioshock 2 is one such rare example.
Bioshock 2, despite receiving rave reviews from critics was not particularly well received by fans. It's hard to pin down precisely what their problem was, as most of the complaints made were entirely chimeric in nature. I suspect that at it's core the fans who complained were just suffering from a kind of "original is best, we didn't ask for a sequel" syndrome.
It's a shame, because Bioshock 2 is actually a terrific game. If I'm honest with myself I have to admit that I slightly prefer it to the original. There I said it.
To compare the two games, some explanation of how they work is required for the benefit of those who have never played them:
The basic nuts and bolts of both games take the form of a non-linear, story-driven hybrid shooter set within a decaying underwater city who's residents have mostly turned into psychotic killers with strange powers. The games allow a combination of standard weapons and Plasmids. Plasmids are basically space magic. They are powered by a system called Eve which is mana in all but name. Eve is replenished by injecting potions, drinking certain items, or by equipping certain tonics which allow it to be leached from enemies. The plasmids themselves are a standard combination of elemental attacks, traps and utility spells.
Getting hold of a plasmid requires a kind of 'currency' called Adam, The only real source of Adam in the game are the Little Sisters - creepy, conditioned/mentally reprogrammed female children who harvest the stuff from dead bodies in the area. Each child is accompanied by a Big Daddy guardian. Killing the Big Daddy creates a binary choice - you can either rescue or harvest the Little Sister; but given the stark nature of the choice (either kill a helpless child, or rescue her) it's not really much of a dilemma. Harvesting gives more Adam over the short term, but rescuing reaps long term rewards. The Big Daddies are initially a very challenging foe, requiring powerful weapons, strategy and not a little luck to overcome. But as the game progresses and you become more powerful, they become increasingly easier to handle. By the final quarter of the game they are fairly trivial opponents.
The weapon systems are basic and self-explanatory and contain all the basic tropes of pistol, shotgun, machine gun, grenade launcher, crossbow etc. Though there is alternate ammo available for all weapons which increases their usefulness in particular situations. Ironically the basic melee weapon (Bioshock's wrench and Bioshock 2's drill) are the most powerful by far - though boosting them requires significant investment in tonics and research. Tonics are the third system within the game, and are basically equipable items that provide a constant passive benefit, which can be either combat or utility focused. There are more tonics available than you have free slots to use, so deciding upon your particular 'build' largely comes down to the tonics you choose to equip.
The fourth of game's main systems is research. Equipping a camera or video camera and filming the various enemies you encounter gradually reveals new insights about them, allowing you to exploit their vulnerabilities - and ultimately allowing you access to a tonic that will mimic their abilities These research tonics tend to be the most useful.
So that's the nuts and bolts stuff out of the way - and it's in this area that most of Bioshock 2's main criticism lands.
Bioshock 2 was accused of 'dumbing down' the game's systems. Examples included the fact that key plasmids require far less Adam to purchase, typically costing 90 in the first game and only 40 in the sequel - meaning you could become more powerful far more quickly for a fraction of the cost. There's a story-based reason for this - given that you play as an ordinary man in Bioshock, and as an actual Big Daddy in Bioshock 2, who are already intrinsically based upon Adam research, thus requiring far less Adam to upgrade - but it still seems like a dumbing down.
Actually though Bioshock 2's method of acquiring Adam is considerably more difficult and risky. The first game had you: Kill a Big Daddy, Rescue or harvest the Little Sister Repeat until all Little Sisters in the chapter had been rescued or harvested.
...and that was it - the Adam was yours.
Bioshock 2, by contrast requires you to: Kill the Big Daddy Adopt the Little Sister. Use her to locate suitable corpses for harvesting Set her harvesting the corpse Fight a horde mode battle against waves of incoming foes from all directions while you do your best to keep her safe. Repeat until two corpses are harvested. Get the Little Sister to safety Decide whether to rescue or harvest her. Repeat until all Little Sisters in the chapter are rescued or harvested. When the final one is rescued/harvested fight a mini-boss in the form of a Big Sister - the toughest and most terrifying enemy in the game.
Then, and only then did you have enough Adam to purchase the available plasmids. Compared to this, the lower Adam cost seems like a pretty minor issue.
Many people also complained about the need to actually harvest the corpses yourself using the Little Sister and the subsequent horde mode battle; but I found it great fun. For one thing it gives you the chance to use all those trap-type weapons and plasmids to your advantage. Many games give you access to things like mines, tripwires, traps etc. But if you're anything like me you'll find them highly situational. It's often more effective and economic to just shoot the bad guys with your conventional guns. But these defensive battles allow such weaponry to really come into it's own. Rigging up a room with rivet tripwires at the entry points, proximity mines and electrified tripwires over pools of water and mini turrets. Hacking the security system to target enemies rather than you - then putting down a bunch of Plasmid traps that launch foes up into the air, send out swarms of bees, fry them in pools of oil is just an incredible amount of fun. Planning out your trap based on the environment, getting your traps to work in harmony with each other - and then launching the whole thing - watching those splicers come running to their doom - hurled bodily into the air, landing in electrified water, blown to smithereens, or attacked by swarms of furious bees is extremely satisfying. Sometimes you'll get it just right, and survive the fight without a scratch; other times you'll screw up and leave a vulnerable path for enemies, so that you only barely survive the fight - but it's all part of the learning curve.
Other complaints were focused on how the tonics were 'dumbed down'. The first game had categorised tonic slots based on combat, strength, engineering etc. The second just allowed to to slot them anywhere. But the slots are still limited, and you still have to decide which ones you wish to use. More to the point, the tonics in Bioshock 2 are considerably harder to obtain. Some of the big ones in Bioshock could just be created instantly at a crafting station. Bioshock 2's all require hard research; and some of the lesser ones are located in locked, or out-of-the-way locations, requiring a great deal of exploration, and generally poking into every obscure nook and corner in order to locate. The research requirements can be very tight too. There's only eight Big Sisters in the entire game. Forget to film just one of them and you can forget every getting hold of that Drill Vampire tonic - the one that leeches health back from enemies when using the drill.
That's long enough for now. I'll write a bit about the game's story a bit later.

Finished Doom II, somehow. For the first time without cheating (on 4/5 difficulty. Well had to watch YT vids a few times to find keys! but I mean no ID''' cheat codes. 10s levels were very interesting. Early 20s ones, not so much, but from 27 onward it became super interesting again. Well actually kept this mission for later. Who has patience to do this level?!

You'd be hard pushed to find a more difficult official Doom 2 map in the vanilla game. It's almost at Plutonia Experiment level of difficulty. The two Mancubus traps, which see you locked in a room with around five of the damned things on a platform above you is notoriously punishing, as is the final exit room packed with Pain Elementals and that one final Archvile. There's no real trick you can use to make things easier in that final room - you've little choice but to just duke it out and hope to replenish your health afterward. A lot of people say they have trouble with The Living End, but personally I've always found that one quite straightforward to beat. There's plenty of traps, but all can be mitigated using the environment to your advantage as long as you are familiar with the map and know what to expect. That last Cyberdemon is always good for a few jump scares, when it catches new players by surprise. You can actually just run past it, but I like to get 100% kills - so I run to the teleporter in the slime below, port myself back to the starting area and use the many pillars for cover while I snipe at it from a distance with the plasma rifle. To be honest, the fact that modern source ports allow free mouse look effectively trivializes Icon of Sin, as it's now easy to hit the brain with your rockets. Back in the old days though - I remember a whole bunch of us all stuck on Icon of Sin wondering how the hell to beat it.

So my Maple Story continues. I spent hours creating different characters and deleting them. If it was any other time, I'd not bother deleting some of them, but right now one new character can get Tera Burning buff, which doubles levels you're getting, but only on one character. So it was hard choice, especially with the number of classes MS has. *grandma's voice on* Back in my days, when I started, there were only Explorers and Cygnus Knights, and even then it was 10 playable classes. Now? I don't even dare to count. Anyway, I boiled it down to two characters: Luminous - mage archetype, and Demon - warrior archetype. I remembered them both fondly from my time and I'm pretty sure these were my highest level characters before my account went thru spring cleaning (turns out they split Global into NA/EU at one point and - since I used rarely used mail on that account - didn't get notification to move my characters). In the end my hate for mana management won and I created Demon. Funny how everything returns to you even after years of not playing. Map grew, a lot, but the parts that used to be there before I remembered really quickly. And these are fond memories, even when all I did on some of them was farm. As for UI changes. I squealed with joy when I actually saw Auction House! Seriousy, it used to be such a hussle to sell anything, and two times I saved for merchant stand were two times I got hacked... So yay for AH! Plus it's easier to find quests on your level, there are event pop-ups, they added boss party search... in short, quality of life changes. On the other hand, since I missed a lot of new content, there's a lot of quests, special missions, deliveries, and I'm starting to lose track. Once I hit higher levels and slow down with leveling, I'll have time to clean it up. But for now, I accept what I can. At one point I got pop-up for dungeon questline that I remembered very well, since I finished it on multiple characters . Turned out it's not the same dungeon, but continuation of the story from that time. With the most beautiful princess in Mushroom Kingdom There's also this reference. I died when she started recreating scene from "Do you want to build a snowman"

Monster Condo was indeed its toughest level in the last 5 levels minus the final boss. It seems I'm fast enough on Ultra-Violence to dodge most of those red or green fireballs (and often Arachnotrons')! But there was too many Mancubus, hell knights and other tough ones in that level. Had to use BFG9000 for the 5 mancubus tho (also another 5 in the other similar area), there was no other choice. Archviles are easy to beat if you're not in the open with no barriers. The last one was a surprise tho and had to put it down with the plasma gun.
Yeah, other than that cyberdemon and a few Barons which you could just skip there wasn't much difficulty in level 29 (or maybe I got too tough)! You could easily use portals and walls to your advantage. Just tried to see if you could shoot the Icon of Sin from the highest ground and it wasn't possible. It seems you're supposed to use that elevator in front of the platform. Probably I had finished DOOM II a few times b4, probably with cheat... cuz I remember shooting the IoS with shotgun! And might try TNT: Evilution and The Plutonia Experiment for the first time later.
