So New Vegas.
Decided to start randomly exploring, wanted to see what all the fuss was about so I went to Helios 1.
Things were going fairly smoothly when I fell down the side of a wall and got stuck up some piping. One reload later and sure enough I had to start going back up right from the start.
Interesting quest though. For some reason I had to attack a bunch of NCR guard dogs, which wasn't fun, but then clearing out the robots with my cowboy repeater was. Had three choices at the end... and chose to redistribute the power evenly. Wonder if Mr. House will have something to say about that.

So finally got to play some Crysis 2 yesterday, got a fair bit done. Went to a building to get an upgrade and got ambushed by CELL troops and Ceph, went for a swim when the glass windows holding back some water cracked and linked up with Delta team and Chino again. Lockhart losing the plot and the windows about to be shattered Blew up a building ad was about to be killed but was saved by a train killing the alien about to kill me!!!! Building exploding, Alien, Train Then met up with Gould and General Barclay and fought a couple of the hardest fights, one in Grand Central to cover an evacuation and one at night on a street block to hold back a a wave of Ceph and both included Pingers, they are tough to fight. Another spore spear, this time the nano-suit reprograms it to kill the aliens Then off to a couple of my favourite maps, Rooseveldt Island and The Prism but it requires Alcatraz jumping out the back of a plane!!!! colfoley I think you'd really like these maps, some good Sniper opportunities.

So New Vegas. Made it out to Camp Forelorn Hope and Hoover Dam today. And in the process I actually picked up three quests at the same time. I tell you it is something that seems to be unique to Fallout just how hard it is to find quests sometimes. My normal method of 'see exclamation point, run over to talk, even if in the middle of a quest' seems to have failed me since there are no exclamation points. So I try and go for the 'any named NPC' approach and they don't get all of them.
Well first up had to go find out who is stealing medical supplies. So had to go out and...well wait. For a long time...two waiting periods actually. And then he just snuck on by and even though I was hitting the button to talk to him, so I gave chase, and used my knowledge of medicine to determine that yes, he was indeed using the product. And then started mouthing platitudes so I turned him in just in case.
Then it was a quartermaster job I didn't do...yet.
And also going to all the Ranger stations in the region to make sure their codes are updated since the come officer at Forelorn Hope thinks the Legion is listening in. Hopefully this gives me an excuse to do more exploring and stuff.

Played a bit of Sims 4 today. Was playing a family with a few cats and got this little gem. Cats are such flexible beasts. Also had another fun event with a father and his toddler. The father was taking a bath then queued him to potty train his kid once he was done. Very well he finishes his bath, steps out of the tub, spins into his clothes, then spins back out of them, spins into them and so on. Maybe 10 times until I X the potty training out of his queue. He stops spinning. Tell him to go back in the bath in case he didn't feel finished or something. Then x that out and he gets dressed. Put the potty training back into the queue and again he starts spinning in and out of his clothes. So end up having the mother go to take over potty training duties while instructing him to walk away from the bathtub. That he could do with no fuss. And thus he managed skip potty training duties. Clever boy.

POE II Deadfire Well well, it looks like the player must take the step to recruit the last two companions if they want them. No more pushing them right at the player from the onset. Since both belonged to factions I don't want to support, I'm not inclined to pick them up. However, Pell's quest is personally linked to her so I'm likely to take her. Not Maia though I know I can sabotage her quest which is faction, not personal. To be on the safe side, I'm not taking her. Besides, I never like her attitude towards the Huana who are the natives of Deadfire. By rights, Deadfire belonged to the Huana since they have occupied it for centuries. It's possible to open Maia's eyes to what her own people are doing though, that they're wrong. Tekehu finally professed interest in the Watcher after a suitable long period of association. That is heck of a lot better than the five minutes introduction slam dunk. If they changed his, I'm sure they changed Maia's too because she's as slam dunky as him before the patches.

Van Helsing Final Cut
Got steam key very cheap from some guy almost a year ago and never had the urge to try it, untill last night. There are better ARPG games for sure, but so far, it has interesting story and very good and funny banter with Katarina. Skills system is also interesting (similar to PoE IIRC). Started to play as Hardcore Elementalist on Normal difficulty and reached Borgovia hideout. Will see how it goes from there.

Fallout 4. Some background info on my character. Alyssa as a child was a tomboy, always helping out her dad in the garage with working on cars or out in the woods hunting. Like a good patriot, she enlisted in the military after high school during the Resources War. Thanks to her marksmanship with a rifle, she was sent to sniper school and was at the top of the list. Later she was part of a special forces unit, their task was to take out high ranking military and political leaders behind enemy lines. The goal was to destroy the moral of the soldiers by having their leadership taken out, no one was safe from the might of the American military. She was successful in many missions to take out enemy leadership but she was starting to have doubts about the war. She was feeling more like an assassin than a patriot in the military. Her next mission was to take out General Jingwei. During the moment of truth her hand flinched, the shot went astray and hit one of the general's aids. Alyssa and her partner barely escaped with their lives from that mission. After this, General Jingwei was heavily guarded and impossible to get at. During her debriefing with her one and only mission failure, the top brass appeared to be understanding and forgiving. The next day she received orders to being reassigned to the front line as a mechanic. (Her power armor, crafting skills knowledge) Here she saw the real horrors of war as the wounded and dead kept coming through her base. Her disillusion with the war, the military and the government increased during her time at the front line. One good thing came from her being stationed there, meeting her future husband. After the war they got married and started a family, things were going good in her life finally. Then that fateful day in October happened... Watching her husband being killed, her baby taken and waking up to seeing the world she knew being burnt to a crisp, has left her unhinged. Finished the Silver Shroud quest finally. Rescued Kent from the raider scum. He was shaken from his ordeal and was going to quit but Alyssa talked him into staying on the path and help out against the evil in the world. The Silver Shroud! On her way to meet with Dick Tracy to finally tell him about her ordeal with Kellog, she stopped to get a haircut. She went with the wild look, she did away with her good wife/mother look. She is also taking on a more raider look. After Meeting Vick they went to the Memory Den to get some info from Kellog's brain. They found out that an Institute scientist escaped and headed to the Glowing Sea. Time to build some radiation tolerant power armor. Cowering raiders will be shown no mercy, Alyssa is not the type to take prisoners Stop running you cowards.

So New Vegas:
Gosh darn this game is so frustrating. I mean I want to like it, I suspect there is a really neat game here with a lot of interesting story and philsophical beats and the Mojave somehow seems more lively then Boston...but then I get stuck up a cliff...or fall into the world...or the game wigs out and saves while I am fallen into the world. And since this game does not have modern auto save conventions it could get really...frustrating...really fast...I mean I know the last is tecnically my problem but I don't know how much time I had to waste last night reloading or FTing back to Vault 22 so I could continue hunting down the Ranger Stations. Which spoiler alert i did not finish. Plus on top of it you have a lot of the typical 'Bethesda' schticks going on which I do not like as much as certain other companies.
Also cazadors are a royal pain in the ass. And my hot keys was wigging out (that might be the contoller)
On the bright side though I made it to Bitter Springs and have two more quests to do there. Traveling along getting supplies, and solving a murder mystery. So at least I have plenty to do in this game. If I can stick with it.

Bit of Sims 4 and lots of Magic Diary. Watched Dodger play it ages ago and finally decided to take the plunge and play it for myself and really, really enjoyed it. Especially since the first run was super stupid on my part. Like do I really need my soul? Yes, yes I do. But do I really? Yes. Or well. Probably. Did find myself understanding the Solas-mancers a bit more though after having kinda been (quietly) judging them. So that was a bit of an egg on my face. Hehe. Sadly the end was not me learning my lesson, but the middle part was still great.
Did a couple of runs through and found each more enjoyable than the last. Also really liked the test bits and how there were different ways to solve them. Also little things like a shop going out of business if you didn't visit it often enough and such. Still got plenty of routes to discover, but it was a grand session all in all.

So more Crysis 2 yesterday, Alcatraz had a fun time taking down General Lockhart and a heap of CELL troops and especially enjoyed throwing Lockhart out a window and shooting just to make sure he was dead anyway!!!! Then he disarmed an EMP trap after killing some more CELL troops and then got betrayed by Hargreaves by another EMP trap so Hargreave could steal the Nano Suit which is a long story with lots of spoilers but its a great piece of the story and the history of the suit. Anyway Hargreaves ends up getting betrayed himself by a surprising third party and now Alcatraz has to fight his way free and then head off to finally hsut down the Ceph hive and spores for good. Pic's possible spoiler This is a fun section for sniping. Seeing if Lockhart can fly Nope Prophet reveals himself as Alcatraz gets taken for surgery to remove the suit Tara to the rescue Hargreaves revealed

Witcher 1
Progress!
Helped noonwraith Alina move on, then took out Dagon, receiving a cool new sword, Aerondight, as a reward from the Lady of the Lake.
Trouble was waiting back in town in the form of elves taking humans hostage. Geralt decided to grab Alvin and get the hell out, but Alvin teleported away instead. Oops. So, he just got the hell out on his own.
I skipped the centipede carapace contract and I missed playing dice with the Gambling Ghost. I kept waiting for him to kidnap Alvin but apparently that only happens if you side with Triss in Ch 3. Every time I checked the ruins the ghost wasn't there. I also missed out on playing the elf since I didn't talk with that group other than to learn about Raven's Armor.
So, back to Vizima, where the whole place was in flames. The king was back though, and Adda had been cursed into a striga once again. Geralt beat Foltest at dice (and kept his head), un-cursed Adda for the second time, and rummaged around in enough crypts and caves to allow Kalkstein to remake Raven's Armor.
Next stop is the Old Manor, but there is a road bump in the way by the name of de Wett, who is just waiting to be flattened.

I played PoE a bit more. I think, I'm still not that far into the game, I'm easily distracted by side quests Same with Kingdom of Amalur, although I think, I'm pretty far into the game now. And I'm still playing Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. I just can't get enough of this game with all the cool mods and stuff. I'm contemplating playing a Tremere in Clan Quest Mod, that will join the Sabbat. For people not familiar with the World of Darkness: that is a rather unusual concept, since one of the supporting clans of the Sabbat are the Tzimisce and Tremere and Tzimisce hate each other. And in VTMB the Sabbat leader is a Tzimisce named Andrei. But still, it is possible so maybe I'll do it for the fun - plus in the vanilla game, there is at least one Tremere fighting for the Sabbat, so Andrei seems to be open for a Tremere to join his ranks.

Spent a few game days at the Broken Railroad forge making arrowheads in THe Long Dark with lots of wolves patrolling the zone. Managed to steal 5 deer kills from them without ever getting mauled and shot 3 of them in the face with a revolver in the process. Finally found saplings to make some arrow shafts, so I should be ready to move back towards Mountain Town again as soon as they cure. Hopefully, that's where I left my rifle (I hate it when I misplace things... even in a game.) There's been a moose wandering around here in Broken Railroad, I'd like to get; but I don't have the guts to try to take it down with the revolver. Last time I did that it didn't end so well.

Finished Witcher 1
A few things different this time in the epilogue. Triss seemed to be around more. She was along for the zeugl fight instead of Siegfried. The latter meanwhile turned out incredibly bitter and anti-elf as a result of not having Geralt around to keep him decent. Yaevinn was still an ass (how exactly was Geralt responsible for Toruviel's death when he was boating back to Vizima at the time?)
Killing Javed seemed to be a bit easier for me (yeah, still playing on easy). It's unfortunate there's no official way to keep Berengar alive. Would like to see him and Lambert try to out-bitter each other in W3.
Didn't let spectre king have Jacques at the end. Not sure what the point of that would be. Then of course the wtf moments of (possibly) Alvin's amulet and the assassination attempt on Foltest. Not quite as shocking the second time around but still a good hook for what might be coming next.
I'm going to play the add-on adventures next, then move on to W2.

Wrapped up No Man's Sky this afternoon. I think you plot my enjoyment of this game on a nice bell curve. Started off slow, and honestly I wasn't enjoying the initial hours of the game. It was a constant race for resources to stay alive, and our meager inventory space required continual attention. But as I progressed, gaining a starship, then better starships, expanding your inventory/upgrades... exploration became more fun. Then it peaked around the time I acquired a (very nice Class A) freighter, and support ships. Started exploring in earnest with better inventory space, survival upgrades, translating more of the alien languages, and watching the money and resource flow in. Base building was interesting, but as the game wore on, and became repetitive, I decided to give up on the dream of building the de-luxe home base I had sketched out. Eventually, as the game has fixed number of templates, new planets all start feeling same-y, and motivation was waning fast. Only the rare exotic planets you happen across hold anything new (but are cool). At that point I decided to burn through the remainder of the main questline and wrap things up. I think the idea of NMS shows great promise. The idea of seamlessly traveling to any planet you wanted and exploring was an interesting one. But at the same time, there's only so many planets you can explore before it gets tiresome. The main issues for me were a lack of variety (for a game of this scope), no emotional attachment, limited main races, UI issues, bugs, and rendering in general. While their engine was adequate to the task while in space, it was simply not up the challenge of rendering even the game's meager environment planet-side. It is quite possibly the worst I've seen in a modern game. Draw distance is ridiculously short. I could jetpack a few seconds across the landscape, land, then wait for the terrain details to load in. Flying over a planet's surface, watching details and buildings struggling to render just beneath you, really took me out of it. That said, I would certainly keep my eye out for a NMS 2, should they decide to make one.

Some of the older games can be hard to get into. Recently I tried to play NWN again but found I couldn't continue after 15 minutes. Sometime ago I played Grim Fangango and enjoyed it so there's that odd contrast. Yeah I tried BG about 12 months ago and it was just too frustrating and I stopped at Candle keep. Yeah it's a bit hard for me to get into isometric RPGs. I'm probably the only one who may play NWN 1 & 2 someday in the future again. Obsidian GryphonTry to start with the 2nd expansion. That underground crypt is a fun starter. But I'm a bit too nostalgic with the original campaign... one of my first 3 RPGs.

Fire Emblem Awakening
So we got past the next chapter...what was it, chapter 6 I believe? (correction, chapter 7 )
gained a new team member, Pegasus Knight number 2 Cordelia (with whom I have a love/hate relationship (I love her design but the character in itself often grates on my nerves (coincidentally I do like her "clone" Caeldori from Fates )
so yeah, we got ambushed by Plegian forces as we were leaving the capital, Cordelia's squad at the borders has been murdered by King Gangrel (leaving Cordelia the sole survivor) Emmeryn gives Chrom the Fire Emblem and returns to the capital to protect her people. And of course when we arrive back in Regna Ferox we learn from Basilio and Flavia that Emmeryn has been taken by Gangrel and will be executed within the next moon (that guy is anything but subtle)
So now we have an Exalt to safe...yay
After the chapter I unlocked the third side chapter, and was able to level up Lissa to level 10, making it able to change her into a War Cleric (she has an axe now) and I also used the other two Master Seals I had on Mystra (Grandmaster) and Chrom (Great Lord) respectively Maribelle still has a few levels left to go, but with some luck I'll be able to gain another master seal in the following chapter(s) making it able to level her as well
