TW3, first playthrough Geralt finally found Ciri last night, and the cutscene that followed made the whole journey so worth it. I will battle the Wild Hunt tonight if I can get off this forum and get my work done first. I hope those dwarves get away ok in the boat they stole from Geralt. You know, I used to think my Inquisitors had an over-leveling problem, but they've got nothing on Geralt. I've over-leveled to the point that, on some quests I've done in the last couple of days, I've been awarded only a single XP for completing the quest. I've left so much un-explored in Act 2 and haven't bothered with most of the witcher contracts because I was getting to be over-leveled for the actual main quests there too. How do people avoid completely over-leveling in this game? Harder difficulty levels? Or are you supposed to just pick and choose a few side quests to do? I play TW3 on death march difficulty, and even after a while it becomes too easy but I still find monsters 5-10 levels above mine in the world map. So there's not really a problem. The side-quests have the recommended level, so really I don't wait to be too much above that level to do it. If I want some challenge I do them when I'm like 4 levels below.

There are definitely still things above my level (both side quests and random monsters), but I guess I did too many side-quests and random monster encounters at the beginning, which made me over-leveled for the main quests. I raced through the second act, so now I'm "only" one level above the recommended for the current main quest Ah well...at least now I know.

I'm also on my first PT on TW3... Uh... Doing... stuff about the Wild Hunt now. As in, I'm in the "hey, let's plot how to defeat them!" part.
But my most recent achievement... I operated. Woo. Getting better with the Advanced Combat Environment's advanced medical system in ArmA. Basically means I'm that much more likely to understand medical things. I'm no longer plain clueless! I've elevated my knowledge to "absolute amateur"!

Yesterday I politely asked Frederick Barbarossa to stop converting my cities to Buddhism... to which he grudgingly acceded - for about 2 turns, the bugger!
Cassus Belli - Holy War? Oh yes... and I did not stop until I'd razed Berlin to the ground. The whole world hates me now, except Japan. Oh well.

I'm so ready for this gaming funk to be over! I've just been playing Overwatch with friends.... lacking passion, but still fun. I'm excited for Telltale Batman episode 3 tomorrow, then Skyrim remastered on Friday, since I've never played it before.

Reached nearly the end of the main questline in TW3, and am putting off the endgame sequence by trying to clear all those stupid little question marks around Skellige. I'll probably get bored with that after a few more monster dens and start the endgame tomorrow. Other than that, I spent about half an hour trying to find my way out of a cave after looting the place.

listend to the grunts in titan fall, as one of them said they needed my help. Which they were being surrounded by enemy grunts. I liked this attention to detail so much, I actually stopped chasing the player I was on the tail of, and helped the grunts out by clearing the enemies they were going up against.
Then got promptly killed by another player. Doesn't matter though, totally worth the death, when a publisher pays attention to the little things of a game.
Its going to be a sad day for me, when that games servers go down.
I also unlocked the lmg, and got a few kills with it. That guns deep ammo supply, and stopping power are amazing. Not as fast on the draw as most other guns. But when it hits, it hits like a Mac Truck, and has 80 rounds before you need to reload. Just hold the trigger down, and go to work.

Well, my Civ V game has turned from an expected cruise through the end game into a rather uphill struggle. The reason is George Washington. And what a vile bastard he is. He has conquered the largest continent all for himself, has almost all the wonders, 60 in happiness despite multiple conquered, unhappy cities, 8 city state allies, has established a city just at my borders and taken all the oil sources. The whole world hates America. Everybody has denounced him.
America has only denounced one. Me. And I've done nothing but lived peacefully. And he contacts me just to scorn me about how small my empire is.
This should be interesting. I still think I can do this. I'm building up my military.

It took almost the whole night, but it was glorious. America had made a massive buildup in my south polar region which I hadn't seen. George Washington paid a visit spitting in my face with glee and reveling in how much he had looked forward to this day. And then about a full dozen riflemen, 7 cannons, 4 cavalry and a great General invaded my land.
The AI's plan was sound, keep his forces concentrated, using General and adjacent units as force multipliers, shuffling his front to let wounded units recover.
However, when AIs can be trusted to follow a plan, you can use that knowledge to defeat them. AI don't adapt well. The irony is that while the AI plan is generally how to do it, this time I would have been in serious trouble had he spread out in a wide front.
My defenses weren't that impressive on paper. 3 lancers, 1 gatling, 1 rifleman, 1 frigate and 1 caravel. However, I emptied my other cities and reinforced with another rifleman, another gatling, another lancer and 2 frigates (if you think that is curiously little, I had spent 10 units as gifts trying to help Jerusalem and Carthage to defend themselves, to no avail). I also purchased a frigate and finished a frigate build, giving me a total of 5 frigates.
Along the coast and my city, I focused my bombardment to be sure to kill off the enemy unit every time. I didn't always succeed, his riflemen were damn tough and resilient, but the more important to make sure of the kill. My lancers are weak units and extra weak against infantry, but the cool thing is that they can retreat after attacking, giving another space to attack. So I used my lancers as coup de grace units (it usually took 3 or all 4). My caravel was sent out to intercept American reinforcements at sea, and succeeded in sinking two, plus with the help of a city-ally caravel also sink an American caravel.
In short, my Frigates became too much for him. I lost one rifleman unit and three of my five Frigates came to just a micro-sliver of red pixels from death, but that was it. When Washington sued for peace, I decided to accept because of the state of the frigates, but did throw in his city of Atlanta in the terms, which was the city he had established on my continent, by my border. He accepted, which means the south is now mine and there is no american presence on my continent (and I have now oil).
A good outcome, I think, and definitely a victory. America's losses? I don't know for sure, it was such a huge and long battle, but certainly 80-90 % of the forces he originally invaded with. More than a dozen units for sure.
What I learned about America, is that after *cleansing* his own entire continent, he then went after the second most powerful empire, his main rival for game-victory, me. I don't think this is a general Civ strategy. It seems to me that Germany for instance often seem to step up through the weakest.

As much as I loved TW3, the leveling system is terrible, your either doing quests for nothing, or your getting your ass handed to you by a local thug, dressed only in shorts and brandishing a club. If you do too many side quests, the main quest becomes a cakewalk.

Been playing X Rebirth lately. Managed to capture some pirate ships, 3 Titriels, 1 container/engery carrier, and 3 fighters. Selling off some of the ships to fund my upgrades. So far I've kept 2 of the titriels, the fighters, and the cargo ship. But I'm almost out of funds again, so I'm going to need to sell something else. Or capture something else, I have my marines, and a crew for another ship sitting on my ship.
Just can't capture any more fighters as I can't afford to hire another pilot.
And I do really enjoy having combat ships to patrol some sectors, and keep them clean of pirates.

Was easier than I thought. Grieving Mother's Disintegrate actually hit, and Aloth managed to petrify it.

Finished TW3 just a little while ago, and got what I think is the best ending for Ciri and Geralt. I wish there were more quests they could have done together after he finds her and before the endgame, though. I am contemplating getting the DLCs. I have read some good things about them, but also read that Ciri, Yen, etc. do not show up, other than a cameo with Yen, Triss, or Ciri (depending on choices in the main game). Anyone here know if that's true? I've left so much un-explored in Act 2 and haven't bothered with most of the witcher contracts because I was getting to be over-leveled for the actual main quests there too. How do people avoid completely over-leveling in this game? Harder difficulty levels? Or are you supposed to just pick and choose a few side quests to do? If you do too many side quests, the main quest becomes a cakewalk. Yeah, I mostly stopped doing side quests so I could be on-level for the final boss fight, and he kicked my sorry ass even on the lowest difficulty...BUT at least I managed to beat him with lots of tumbling around the battle field to avoid his attacks. It was not a proud moment for me, or for Geralt I prefer my ass being kicked rather than the final boss being too easy, though. *cough* Corypheus*cough*

I tried to run Skyrim remastered, just to see how my system would handle it. I can't run that game on anything better then the low graphics option. If I crank it up to medium, my graphic cards fan sounds like a jet engine, and the game gets rather framey. I have a GTX 560 btw.
*sigh* I did not miss this. Last time I had trouble running games I spent about 1k on parts for a new machine. I want to do that again, once I'm sure I have a job permanently.

Finished TW3 expansion Hearts of Stone yesterday. I thought the story was so good that I almost didn't miss all of Geralt's friends I started Blood and Wine today...got a letter from Yennefer (thought it was sweet that she calls Geralt "dearest" and tells him to take care of himself, and wonder if she always says that, or only if Geralt stays with her), killed some things, and started renovation on my vineyard.
