Fallout New Vegas
Well now I am getting Vietnam Flashbacks to a few things. Kind of funny in hindsight while...Dead Money...gave me fits in terms of design, gameplay, and almost everything except for the character interactions and especially Dean...this DLC seems to have some pretty good stuff but stability issues are really starting to rear their head. Which is also funny because I was just thinking, even in regards to Honest hearts, that the game had been really stable of late *sigh*.
Part 1...also noticed that this DLC also has a lot of 'main quest fetch quests' kind of a huge no no. Not always easy to find. Spent me awhile to find the final lunch box which they deliberartley hid behind a rake. And also took me awhile to find my Datura plants as well where I even gave up on it.
Part 2...so got back on after a break and decided finally figured out the Datura very easily. That went well.
But it did intduce a altered state of being/ vision which I thought led to a lot of glitches and just insane graphics and situtation. The quest colminated in a battle with a squad of phantom Yauog gui that can still kill you. Yet the glitches that started to pop up, at least three crashes...and two deaths because even when I went into Vats nothing would happen...I'd stay in VATS....and then it'd pummel us to death. Finally did get it and then somehow got back to the camp to turn the quest in.
Thigns seemed fine for a bit and I got to ask Daniel about Waking Cloud's family. Hubby died protecting family. Initially I did agree with his logic and I think that is the RP thing to do too but I don't know because...just in the back of my head just 'what if she dies' and she goes to her death not knowing hubby is dead...
Anyways though back to questing...got one shotted at half health from behind by a Gecko and then the game crashed again. Pishaw.

Sounds like Spiderman 2 is scoring well in the reviews which isn't really a surprise given how popula rthe Insomniac Spiderman games are. It's got me thinking abou installing Spidey 1 and Miles Morales on m ySSD seeing as I have them on Steam. So I ma ylook to download them tomorrow. At this rate I'll run ou to fspac ebefoer I getround to play any o fthe games on there. Especiall yas I was thinking of putting AC Oddysey and Forspoken on it 2 very big games. I'll probabl yinstall those 4 and leave i ta tthat until I getto pla y1 or 2 o fthem t omake suer I can pla ythe games off it well enough..

SWTORSentinel using the Combat style is weird. You have like no area of effect or damage over time abilities, but things dies fast still and sometimes you don't quite know why. I did some of Taris on my JK and then teleported to Nar Shaddaa to do one of the Galactic Season objective since it reset tomorrow. I wasn't going to get to Nar Shaddaa fast enough to do that objective while playing normally. So I teleported to do some heroics (the fastest way to do the objective). And now I'm wondering if something changed with downscaling or companions. This went much better than I remember on past characters. Also, I'm not skipping dialogue as much as I usually do with side quests. Which just highlight how much NPCs love monologuing and why I was skipping dialogues... Still a good chunk of Taris to do (meh! I hate that planet...) and this might end up one of my slowest PT.

I finished my first playthrough of BG3 last week. Even with significant performance issues in the final quarter of the game, it was so good.
My first protagonist was a Noble of Baldur's Gate, a female Half-Elf Wizard (Diviner).
For my second playthrough, I'm going much further afield. I'm playing a Male Gith'yanki Sage Draconic Sorcerer / Warlock of the Great Old Ones (think unknowable, Cthulu-esque beings). Rather than a local, this guy spent who-knows-how-long in the Astral Plane, a timeless place between worlds, studying ancient things from myriad worlds and planes of existence. Then, BG3's opening happened and he awakened in a very bad spot.
A fair stereotype of the Gith'yanki is that they are arrogant, xenophobic jerks. They have a big role in BG3, however, and it's perhaps the best closeup I've ever seen of their culture. It makes this nerd happy to see this fiction brought to life so faithfully.
It's fun playing the alien, and the one who has learned bit more open-mindedness than most of his kin. It's a fun line to walk. Even when he's polite and helpful, is he sincere or just pragmatically managing his non-Gith ("istik") companions? I look forward to experiencing it over these coming weeks.

Speaking of Baldur's Gate I do wonder how people designed their...well lets just spoil just in case... their dream visitor guardian thing. Just what design or RP principles influenced their decision. Like male to female, vice versa, or what not. Fallout New VegasContinued on with the tour through Zion. As if to prove the point I was musing about...no crashes tonight. See part of what makes this game so frustrating and just my typical game experience in a way...its just taking forever in a way. Which is good because I don't really have anything demanding my attention but also have something I want to replay. Thing is its weird how this works and my expectations seem to play towards the opposite usually. When I am getting back into the game and getting excited for it and hoping to maybe start marathoning it...it tends to start crashing and glitching out. This discourages me and even leads me to even put off the play sessions I was thinking about doing until the last moment if that makes sense in case it does crash stave off dissapointment...and then the game starts working just fine things go smoothly which makes me go 'well maybe next play session I can marathon the game and play it.' Though seems I really misremembered the DLC. Granted it has its moments but just forgot how much of it seems to be centered around just random killing and fetch quests for its 'story'. Of course being Fallout/ Bethesda/ Obsidian any story and lore could be hidden and the real connecting nuance, like there was a story from a survivor of the war hiding in a cave, not commiting suicide for years, and eventually he bumped into some girls which had escaped from an evil school and he vowed to protect them more or less. Just random hunting down White Legs and collecting stuff. The best thing about this sequence though was hunting down the Sappers and the traps that the WHite Legs put on the potential escape route for the Sorrows people. But then all these quests also seemed to just...end. After this story which is lack of a story have to decide whether to side with Joshua's plan or Daniel's. I feel that its a foregone conclusion both for my morality and Raylan's but it was a pretty good stopping point so I decided to stop to 'think' about it. Will pick it up tommorow!

SWTORHalf of Taris questing done, ignoring the bonus series content. My JK now knows how to find the person he's been sent to find that the Imps found first. Because the Imps are always first you know. Needs conflicts somehow. Taris has some awful side quest setups might I add. It's like the 300 years after destruction was missed by the writers in many quests. Some stuff don't make much senses, like the body counter team (it's going to be bones pal, not bodies from 300 years ago). Or generators still working 300 years later, but nobody is using them despite everything else being destroyed and the lack of planetary resources. Anyhow, I'm gone soon... I'm still on the fence with romancing Kira. I didn't take the first [flirt] dialogue option (way too soon). I'm not sure if it was an optional one or not. But I don't think she's a good choice for my hardass JK. Speaking of Baldur's Gate I do wonder how people designed their...well lets just spoil just in case... their dream visitor guardian thing. Just what design or RP principles influenced their decision. Like male to female, vice versa, or what not. Always way too attractive somehow. So I made the next ones older looking. It didn't really help. I just ended up with very attractive older people. I alternated male/female, but I much prefer the female voice overs after doing a PT with both. So future ones will be lady Guardians.

colfoley, the "Guardian" of my first BG3 protagonist (the Baldurian Wizard) I designed as an old friend, maybe love interest, who was an adventurer and long out of touch. I imagined her being a Paladin, with that gilded armor and strong physique. My second protagonist hasn't yet seen his Guardian, but I designed her as his dead "wife", bond-mate, partner, or whatever the Gith'yanki might call it. She died in an event that shaped his background and class design. I'm not sure that he will take it well, but we'll see. So, I twice went with the romantic link. I also considered a parent or sibling, and will definitely use those in the future.

Of course though given what I have seen on the Guardian not sure that fits in the lore but it is a really nice story touch having your dead partner basically protecting you somehow.

SWTOR
Finally out of Taris! Saved the guy I was sent to find. Killed the evil Imperials. And ran flew off to Nar Shaddaa to clean-up a secret project the Republic made on a "neutral" planet.
Republic security is awful on Nar Shaddaa. I even had to find security passes stolen by a gang after landing at the spaceport.

Of course though given what I have seen on the Guardian not sure that fits in the lore but it is a really nice story touch having your dead partner basically protecting you somehow. It fits better than you might initially believe. 😉 I'm looking forward to seeing how the provided options allow those interactions to unfold. I've completed the game once, but I can't claim to recall all the various options in those interactions. Plus, conversations are usually branching, rather than sequentially exhausting options 1 thru 4, as in a game like Mass Effect. I have an idea of how the protagonist's seeing that face and hearing that voice might go down, but I'll have to wait and see how it unfolds.

Currently redownloading Forspoken t orepla ythe game and play the DLC eventually. Tomorrow I'll download AC Oddysey then it's just a case of getting around to playing these games. My thinking atm is I migh ttry the Spiderman games once I finish my current Midnight Suns playthrough. I'll probabl yplay NFS Unbound when I'm finished with my latest run of NFS Heat and I'll probably have a go at Starfield and start an HZD run after I finish my active MEA and DAI runs The Baldur's Gate games I'll play once I'm done with Starfield.

Fallout New VegasFinished up with...forgetting DLC name but the one with Zion. And yeah pretty fun action set piece but a bit of a holow one in a lot of ways since there was no real build up per se, at least that I feel. Though the battle between the White Legs and the tribes of Zion did go in a dark direction with Josua Graham and the combined forces of the Zion tribes executing the White Legs to a man if they have to even when they were surrendering and Josua did say that was the intention. Which we are talking a small and evil 'tribe' here but that does bring to mind sort of the extreme morlaity fiction can be good for. Because genocide is wrong, obviously, but are there such organizations so corrupt that it requires ripping them up root and stem in order to protect yourself? I have had this thought experiment about the Jedi Order over in Star Wars plenty of times as well because despite the horror of Anakin murdering Jedi younglings...there is also little doubt in my mind that the Jedi Order was super corrupt and had become almost as much of a threat to 'balance in the Force' as the Sith. Always such fun thoughts to bring up in a semi public forum I swear. Of course this DLC did explore the negative consequences of such a thing. With the peaceful tribe in Zion militarizing and beginning to pick fights with the Dead Horse's. Back in the Mojave I now have the exploration perk so I now know where everything is. Plus wanting to go off and sell a bunch of stuff and buy some of the ammo I lost in the fight for Zion before moving onto the next DLC fairly soon. A funny thing happened I finally got a hint to track down Isaac for the NCR supply guy in Camp McCaron. I went to his home, he wasn't there, spent a few minutes looking for him...concluded it was a bug so I went off on my own. Well after selling stuff to the Gun runners suddenly Isaac just runs into camera just makes a bolting bee line...and starts working on the reloading bench. So I got to talk to him. I also took Raul to Raul's shack hoping to get a quest out of him...no. Call of Duty Black Ops IIISO this game might've almost lost me, but shouldn't have been surprised, but also might still just have enough to pull it off. The next level starts with a highly front loaded boss battle with Katee Sackhoff's Sarah Hall. Long story short we find out more of what happened at the Covalescence building in Hong Kong with 54 i and more clarification on the timeline. First off we also figured out exactly how the Black Project led to the murder of 300 K people in Hong Kong. So that is wrapped up. Anyways the sequence devolves though as we interface with her DNI because she is dying after we fight her and we need answers on Taylor. The game gets a little esoteric here as she takes us to Bastogne during the Bulge in WW 2 because this is a battle she always admired and wondered if she could have the bravery to handle. This culiminated in what I am 99% sure is a Band of Brothers reference and actual Nazi Zombies being worked into the campaign...brave choice. But the thing is during this whole sequence in her mind we start hearing a voice telling us to 'relax our mind' and 'head towards the Frozen Forest'. That's right the black project was a CIA mind control experiment using AI. Again shouldn't be too surprised because I saw this in Black Ops 1 and its always been a conceit of the franchise but it also theoretically robs the antagonist characters of any agency since they are being puppeted by a meglomaniac AI. Except it passes by people interfacing with each other's DNIs. Hendricks interfaced with Diaz...and 'the Player' interfaced with Sarah Hall. So we're infected. Which is a lot jucier and opens up a lot more character conflicts. Anyways from there we get an 'on rail' Ace combat experience as we track the next member of Taylor's team to an Aquifer...and Ben kills him by impailing him on a giant spike.
