Been playing Legends of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel lately and been making some progress. Have been playing mostly blind so far but am catching myself peeking at a guide because the current city pretty big and trying to be vigilant for recipes and books is a bit tiring. Especially since not all the dialogs change (understandable of course) so it's a bit tricky finding out on my own when/where to go and chat. And been getting S ranks for all the chapters so far except for nr 3 (Got an A, think I missed 1 AP and even if I could reload to that point I wouldn't) so missing out on stuff now is frustrating. Granted if I come up short on chapter 4 it will be easier to just, let it go, I guess. Had been seriously considering dropping the difficulty to normal or easy but then something happened and now I'm just crushing the encounters. Granted, my problems are mainly the bosses and it's been a while since the last big one. Also helps that the last few dungeons have been fairly linear so it's been harder to just run past the encounters so been keeping my levels up as well. Also I have access to my ride or die Elliot and Machias shotgun, so that helps. I am having fun all in all but it feels so very slow. Figure next session will be in a while when I have some proper free time since I like the game better in big chunks, but it looks like the next bit will be fun. Or at least I hope so. I will at least have fun trying to screenshot Rean and his little ride along bunny because it is so freaking cute and why don't I have screenies of it already? (Although the yellow bunny in Tokyo Ex Xanadu was a bit cuter.) So since top post, a pic of the Yellow bunny. So.Freaking.Cute.

So I decided to stick with Knights of Honor II. It seems the only way to get barrels, is to conquer a kingdom with the ability to produce them. I might be wrong, but that's the way I did it. I won the game when my young King of Scotland was named emperor of the world. I won it again when I unlocked all Kingdom advantages. To win by conquering the whole world would be tedious in the extreme. I'm at the stage where rebels just spawn constantly in my own Kingdom, so I can't go to war with anyone else. There is no way to lower your war fatigue, which spawns more rebels. i.imgur.com/Ph1PlI1.jpg i.imgur.com/BslrVUu.jpgi.imgur.com/O1z4yPC.jpg

Nearin gtheend o fmy NG+ Midnight Suns playthrough as I just took out Crossbones and did Agatha's ritual. Still go tthe last parts of the DLC's to do as I have the last part of Storm's mission and the fina lmissoin in the DLC's. I ma yen dup doin gthem back to back though befoer finishing the main story. Must admi tI' mkind of torn between starting my Insomniac Spiderman playthrough or stayin gwit hMidnight Suns and have a shot a ta norma ldifficulty run. I ma ystar tthe norma ldifficulty run first then turn t oSpidey latr but not sure atm. Mostly because it really depensd on how far I progress as Venom kicked my ass last time I tried raising the difficulty. I don't think he will this time as I' m more experienced with the mechanics now and choosing what actions to tak eand when. I think he'll stil be hard though as he's definitely the hardest o fthe bosses to fight in the game despite him also being the first you fight in the game. I am looking forward to the challenge of trying a harder run though.

Fallout New VegasContinuing on exploring the Big MT and looking into the things of the DLC and chatting with people. Of course it is a bit on the ironic side on both sides of the equation. On the one hand I told the Think Tank that I would just focus on the tech to defeat Mobius so there is that...and then I went off to explore right on my own in order to get all the personalities for the Sink's systems so I could go do some things which requires me to go to secondary locations and explore. On the other hand because of the instability of this DLC and because of the experience and the resources I have put into this DLC I do kind of want to beeline it. But getting the personalities and the upgrades are fun... And useful because they do actually do a lot of things for you. Like the Sink's butler system is limited it seems in what it can give you, dosen't re up its stock or its caps...I am pretty sure so that is a dead end. But the rest of them can help you craft resources in one way or another for you to them go out and use. Like stimpacks and the rest. The personalities though, southern doctor, horny male bioligical research station, two horny light switch ladies that you can use Lady Killer on, a coffee obsssessed mini securitron that turns coffee mugs into resources...and a homicidal toaster. Quite the cast. Its a fun gimmick. Call of Duty Black Ops 3So this is...complicated. Because this is a situation I don't think I ever anticipated in...to have a good ole mind explosion and have a campaign to a Call of Duty game leave me feeling uncomfortable. In the way of me actually having to go online and look up wikis and YouTube videos trying to explain all of what the heck I just happened. And to be clear to still trying to kind of make some sense of it to the point where it might warrant a second PT like very soon at least some of the earlier levels. And also to be clear at least one of the YouTubers I watched also seems to be fundamentally wrong about their aspect from the video but again given the nature of everything I am not entirely sure he was wrong. Now since this is an eight year old game or seven...or five. Multiple years I feel no real obligation to avoid spoilers per se and I kind of want to talk about this in my 'review'. Because it reminded me of some of the best stuff from BioShock...and then the video even referenced the twist from Infinite. You ready? We the player died on the operating table after the prologue mission due to surgical complications. But since they were able to give us a DNI and since John Taylor tried to save us by linking with us we piggybacked/ hijacked his DNI and became him. Meanwhile though 'Corvus' reawkens and decides to start wreaking havoc. He creates a simulation, using John Taylor's memories of a previous mission in which he was assigned to track down a rogue team led by one Dylan Stone who found out about the evil horrors that a CIA Black Ops mission was responsible for. The Singapore disaster. Corvus just basically flipped the roles within the simulation making the Player in the role of Taylor, and Taylor and his team in the role of Dylan Stone and theirs and Hendricks...basically played mostly the same role in both except for the end where he also flipped with Taylor for a second. So the basic middle of the campaign is all this part of a simulation as Corvus is trying to figure out how it was created and get answers for itself. All this breaks though when, apparently, the final mission involves either Hendricks going rogue on his own because he had enough or under Corvus's control to launch a terrorist attack on Zurich with the express purpose of bringing the Coalescence Corp to justice, finding out the answers that Corvus seeks, and spreading Corvus's influence around the globe to everyone with a DNI. Oh and I almost forgot the fun part at this point the Player's personality has hijacked John Taylor's body and is running around with Kane who had a romantic relationship with Kane during the hunt for Stone. Yes, it gets very cute how well this lines up...at least in part. Because we the player, if we haven't been paying attention to it (like I apparently wasn't) just thinks that this connection between the two is between Ben Browder/ the Player and Kane is actually between Taylor/ Kane. Of course the game does get a little cute here too one exactly what is real and what is not because Kane has a conversation with 'the player' ie Taylor about her reservations about him taking on all these cybernetic components and how it will change him...she breaks up with him. From our perspective though this apprently forms the transition between the simulation and the final real mission where we are going to stop Hendricks. And from the player's perspective it is a little bizarre and isn't meant to make sense entirely (something the YouTube vids did mention is intentionally part of the clues that something is off about the whole thing) but from our perspective Kane's worries kind of come out of left field but it does serve as a good fodder for why 'we' are surprised to see her at the end and why Kane asks 'the player' if they are still them and despite her and, in actuality Taylor's body breaking up, she wouldn't abandon him. SO now that I am all caught up on that though! Back to the issue with Hendricks. We fight through Zurich with Kane and all I guess the big note here is the fact that so much of the game is a simulation really makes it more tragic in a way because figuring out what is real and what is not real, in hindsight, is a big draw. But given that we know the final mission is real. Well Kane dies. Corvus tricks her and exposes her to the same chemical that caused the SIngapore disaster. Hendricks either goes crazy or is corrupted by Corvus to launch a major terrorist attack on a city and the player also is dead. Lots of tragedy in this. But from a set piece perspective the end mission is almost on the perfect side because after tracking down Hendricks the player concludes that they are the last ones left with the infection so they go to eat a bullet...but it transports us into a cyber scape like before. Taylor's consiousness joins us to fight Corvus and his goons and Ben Browder gives a masterful performance in voice acting. Because even as we are fighting all his minions he is starting to repeat Corvus's mantra about the Frozen Forest, standard hynpotist stuff. At first eerlie calm and dissonant to what you the player are trying to achieve, but then desperate like he is fighting it which really raises the tension because its that gameplay trick where you feel like there is a ticking time bomb with the mission even when there isn't. At the end though 'the player' initiates a DNI purge wiping out Corvus...but their consiousness at all. His last act is to announce his name as 'Taylor' to the Zurich security forces which show up at the end of the game. Smash to black. What the fuck....four hours of looking up all the lore on it later. Its not one to one perfect though. Indeed despite everything this isn't going to be my favorite Call of Duty campaign. At least Modern Warfare 2 and the MW reboot still hold the pretty much gold standard for that (from what I remember) and ironically its the gameplay that really lets this game down because it does its thing where every battle feels like a major action set piece and there is not a lot of time to just go slow and breathe...and think about what is going on so maybe its not my fault. The other thing is this game does this thing where there is a LOT of questions it hand waves away or not answers in service of the mystery and helping set things up. While its mind blowing still its almost mind blowing in a cheat way. Because as I said there is still a lot of confusion on exactly what was happening with Hendricks because I guess A. how was he infected and B. when exactly did he go rogue because...well basically I guess he had to go rogue in real life and then Corvus just adapted the memories to make him go rogue in the simulation so the two timelines would match up? But yeah still kind of a disservice to Hendricks. The second big issue I have with it is the fate of Taylor's team since apparently they actually just randomly died from the Corvus infection IRL for reasons. Taylor didn't (though my theory was that was with the player's influence) and Hendricks didn't. But just that entire team wasn't like puppetted at all they just...died. Why? How? And again that just sucks that randomly three more people just randomly expired and Taylor has to face that fact as he comes back to himself. From a thematic perspective this game has two overarching themes. The use of AI and cyberdization and environmental catastrophe. Now I'm not exactly an encironmentalist so some of this stuff is a little overplayed in modern media IMO but it was clearly designed to have some sort of message...and it didn't go anywhere. It just existed for a gameplay gimmick but it only happened even then...like twice. The AI thing with Corvus though was a lot more artfully handled because well AI is something we are actually having to deal with now and a lot of characters, Hendricks in the opening 'real' mission questions Taylor's humanity and Kane breaks up with him for that reason and wonders if he is still in there in the final 'real' mission. I shouldn't put real in air quotes but you get it. And the second thing is COrvus is actually a compelling villain with nuanced motivations. First of all him wanting to find out his origins, bit cliche for these stories but it was quite nicely well done just seeing its desperation as it tries to understand and its anger at the situation. But more importantly its motivations were understanable. It reawakened from the pain of the player's death...so it concluded that it needed to go out and eliminate pain and essentially was going to use the DNI system to create a permenant after life...under its control. I mean these motivations are so benign because I think I have heard this discussed as being an actual way of 'cheating' death. Its even come up in Star Trek Picard, downloading your consiousness into either the web or a new mechanical body. But the thing is it being under its control would be an issue and the question is...is this even a good thing as well? Anyways though really enjoyable and thought provoking game. I think it does mess up in key ways and the twist wasn't as artfully handled as it could've been and there are both better shooters (MW 2) with better twists (MW 2 again actually) and better thematic stories about the usage of AI in the modern world (GR Breakpoint) But yeah I really did enjoy it and given that some of the YouTubers said that this kind of twist is what the BOs series is known for makes me wonder how I can go back and either watch or play BOs 1 or 2...and play Cold War but that also has like a 300 Gig download size so that might be an out. I have it via PS Plus. Mid tier 2 though. Again lets itself down but I wouldn't mind replaying it. May even try out the Tiffy Gierhard/ Abby Brammel female run.

Right so my current status is Resident Evil 4 Remake - Easy, Normal, Hard, and Professional difficulties and related achievements all complete. Professional taking only 3.5 hours and limited to 15 saves was tricky. I also did what I call a NG+ Meta save, where I beat the game and have a bag full of goodies for when I just want to mess around with the game again or a friend wants to try.
Horizon Zero Dawn. I have it installed and restarted the game for I couldn't remember the controls. I have just finished the tutorial and look forward to seeing how the game strikes me. I did test a trainer called WeMod and it allows me to craft even if I don't have the materials (there are other things it can do, but those don't interest me). I am going to try not to rely upon it too much, but it might help me get over the mental block I have playing the game for a few hours and then walking away when something else comes along.

I finished Midnight Suns. It was alright. I enjoyed the combat but I def felt they could have toned down the abby stuff by like 50-75%. Too many daily limits and resources to gather. The writing for the heroes was also pretty weak in my opinion. Most of them all sharing the same concept of whining about stuff and then telling the hero how awesome they are etc. And then there was the ending..a def "that's it?" Moment.
That all said, I think it would stil be cool to see a sequel. It had some cool concepts, just a bit of tweaking required

I Started Knights of Honor II again. This time as Norway, and this time I'm taking it a lot slower, to prevent war fatigue. I conquered Denmark, and then rested and concentrated on making the Danes happy and loyal to me, before switching focus to trading. Our King died while leading a crusade for the church. His son then conquered Saxony, ( A Vassal State of Germany) and of course Germany joined in. I took two provinces off Germany and then made peace with them. Germany is huge, and has half a dozen Vassals, so I'll have to whittle them down with rests in between. i.imgur.com/dNaVzOG.jpg

SWTORStill on Tatooine. Cleaning sand. With blood. My Consular is chasing down a Jedi Master who wants to find the best survivor/warrior species on the planet. He first start with some Jawa and had them build war droids. It didn't turn out too good and Qyzen pointed out that Jawa are cowards and don't even hunt. It was a bad choice. Now the Jedi Master went for...Sand People. After he saw a vision. A vision of some wall carving. And a tribe just turned super aggressive. Maybe that's where he is at. Hopefully. Also, Czerka are evil. But everyone knew that.

Taking a break from Starfield as Dark Envoy has finally been released. I'm quite enjoying it once I got the hang of it. Just finished Act I and can't say I'm surprised by events. Still it's enjoyable and has an interesting story.

I'm impressed. One long shot without any loading screens.
Star Citizen Squadron 42 has apparently moved into the polishing phase. Funny. I thought I saw this announcement a year ago. I've been with SC since inception and the last time I walked in SC was in 2014 to inspect my hangar and take a ship out for a ride.
Travelling to other planets is akin to sailing in Atlas. It's real time so you have to spend some time looking at lights etc while the ship is moving towards the planet. The last time I saw SC, it took 15 minutes before planet fall was made and the ship docked. If you want to leave the game, you have to dock the ship, not abandon it out in the ocean or space. As stated, distance between planets have been compressed for the demo so travelling in SC will take several minutes. Playing with friends in MP is better since you can chat while waiting to arrive at the destination.
There were package offers who're in the crowd funding. I opted for the SP since I don't see myself spending a lot of time in MP. I suppose the SP is a 2024 release. Again, no surprise if it's delayed. Hope the story is good. I do know I will enjoy watching familiar faces and hearing familiar voices since well known actors and actresses were hired to voice act.

Fallout New Vegas
Well first off did a lot talking to the THink Tank talking about previous visitors to the Big MT and what they were up to. Bit of an odd sequence of quests because it was like two quests just moving back and forth talking to the two egg heads about the group. Nothing much reported other then Father Elijah really messed their stuff up. And they wiped none of their momeires but otherwise might've gotten wiped themselves because they didn't remember anything.
Then got into a weird situation where I got extremly unlucky in a gun battle in VATS. Just couldn't hit the broad side of the barn with nightstalkers and the mobile medical harness things. Just like ninety five percent chance with the AMR miss...which kind of makes sense honestly...but then with shotguns and for awhile my bullets weren't even seeming to do anything. Fortunatley their weapons weren't doing too much to me either but it got a little frustrating.
Then decided to do some exploring on the way to an objective. Little Yanghtzee, which wife told me was a 'Chinese concentration camp' and their were ghouls there. That is really fun and horryfying. Wanted to see some lore...but the game crashed.
Finally tracked down the final of the upgrade modules, I think, for now, maybe. But I got lost and couldn't find it. In the same area as the next thing the Think Tank needs to get their vengence on Mobius to. But alas, was having a lot of trouble finding things.

I was itching for Persona 3-flavoured kind of depression and since it's still a while before Persona 3 Reload, I've been replaying P3P. I'm doing some last grinding before final boss, maxing out my team and some of my favourite Personas just in case I want to return to save from this pt in the future. Maybe I've been grinding a bit too much, because now I can't unsee MC's gun holster looking like it's showing me middle finger Pretty on-brand for MC tho.

Started m ynorma ldifficulty run on Midnight Sunms I di dfail a side ques tjus ta moment ago but managed to nail it on my second try. So far Venom hasn't been too hard t ohandle yet but s ofa rI'v eonl yrun into him once and that's the first mission Hunter goes on in the game. It's bee nnic egettin g bigger rewards though for each mission so far. Though no wbecause I've go tinjuries turned on because o fbeing on harde rlevel I have lost both Magik and Ghost Rider to injuries. I do plan t oge tth eComba ttherap yupgrad ean eventuall ythe Threat Room upgrades which I' mhoping will help limit that as I'll be able to use the Threat room t olevel m yteam mates up. Unfortunately thoug hgiven I don' thav eenough resources ye tI haven't acquired them so am going to just do the best I can until I can get them. It' sdefinitel ybeen challenging but quite fun as well. I haven' tgo tto the poin twhere I've needed revives though yet whic hi sgood as you're limited to 2 on Normal difficulty

SWTORDone with Tatooine, on my Consular at least. The JK is still there. Next is some diplomacy on Alderaan to find a Jedi Strategist who might be "ill". I can't wait to be done with chapter 1, so I can be a proper Jedi Master and do more "diplomacy"...and get a small ship filled a big delegation of people.

I'm glad you're enjoying the Consular, I on the other hand found it to be boring as hell, it was quite the slog for me to get through it. Didn't care much for the Imperial Agent either.

It's somewhere between my 10th and 15th Consular. It's my favorite Republic class-story (well chapter 2 and 3, chapter 1 is fun the first time around, after that you see all the plot holes and events are totally ignored afterward on top of it).

Good lord I managed to get through it once. I couldn't see myself doing it again. I think of the Republic class stories Jedi Knight and Smuggler are my favorites. Trooper was okay and Consular almost put me to sleep more often than not. It did have it's moments but overall it was a real slog for me.

BioWare takes a lot of heat for not being it's pre-EA self. But I found the stories in The Old Republic to be well done. I enjoyed the Jedi Knight, Sith Warrior, and Sith Inquisitor. The Sith Warrior stands out for me because even though I was a dark Jedi I was not stupid evil. I used my brain and showed compassion when it was warranted. But I was still a Sith and believed in it's code and was loyal to the emperor so if someone double crossed me they get the saber. Or for example if am enemy who was influential would beg for their life and offer to join the Sith. My warrior would spare them to benefit the empire. My only complaint is that they completely disregarded KOTOR II which is my favorite out of the two KOTOR games. At least put a statue of the Jedi Exile in the Jedi Temple that's all I ask. I mean they did save the order and rebuilt it. Would have loved to hear about the fates of their companions and if Kreia visions about them came true. Oh damn now I want to play KOTOR II and SWTOR lol.

I can remember all the drama leading up to SWTOR's release and I was in two minds about it because it was a MMO which I generally stay away from then shockingly I got an invite to one of the open beta weekends so needless to say I gave it quite a workout. It was enough for me to buy it. As for KOTOR II meh I found it okay much prefer the first one then again I've never liked Obsidian's games as much.

As for KOTOR II meh I found it okay much prefer the first one then again I've never liked Obsidian's games as much. Don't get me wrong KOTOR I is a classic and it is what got me into both rpg's and BioWare. I just liked the Exile's story more and it had some of my favorite characters in the old EU like Kreia, Atton, and Darth Sion among others. It's like with Mass Effect my favorite game in that series is ME2 and it's because it has a ship of the damned feel to it like KOTOR II. Also I am a big fan of Chris Avellone's writing. He wrote two of my favorite protagonists The Nameless One from Planescape: Torment and the aforementioned Jedi Exile. As for Obsidians other games I've enjoyed most though I never played The Outer Worlds nor the game where you play a spy (I forgot it's name) but KOTOR II, Pillars of Eternity, and Tyranny are some of my favorite rpg's. Edit: Oh and New Vegas I enjoyed as well.

Fallout New Vegas
Bit of a weird start to it. Kind of interesting that it had so many quests sort of just jammed into the same place with the infiltrator suit. The fun part though was that the upgrade modules are usually seperate discs on the side of it. In this case they were files on the computer. Probably figured that people would just stumble into it randomly even without them telling...but I've always had a complicated relationship with Lore. But hey at the very least I have a new 20,000 cap worhty implant.
From there though I did go and complete, lets hope pending the crash, talking with the last Doctor down there to complete 'picking your brain'. Which Dr. Ouroburus was probably the best for last though. Given that talked about modifying and creating Cazadores and Nightstalkers and insisiting that they couldn't breed and couldn't escape Big Mt. I know that is a sack of crap considering my battle of Cazadore ridge before I headed to big mountain so there is that. But in the course of talking about this also mentioned that they well had exprimental CITIES to work on. Which then further led to a conversation about them running experiments on Chinese prisoners (Little Yanghtzee I guess) but not just that but actual Americans in actual cities. Would just take them and then set up an experiment to them for whatever they want...like Toxins. Also mentioned that they weren't anywhere near as good as Vault Tech. Sure I know the lore a bit and it is a bit in your face but it just is kind of shocking. Its also one of those things that makes the line between say 'communism' and presumably 'capitalism' kind of meaningless. Sure the two systems are very different but when groups have this much influence to do this crap. Its scary. And uncomfortable.
