Banishers Annoyed with some dialogues. Antea said that the dead trucking (yes trucking! And this is supposed to take place in the 1640s. The words used are not consistent with the era. Sometimes they speak in faux olden way then modern words pop up) with the living isn't good. She can attest to that. So naturally Red asked her to explain / relate the tale. Nope she does not. They are not pressed for time and she can freaking well speak of her experience / what she knows but no. What comes later is clear that the devs want the story to go a certain way because I was expecting Antea to make a choice. She does not. She leaves it to Red to decide. Seriously. Seriously!! I was expecting a discussion, an argument over what to do, what should be done. I expect Red to be stubborn and Antea to be adamant in her beliefs. They're both blank slates in their background, their relationship. Players are supposed to accept these two believe in their jobs, they are experienced, they love each other deeply. Problem is, the writers / devs did not create enough exposition to make their bond believable. If either of the two dies, I'll just go; oh yeah, ok. What's next? I'll hardly feel sad. Edit. There's some puzzle solving akin to aligning lines / images together, like Valhalla. There are also mini bosses and their minions that haunt areas that have to be cleared. I've finished the first haunting case. It's nicely written and voice acted. I chose Ascension. It's silly to want to hang on to Antea. Bringing her back to life involves murder. Sustaining her in her ghostly self is not practical either even she has nice abilities. It would probably be more difficult if the writers had done a better job of writing the characters and their bond but as it is, there is no struggle with the decision.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth-Demo-Journey in Junon or whatever its called.
So this was interesting. And kind of interestingly likable. Recent conversation I had around the boards made me want to consider the combat in a new light and I was kind of having fun. Granted it seems a bit...loud and flashy and hard to keep track of everything. To dove tail on my comments from the last time I did this it is a bit hard to keep track of when to dodge and block and what not. Miss those ARPG tells. And it had its moments.
Though one interesting thing seems we have been given a battle computer that is voiced. Could be interesting. Gameplay function its similar to the whole thing from Hogwarts Legacy and the like. Complete combat objectives, in this case you get tips on how to fight them in the future...like DAI. Kind of bad though apparently you have to do the entire list of objectives before getting anywhere.
Other major change in this game the addition of the Chocobo as a mount is kind of fun and interesting. In this case its also welcome that your entire party also gets to actually follow you around. And you can collect resources while on it. Can't fight on it though.
But then it rather unceremoniously and quickly ended. Just about a twenty minute experience all told. Sure don't want to do too much but I was just getting settled in. Hmph. Still one last bit of fan service a Dolphin sort of saves the day.
Far Cry 6.
Seems I've noticed that El Este is a really bugged out region of the map. And still is even after all these years since the game first released.
After first getting Karlito from the museum dedicated to the Legends...and then repurposed by Castillo to show them as horrible terrorists. It actually is something though that Karlito just has a flamethrower as its weapon instead of a coaxial machine gun. And flame throwers typically in video games are something that is really short range...and I typically don't really like short range weapons. Including shot guns. Long range weapons that can double as short range is fine but video games don't tend to do flame throwers or shotties much justice, imo, usually. But the flame thrower on here actually has quite a bit of range to it. Could need to keep that in mind if I start summoning tanks to drive around.
Then onto the bugs. I noticed on the way to one of the main missions that 'Man's Best Enemy' was unlocked for me. IE the Chicharron mission where you recruit him. The delightful Far Cry style mission where crazy fun things happen...but then some sort of suspicious, most likely, bug like behavior happens where it makes the mission go on way too long. In this case the rooster got 'stuck' in some kind of charging animation at the entrance to the document archive. Just leaping as if to head butt it. Forcing me to do all the documents by myself but the objective didn't update, I don't think, with him stuck, which forced me to do so manually. Under almost constant fire from endless waves of Soldiers...then helicopters showed up. Unfortunatley despite knowing that you can abort a mission to restart it...I forgot...I since remembered I think but didn't at the time. Fortunatley though somehow Chicharron got unstuck. By the time he did it had only one box to destroy. Its kind of funny though the antics that he got up to. Most noteworthy was him going after someone's stall because they sold to Soledados 'no not again...just because I did that one thing once!'
Power Wash Simulator.
Really not sure how much this game is going to stick. Man is it tedious.
Still lessons to be learned and also just not sure if I am precise enough for it. But you kind of have to just...keep an eye on everything and there is a layer of thought to it, mostly in the width of your spray and what type of nozzle you are using there is thought. Just maybe so imprecise that it could be exasberating an already tedious monotnous game activity.

Phew, I am continuing my travels in Subnautica and I hit an important milestone: the Aurora reactor has been repaired and with that the life on this planet might save itself a lot of trouble on top of the bacteria it was already combating. I really welcome the magic and now, we also have our first steps towards living in this place outside of the escape pod number 5:

Hitman 3: Just about done, 3 levels left. The series is enjoyable but just doesn't grab me like it used it. I think its mainly just that it really hasn't done anything really new since Hitman 2.
WotR: Started this back up and intend to actually finish it. Or at least get far enough before the final dlc comes out. Planning on doing a goody goody Angel for the run since people say that one seems to be the best initial story for a good character.

Banishers This game is somewhat like Greedfall but more compact. Movements are easy. Paths are linear with small paths leading to loot or clues, etc. The same with dialogues because I'm finding it frustrating there is no question on the history of the Meeting House which is apparently the source of the Curse. You'd think the Banishers would ask questions on; When did the trouble began? Was there anything significant that happened? A big event? A tragedy? Something bad? Dig and try to locate that one event that sparked everything. Nope. Nothing. The characters are swanning about other troubles but do not ask questions pertaining to the Meeting House. I've to 🤣 when I read comments like; oh this game is excellent with a great story! All the questions are basic and surface touching, no deeper. So and so is behaving strangely, please find out what's going on. Such and such a Beast is hunting us. It's hard to tell days from night. I want to strangle the main characters or whoever thinks such shallow conversations would make a great game. The premise is interesting, intriguing and can be more if only there is more in-depth and pertinent questions!

Far Cry 6Knuckleball might be one of the most buggiest quests in the history of bugged quests...at least outside of the Witcher or the Fallout franchise. Just recruited all the farmers to fight and ambush the particular convoy. It got stuck. Took me awhile to realize it at the time. But it was indeed stuck. Well decided to walk up all the way to it to see if I could take it by itself...frustratingly its never actually on the minimap so kept having to adjust course in the menu...and got to it. Well there was a tank so that wouldn't have been easy to take on. At least sort of. But there was an engineer standing on the tank. Think that is what might've been what was keeping it from moving...because shot the engineer and the convoy started right on up. So booked it up the ambush sight dodging tank shells all the way and Chicharron flew. Then the convoy itself just randomly dissapeared/ teleported on me. But at least it was moving again, was worried it wasn't, but it walked right into the trap. After they islated the tank from the rest of it I charged the tank and apparently that was pretty much enough to complete the operation. Next on the list going after the...Sergio Bandito. Might spend the next little bit doing side quests there is actually quite a few descent ones in El Este. And also only have Boom Boom left...but Sergio. Escorting a captured Captain through the Yaran jungle after rescuing Sergio from being surrounded by Soldados. Perfect ambush on those initial forces really, Chicharron was quite stealthy in his own way. Only real trouble is *somehow* the enemy saw me in the middle so got in a little bit of a scuffle. Which knocked sir Captain down to 74% health. But got there in the end.

Knight of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
Planning on continuing where I left off. The last time I played the Ithorian Chodo Habat gave The Exile access to his freighter. It is not space worthy but it has enough power to take the crew to where the Ebon Hawk is. Anyway that's where I left off last time I played.

HZD Back to it finally. On the way to meet Erend at Red Ridge Pass I ran into the quarry haunted by a Rockbreaker, so taking it out was the first order of business. Do you think it would be nice enough to drop a heart for me? Of course not. Then headed to the pass, scanned some stuff, got ambushed, and came up with a theory to give Erend some hope his sister is still alive. He went back to Meridian to confirm or disprove it. Then headed to the excavation site to find Olin, and a few of his not-so-much friends. A mysterious voice through her focus gave Aloy an opportunity to take out the cultists and machines and then talk to Olin. He answered her questions and directed her to a place called Maker's End to see if the info she sought might be there. But first, she agreed to help him free his family from the clutches of the cultists, calling themselves Eclipse (really? ) and led by some tough guy named Helis, the one who killed Rost.
Fast-traveled to the nearest spot, talked with Olin to form a plan of attack, then took them out. Wife and son were ok and off they all went to be a happy family again. Aloy then headed south to another hunting grounds, this one for stealth. Will try that out tomorrow when I have more time.

Banishers
Fast travel requires finding camps and activating them. It's easy to find them as the entrance is marked by a ghostly burning totem with a red flag tied on it.
The MC has acquired a rifle and there isn't any worry about buying ammo or carrying them. The only thing required is loading. Running and fighting has no stamina gauge. 👍 I dislike stamina gauges. They're annoying.
What's carried in inventory are plants, herbs, mats, metals for upgrading equipment and for invoking Banisher spells of which there are three. One to see an event in the past. One to summon a spirit to speak to. One to summon a demon or haunt.
Thus far, I've done three Hauntings. One thing I noticed is that after the first Haunting was completed, I heard the warble of a bird. I remembered the town folks saying hardly any living animals survived and it was hard to tell night from day.
After the second Haunting was completed, I heard the warbles of a bird and the cry of a crow. There was sunlight too. I have no idea if the devs implemented environment effects in response to the type of Haunting solution chosen. I chose to Ascend rather than Banish. Ascending a spirit is to help it come to a peaceful acceptance. Banishing is to wrench them out forcefully with no resolution for their anger / torment / whatever is keeping them around.
After the third Ascend, I saw a crow. It's the first bird I've seen. Maybe it's nothing because Antea spoke of no sunlight. I thought she was joking because there is sunlight.

Far Cry 6
It was a while ago but I did make the joke to my wife with how I was using the wing suit where I wonder if Dani gliding through the air with the thing was where the legend of the Mothman originated.
This was quite the comedy of errors...and also a regular comedy. And the rare night of this playthrough so far where I just focussed on some side content and found out a few things which is making me move the order of where I want to do this side content around a bit. But up first for some reason...oh yeah I was just goofing off and was sliding with the cool baseball style animation this game does to show off, was planning on just popping up and then talking to the guy all cool like. Instead I bumped into him and to my amused surprised he reacted with a 'ah!'.
Then I guess the main course of the play session was running around to help the farmers of El Este who were thinking of giving up on Libertad. And well the first one I went to was the one where the gal needed my help decoupling an electric conduit that was electrifying some water. Well I died a couple of times so when *I* (my wife) fighured it out I decided to shoot said person out of the stupidity and frustration of it all. Well she was writhing on the ground going "Ayudeme!" and well of course I picked her up and then she was like "Gracias! Gracias!" I just lost it. Though the game might've gotten its revenge because seemed it bugged out and didn't consider me as having 'finished' that part of the quest despite having no active quest marker. Also here I did bash into a rock face while flying with the wing suit.

SWTORMy JK is now half-way the prelude to Shadow of Revan. Not much to say, just a sprint attack on Korriban and then having to save Tython from the Siths. And suspicious things happening and nobody taking me seriously when I point it out. I unfortunately restarted again in BG3. And I'm getting more hyped for Dragon's Dogma 2 (which I haven't pre-ordered) than Horizon Forbidden West (which I pre-ordered). edit: I prepurchased DD2 now, now idea how I'm going to manage playing 10 games at the same time now but whatever.

I am completely OBSESSED with Enshrouded. This game has consumed me. I've been playing every free minute I could get the past week. Which was about 4-5h a day after work... This my character: Arkas He's an archer/beastmaster hybrid. Level 12 now. I finally unlocked the skill that makes wild animals docile unless you attack, SUCH a relief! It has become really annoying to fight wolves and boars all the time... The base building tools are the best ones I've ever seen. You can build anything you want. Sure, it's cubes so there are some limitations but it all looks so beautiful. I adore the art style of the game. I wish textures were a little more crips. 5K does not look any sharper than 3K so I turned the resolution back down. My system still randomly reboots which REALLY sucks when you play an autosaving online game where you respawn at the last spawn point that might be far away from where you were before crashing/logging off. And it sucks extra hard when you're playing with a friend and they get booted out of your session too. So far I have only built a small cozy but very basic cliffside village for all my workers off the first fast travel spire. I'll hold off building something elaborate until I've unlocked everything which is going to take some time. The map is HUGE and gathering resources and unlocking blueprints is time consuming. But here are a few pictures of my base to show how gorgeous even a simple square little house can look. On the left is the hunter's cabin, the biggest building my characters home with all the storage. To the right is the blacksmith, further back is the carpenter in the two story house. Behind it is the farmer and then there's the rundown alchemist tower... This is the farmer's open little hut: And this is how you come up to the village from the flame shrine: I'm having a blast exploring the map. Like in FO4 everything you collect is useful for crafting so I find it all very rewarding. For a surival game it's very chill. You don't have to eat at all, food just gives you buffs. So I can spend hours working on my base in total peace. No camp attacks. Just a really relaxing game. And for Early Access it's super polished. I don't encounter any bugs. Everything works. Tons to do and see. Little notes to find telling you about the people that once lived there. If this was the final version I wouldn't even complain. It's empty, everyone but your crafting people are dead like FO76 used to be so that might be boring to some people. But I don't mind here. There's a story reason for it. WOuldn't find runnign across people though giving you quests in the future.
One thing I do hope they address is griefing. Currently when you host a public lobby without password anybody who joins can just go to your base, loot all your stuff and destroy everything. NMS figured that out ages ago, making everything within the base boundary protected. So I cannot just let strangers check out my cool future bases. Also loot isn't shared. So when you play together you have to decide who gets to keep what loot. And when your friend talks to your NPCs about something new they have to say you cannot get the conversation again. So I hope they rework that a bit.

Banishers
Despite the annoyance I feel with the surface dipping dialogues, the game is enjoyable.
Story so far. I get an idea what's going on. The why of the Curse is predictable.
Why game is enjoyable. Combat and movement are smooth, not clunky. There isn't any need to worry over ammo or keeping equipment in good repair etc. The only thing remiss is the dodge which is only one direction; backward. There's no rolling / jumping left or right. There's no voluntary jump, so to speak. The character can only jump across broken bridges, that's all. I suppose the quick turn is to make up for the lack.
From looking at the map, I shouldn't be heading back to the main area but instead move elsewhere to do more Hauntings so I'm presently starting again from the point at the beach because Red now has the rifle and Antea has a new power. There are blocked paths that Antea can now clear and Red with the rifle can now shoot at objects hanging from trees and cliffs.

We are back in play. After gaining the Prawn Suit from the Aurora (see the last video of repairing the reactor) we just so happen to discover a part of the ship that contained multiple pieces of the Seamoth so: WE UNLOCKED THE SPEEDY SUBMARINE!!!!! We also made some general discoveries so be sure to stick around the place as we fool around and think of what to do:

Completed the stealth trials - sidenote: that Keeper's voice was really at odds with his appearance. The Watcher one was annoying because the shell bots would block the path of one of the Watchers and having to wait for it to pass made me take too long. Finally got it after several attempts. Had to do the Shell-walker one twice because the first time I missed the blazing sun by only a few seconds. The Stalker one I got on the first attempt even though the second Stalker took its sweet time making an appearance. I had to stalk it instead. Good thing was killing all those Shell-walkers got me the 2 hearts I needed for more Adept gear. I think the only thing I need now is a Rockbreaker heart. Well, and a lot of critter parts for upgraded ammo pouches.
Headed south to explore the area, overrode the Tallneck to reveal more map. Cleared the cauldron infested with cultists. For the bullies they are, they sure were fraidy cats when it came to Stalkers. Ended up at Sunstone prison camp and met Janeva; agreed to find some escaped prisoners for her. Got the first one by accident since my path lead directly to the bandit camp she was hiding in. I actually encountered Ullia outside the camp but after the conversation with her the cutscene put me inside the camp instead. Doh! When I did this quest the first time, I had already cleared the camp before getting the escapee quest so this wasn't an issue. Ended up having to fend off all the rest of the bandits with my spear, but on story mode it was one swipe and they were down. This is the 4th bandit camp I've cleared and I haven't run into Nil again since after the first one. I was hoping to get his story out of him before finishing the prison quest so I could ask them about him.
Did the inheritance quest, helping Daradi against her shit of a brother Ranaman. Only fitting he get taken out by one of the Glinthawks he summoned. Went back to Meridian for some trading and to turn in trophies at the Hunters Lodge. Got a new quest from Talanah to help with Glinthawks attacking a village. I remember taking out the Glinthawks before but it wasn't as part a quest - I had just happened by. So yay for new content/context!
Not sure if I will pick up Erend's quest at this point or not. I'm trying to do more side stuff and save main quests for later. I still have the missing sword to hunt down and 2 more escapees to catch. If I recall, one of them is a pita to get to, and not just because of the multiple traps he's set. Plus the Hunter Lodge stuff, which I'm set to do next.

I'm replaying Life is Strange for the first time in forever, after binging the first season of Stranger Things last weekend, and listening to all the Tales From The Loop Penny Arcade podcasts at work. Has the same mysterious small-town school atmosphere while missing those delightful 80's Goonies vibes. But overall a very nice and nostalgic experience. Love the funky American high school atmosphere, and gotta admit I'm understanding the game's social dynamics on a whole other level after ten years of dating and relationships since it came out. Most of that just flew straight over my head in 2013. Honestly didn't believe friend-zoning was a real thing back then. Was so excited for Max to Ape Out with poor Warren. Ah, the blissful innocence of youth.... Am making a concerted effort to only use Max' power to save-scum conversations for the purpose of solving problems and trying to be the best person she can be, as well, rather than to snoop around in people's lives and use information she shouldn't have just to ingratiate herself. Which was a very satisfying from-nobody-to-popular narrative the first time around, but seriously slimy and shallow behavior. Also feeling way, way more sympathetic toward the paranoid veteran campus cop/best friend's stepfather character this time around. Poor guy is just trying to keep all these kids from killing themselves and each other! And there's legitimately so much foul shit going on behind the scenes that everyone is keeping from him even though it's his job to make sure the place is safe. I'd want to harass the people keeping mum just to protect themselves and set video cameras up everywhere, too. I'm not even too bothered with him striking Chloe in that one now-abandoned timeline. She steals his guns in order to carelessly mess around, smokes the house up, and every word out of her mouth is a lie. And she's actually charging at him when he does it. Corporeal punishment is a terrible thing both for instilling discipline and setting a constructive example of how to solve conflicts and problems, but she also clearly needs to learn that throwing her weight around and mindlessly pushing people's buttons has consequences. And being a kid won't protect her from that forever. If I can finagle him and Max starting out rough and ending up respecting each other, with him being in a good place with Chloe's mom, I'll definitely do that. In a vaguely similar vein I'm also nearing the end of my second Hogwarts Legacy playthrough. Last time my Ravenclaw guy only learned Imperio for use when sneaking and otherwise ignored the Dark Arts and potion-making in favor of plant-based combat, to get in good with the hottie teacher. My Bellatrix-Lite Slytherin girl, on the other hand, is absolutely crushing on Professor Sharp, is a dap hand at potion-making and care of magical creatures (because I read somewhere that sociopaths sometimes have an easier time empathizing with animals than people) and looooooves to use dark spells on "acceptable targets" like poachers and dirty little goblin "rebels". And what with Sebastian owing her his freedom and Ominis eating out of her hand, they're both well-positioned to join the Potions Professor in her harem when she gets a little older.... or when she's run out of Britain and takes over as the Dark Lady of some small Eastern-European country. Time will tell. Pretty much skipping through all the main quest conversations. The story was so overwhelmingly stupid, ridiculous and boring the first time around i just have no interest in reliving it, or even hearing a single word of the garbage writing. It's a disgrace that that was the best they could do, let alone that they thought it did justice to the great mechanics, awesome visuals and obviously fantastic worldbuilding. Only reason I'm advancing it at all is to access the much more interesting side missions and assignments. Honestly, if they had cut the entire Ancient Magic snowflake nonsense storyline out and just expanded Sebastian's questline and made it more personal to the player and central to Ranrok's machinations and the goblin rebellion, that would have served fine as a main plot. Did the saving-someone's-uncle quest earlier today and was reminded of the "characterization" Ranrok gets in that. Barf. Heard a lot of reviewers lament how hidden-away that little conversation is, and how much it "explains" about the villain. Because we all know that conflicts caused by interracial tensions, historical and cultural differences and skewed power dynamics can all be boiled down to one innocent soul meeting one particularly crazy asshole and being butthurt about their treatment that day. Which totally reflects the entire situation in some ways, because that seems vaguely meaningful for the villain's extremist motives, but also doesn't really because that would be logically idiotic and racist. Such great writing. It's almost like Rowling was on the same planet when they came up with it. Somewhere, Professor Binns is thoroughly annoyed that nobody listened enough in History of Magic to put a more interesting and believable goblin rebellion plot together. Nobody mourns lost potential in a school like a ghost teacher. Am definitely hankering for some Horizon Zero Dawn as well. MajorSlack's videos on youtube has given me some ideas for how to play it differently using some of the mechanics I've been neglecting until now. But think I need more time before the story will hit me properly again after four or five playthroughs, and it'd be a shame to replay it without that. That's one game where the writing actually lives up to the amazing gameplay. And the characters. Poor, sexy Erend... my Aloy instantly crushed on him when they first met in Mother's Embrace. She just... hasn't realized it yet.

Banishers
So I read that the side quests are not timed which is good. I would presume these SQs are referring to the aftermath of the Hauntings otherwise it wouldn't make sense at all given how the Hauntings are tied to the main story.
I had to drop a aftermath SQ after finding I cannot advance because Antea does not have the needed ability to remove the obstacle. In order to get it, I have to advance the main story a bit. This is where the game drops the ball because it doesn't tell the player the main quest at this point splits into paths / destinations and according to one poster, one of the destination will give Antea the ability I'm looking for. The other will not.
I have no idea if the second choice can be picked up later. If this ability is tied to one path and it's locked out if it's not chosen, that's like tying off a quarter of the map. I'll presume this is not the case.
I picked the path with the needed ability.

Finished the final trial area and got some spiffy new weapons from the Hunting Lodge (and one more ammo pouch to upgrade ). Hunted more trophies (Stormbird and Thunderjaw) for Talanah, then helped her take down Redmaw (it looked like a corrupted Thunderjaw, which would explain why so many had trouble with it). Ahsis was an ass until the end, no loss there. Talanah is now the Sunhawk, and Aloy an official member of Lodge.
Completed more side quests in Carja territory - found another of the escapees, helped a father with his daughter and the daughter with her secret boyfriend who didn't make it. Persuaded her to keep going. Also tracked down a fruit thief and a sword thief.
I feel like I did more than that but can't remember what else. Must be the lack of sleep thanks to Daylight Saving losing-an-hour nonsense. Oh yeah - the final cauldron, luckily I did it before the trials so I was able to override the Thunderjaw.
