It really surprises me TBH, maybe it is purely pandemic related. Do you know what ACOD numbers are compared too Vlahalla? Unfortunately we don't have any hard numbers on Valhalla at all, and only rough ideas for Odyssey & Origins. It's really frustrating they don't publish these things. I have enjoyed Valhalla but the wind has left the sails for me after a third of the time of playing Odyssey and that's because: * I have no interest in grinding through a second PT and there is no NG+ * There is not the variety of armour and builds to play around with. * There are no things like conquest battles to do for the hell of it or even the Arena * The Daily Missions are boring and repetitive * The Weekly's are also not that much fun

I certainly don't plan on a 2nd PT, regardless of NG+. Hopefully the DLC will be good and elevate the game a little bit.

I didn't have the impression that many people played the game based on online talk. I think we have to remember that the Internet, no matter how big it might seem- it's always the minority. At least maybe in terms of gaming discussion. I wasn't really talking about gaming forums, but the "social internet". I've been seeing more random Valhalla posts on social media lately and I'm not looking for them (I'm mostly following comic and hockey there not gaming). People managing to find Excalibur seems particularly popular. The game might have really good post-launch sales, probably boosted in part by the pandemic...and push backs (aka are there even games releasing in 2021 at this point? ).

Although, the vaults can be frustrating. The grind isn't as bad as in Valhalla despite using a similar gear system (except visual tiers needs to be "found" via chest or quest reward), transmog is already working and enemies gives upgrade materials, not just chests. I think you might like the half of the game, but the other half is 100% puzzles solving of both the jumping and logic kind...sometimes at the same time.

I am keen to play the game again as male Eivor, I am just not prepared to start a fresh PT without NG+. I have literally just been dipping in and playing a few hours for a few weeks now and not doing any upgrading and it has still taken me that long just to accumulate an extra 3,000 silver and 400+ Titanium. And that is targeted places that I know the stuff spawns and hunting down the roaming wealth guards to make it quicker as well as spending time catching/spearing fish. It was much the same with Odyssey but it is just too much grinding for resources and I am only doing it now in case the DLC requires upgrading armour so I don't have to do it then.

I had a quick look and almost tried the free offering on Ubisoft Connect but puzzles and I are just not friends and I am no good at the jumping type stuff.

Can you reverse Arbalist Bolts, I have not been able to. You can reverse Arbalist bolts, but it takes good timing. I've done it a couple of time and it one-shot them (on normal). You can even reverse red thrown attacks from Zealots too. I find it harder to use missile reversal if I'm using a shield as well, more often than not it tries to block instead of catch the "missile".

As to new settings, I've been wanting Asian settings for years. Some here know that I'm into Chinese history. There are lots of settings therein that could be great. South Asia, India included, has tons of history that could be used to build great AC stories. I would also like to see the Hundred Years War setting I'd read about recently, but only if they build it with much more historical fidelity than recent games. At some point, these fantasy elements gotta go, or be toned down by orders of magnitude. Spin them off into their own new IP. I'd play both. The question is whether they can capture that Chinese / Asian vibe and stay true to the lore (War of the Three Kingdoms or whatever period the setting is). The vid below is imbued with it because it's made by Chinese devs. They know their culture, the lore, mythology, etc. Ugh. Centipedes. Reminds me of old movies where the bad guys use centipedes to control people, bats flying out of someone, ghosts prowling old temples.

I was trying to decide where to put this vid. It's more on realistic sword fights in which one other game Kingdom Come Deliverance featured and now has appeared in a indie game called Hellish Quarts. I doubt AC games would adopt this combat style but it could be implemented, story wise, a short segment in which a NPC challenged the MC to a duel.

I found the KCD combat tedious, boring, bad and basically asking to be cheesed since it often didn't work as intended. Overall I think that game to be rather bland with some of the worst side quests I ever saw in a western RPG. So maybe it just wasn't the game for me.

It really soured me on this style of combat. It can be fun to watch, but it was a lot less fun to play. I'd prefer they not move in this direction.

I still have it on my wish list but even the lower prices haven't tempted me yet. If you want to buy KCD, wait for the price to drop really low. I agree KCD combat is tedious because it's difficult to get the moves right and there're too many key combos for different moves. I used a god mod when I play the game, including LP bypass because LP is another feature that's exasperating. Other than the two mods, I played the game as normal. It was ok. Nothing to scream about. It has flaws like so many other games. The romances are half baked and never really followed through after the roll in the hay. Most game romance are just a bone toss by the devs; here, have a chew, hope you like it. I suggest duels / brief sword plays for AC to alleviate the cycle of the same combat / assassination (when the MC is playing duo roles) but I doubt the devs could implement any interesting duels.

Does anyone happen to remember: in Brotherhood, if you have several flags of initiates and you deploy one during a fight, does it deploy the higher level ones first, or the lower level ones?
As an aside, this is the buggiest AC game I've played so far. OMG.

I just finished Brotherhood's main story, although I have other things to clear around Rome. Lots of things, actually. When I started sequence 8, I didn't know there wouldn't be an opportunity to exit the main missions and go back to roaming. I found I actually enjoyed going back to the modern world to see Desmond. Now I have two more games to get even more attached to him before he dies on me Valhalla spoiler: And I guess "the sixth" that Juno told him to go find is Layla? Something about them going through the door together, since we hear his voice at the end of Valhalla? Or am I going to meet someone else in the next two games? Anyway, Desmond >>>>>>>> Layla But now I can't pinpoint what my problem with Layla is. Desmond was driven/compelled to kill just like Layla was, and I have yet to see if he shows remorse. Maybe Layla's compulsion was less believable than Desmond's. Even though my own key presses technically killed Lucy. I'm currently still waiting for the longest credits in the world to roll so I can go clear the last Borgia tower and finish levelling up my minions.

If I had to guess the reason why I prefer Desmond is the story they are trying to tell with him and they pace they are going. I have never been a big fan of the modern day content, but with Desmond it came across to me that his story had something to do with what we were doing in the game for most of the time it was Desmond vs the Templars or Enzo vs the Templars. Now with Layla the Animus was just to find the item so they could do something different or find a location and combine what with the "RPG trilogy" that is all open world so you can spend dozens if not more hours with Eivor/Alexios/Kassandra/Bayek versus a couple of hours with Layla will also lessen the impact of that part of the game.
