I ran a nearly pure combat power through my first game (had a couple tech powers, partly for achievements), so decided to pick up biotics in NG+ so I could get Sucker Punch and Fastball. For Eos I mostly ran Throw, Turbocharge and Pull which was alright.
Respec'd after the vault into what was going to start as a more biotic focused character with Pull, Throw and Charge, then got biotic passives, combat passives, and I some in the tech passives. Ran most of Havarl with Throw, Charge, Pull. Initially it was fun, but the novelty has started to wear off. Got Flamethrower and made a favorite with it replacing Throw and that is sort of amusing.
I am at level 62 and have a lot more points than I know what to do with, but Charge gameplay is starting to feel a little repetitive. I crafted a Scattershot VII which was flat out terrible. Mostly I ended up running a Hurricane VII I got from a Strike Team and my crafted Carnifex from my first game. I really wish I had an old school ME2 or ME3 reload cancelable Claymore.
I haven't tried all the weapons yet, but is there anything with that sort of feel? What would be a fun build to mix things up? Don't want to do Cloak, TC and Charge. Might just get Annihilation Field for the lulz, but I don't know if it will be also get stale after a planet.

Charge, annihilation field and shield powered lance. Vanguard profile with annihilation always enabled. Charge, field debuffs enemy by 40% if build right and a melee with asari sword will wipe out a mob. The shotgun you would like is a Dhan which works nicely for this setup.
Same setup but adept profile for biotic explosions, charge to get you to enemies so annihilation debuffs them, blow em up with a shield powered lance. Shockwave can also be another substitute.

Does Annihilation prime shielded enemies?

It is supposed to.
There seems to be an issue with Charge and Annihilation field though, it seems like you can't really ever detonate an AF primed target with Charge. Not sure if this is actually intended or a bug. I think it would be related to how they are changing player position during the charge.
More importantly for whatever reason it seems like the target of the Charge isn't primed after impact, so I had to reprime them to detonate with Throw (don't have Lance yet, didn't respec).
Not entirely the end of the world, I ended up Charging to get into position, then using Throw on a target that is primed for detonation, and Charge could detonate other things primed by ammo or the team.
Dhan takes some getting used to, but it is ok. Unfortunately I am in the dead zone of level 60-69 where all the weapons and weapon mods mysteriously are absent from stores and loot drops, and unfortunately I had sold off all my shotgun mods last game, just have one melee mod laying around. Really would like a damage barrel.
I didn't equip a sword, actually still have an omni blade. Charge-Dhan-Melee seems to kill basic Kett.
Oh, and briefly just for the hell of it I took the Black Widow VII I crafted last run and charged around with it. Kind of a stupid setup, but sort of funny.

Im rolling with Charge, Cryo Beam, and Overload. I combo every thing and try to take advantage of Snap Freeze, while keeping my shields and health full through charge and life support. Fun fact the Cryo glove befits from snap freeze, Cyro ammo does too. For guns i use Dhan, Ushior, and Hurricane all with Omni-Converter.

Im sure now that its designed so that charge will never detonate annihilation field.

Odd, unusual or suboptimal. I didn't mean I was just carrying it around, I was using it as my primary and using it with Charge.

I have mostly stuck with AF, Charge and Lance (shield powered) although have a couple other things on favorites. Fooled around with different passives to try and see which I liked. Maxed Shockwave and also gave it a try in place of Lance, but the relatively long recharge didn't seem to be as good.
For the most part I have been running crafted Dhans. In the Shotgun passive I haven't been able to decide which I really like better between reload speed (and 2 shots) and the mag capacity (with 3 shots). Still hate the lack of reload canceling.
Switched to the biotic passive where combos cause knockdown on peon enemies to give it a try, and I think I hate it. Just makes it more annoying to run down enemies with half health.
I also tried messing with AF radius, but I think I like radius evo over the power recharge. I had meant to craft biotic recharge into some gear but haven't yet. Charge's cooldown is pretty fast regardless though, at least in Vanguard profile.
I thought about stocking up on Overdrive packs and actually using Favorites and profile switching in combat and burning Overdrives to bypass the cooldown, but not sure if I will bother. Not entirely sure I will finish this run after I get the 20th remnant console.

You don't run AF, Charge, and Lance with the Adept profile?

No, I wanted recharge and melee damage. I'll try Adept profile, but it seems like the game is mostly biased towards weapon and melee damage anyway.

So I was fooling around switching between Adept and Vanguard profile to see the practical difference. Effectiveness seems to be about a wash. AF is a little bigger with Adept profile. The damage dealt via combos doesn't seem to differ enough to matter.
Also slapped on the Engineer profile for the hell of it, and not surprising it was really only slightly worse than either of those. Noticeable though.
I didn't bother, but I assume Explorer 6 is really the best given the large weapon damage buff and some power buffs.
