So I'm doing a soldier build.
So naturally I was thinking of going all kinetic augments(+3% weapon damage) on my guns and shield augments(+2% shield capacity) on my armor.
Do these things stack? Or is it pointless to use more than 1 per item?

they stack
I would suggest adding weapon damage on your melee weapon. It increases weapon damage for guns. If using a rapid fire weapon I would suggest using a bio converter and seeker plasma system augmentations for that weapon. I had them on the piranha shotgun. It caused a lot of damage and made insanity much easier.
Since you're playing as a soldier, I would suggest investing points in the turbocharge power. It increases rate of fire and damage. Very helpful when facing a fiend or remnant destroyer
On my armor I used, for the chest, damage resistance, and for helmet, legs and arms, I used biotic power since I was using charge.
