I see a lot of threads saying that the plasma seeking augment is good on high rate of fire weapons.
I've been using a sonned with the augment. To be honest it seems to kinda suck. Used to be able to hit moving targets without the augment, but now it turns the bullets into these slower moving "homing shots" that don't connect immediately on pulling the trigger so anything moving horizontally you have a lot of difficult hitting (even by leading the target it doesn't help much).
What am I missing? What is it supposedly so good?

It's mainly good for shotguns, not high rate of fire weapons. Piranha specifically.
It basically gives your shotgun far greater range than it normally would have, at the penalty of damage reduction. It ensures all your pellets hit even from mid range, which is pretty damn useful against fiends and destroyers and kett ascendant.

Ugh alright, I saw some posts saying it was supposed to be good for high rate of fire weapons. Guess I'll make another one without the aug. Is there any projectile augments good for high rate of fire weapons like the sonned?

I think they do more harm than good so I tend not to use them.

I use it on the piranha along with bio converter. On my insanity run that I did, I was able to get nearly 1400 damage with each shot. And when I used turbocharge, my damage increased. Taking down a fiend and a remnant destroyer took no time.

I experimented early with this and gave up when it just seemed to circle shielded targets in the first encounter I had with it. I too am probably missing something.

Most augments that change projectile type suck as a rule of thumb.

Just to throw this out there but Kett weapons already use homing plasma projectiles. They just move a lot faster. Soned, whatever that full auto AR one is all fly towards a target. Why you found it easier to hit targets before.
The Augment works the same, but they move slower so it has more time to home in on targets. When they 'dodge' it still causes them to miss though. Not sure if it's intended, but you can combine the plasma tracking augment with the explosive plasma. It kills full auto weapons though. It turns stuff into semi-auto, your reserve and total ammo gets cut in half but you get explosive rounds along with homing. Disciple with that can be pretty solid considering the dmg output per shot it has.
Still never bothered with it though. Just did a lot of experimenting.

I tend to stay away from behavioral augments now. Unless it adds electrical damage, infinite ammo or damage bonuses to armor or shields I probably won't bother.

As far as I could tell, I couldn't use plasma seeking without plasma charge augment already on.
The thing I am wondering is if plasma seeking helps or hurts damage. It indeed makes all plasma pellets hit the target, but also reduces the amount of pellets that fire in half.
That's with a scatter shotgun anyway.

It's actually very good on a Revenant assault rifle. First off the gun is not the most accurate thing out there so the tracking helps a lot with that. In addition, the mod allows you to hit target around a corner and over the top of barriers that they may hide behind. It also tracks moving targets so again, works very well here. I think it would also work well with an SMG, helping the accuracy, and it also tends to extend the range somewhat. It's much better than what some are claiming here, IMO.

I hate seeking plasma augment, i mean a point of a gun and shooting is to aim myself. This augment kills the entire fun of gameplay for me atleast. I wish they just make the guns more accurate especially assault rifles as some of us love using them. If they cant be bothered then just give me a stat based augment that raises the accuracy by 100% on some weapons.

I used it on a hurricane with incendiary rounds and could empty the clip blind from cover and chew through destroyer/fiend armor pretty quick. But they were slow, big targets. And i wasnt running around and jumping everywhere.

It works alright on the Piranha X with Bio-Converter. Unfortunately the damage nerf is pretty severe and smaller enemies will dodge the slower plasma rounds.
Generally I keep one for big, slow boss types.
