Are there any fat people in Mass Effect games? Bioware trying hard to please feminists and LGBT community, but fat people are taboo? Or everyone is eating healthy in the future. Humans AND aliens. I didn't beat Andromeda so idk about this game. So far slim people everywhere.

Asari having the same face is a bigger issue. Making fat people requires wider rigs and armor designs that make sense for it. Gotta prioritize and in case you ask, no, making the majority of people obese is not the no 1 priority.

Or everyone is eating healthy in the future. Probably not but also sounds rather realistic that we won't be having any issues perfectly controlling our weights in 150 years

This thread is totally bait, but I'm bored.
Random NPCs having varying body shapes would require more development time and resources that could probably best spent elsewhere. It is much more important to give NPCs more variety in faces, something that was lacking in this game. (the Asari clone army)
Obesity also wouldn't have made sense for anyone either on the Pathfinder team or on Shepard's crew in the first three games. Some degree of good health and physical fitness is basic requirement for military service, and while the Pathfinder team are civilians, they spend a lot of their time basically peforming the same job. A person who was fat would not be able to adequately perform the tasks necessary for that job, which is why real world military organizations have physical fitness programs and weight standards. Someone who would need to sit down and catch their breath after a light jog would be a liability.

Why does SWTOR, an MMO, have different body types, but not MEA or DAI? Just wondering.

Why does SWTOR, an MMO, have different body types, but not MEA or DAI? Just wondering. SWTOR was at the time the most expensive game ever developed. It had a budget that dwarfed that of any of the Mass Effect games and a much larger development team. I'd argue it was mistake however for the devs to include obese characters. Originally they weren't going to but it was a common fan request, so it got put into the game. All that resulted in is immersion-breaking scenes where you have Republic or Imperial military NPCs who look like they weigh 300 lbs. It's silly and ridiculous, and all so players could create their own body type 4 characters with equally silly names like Master Thunderthighs or Darth Blubberbutt.

The Witcher series has overweight people in it I think. Maybe it has less to do with budget and more to do with style and direction.

Why does SWTOR, an MMO, have different body types, but not MEA or DAI? Just wondering. SWTOR models/heads scaled terribly to the bigger body types, both three and four (and BT1 too). SWTOR animations are also less complex and frequent. Even in Inquisition, Qunari who is seven feet tall and four feet across almost never fits in the frame properly (and slouches terribly) and has other chars body parts clipping through him. If you start adding a new body rig for the Ryder, it increases the complexity of every animated sequence, and gods know what else, including armor... I have played a MMO where the sliders caused bodies clip through armor....

And probably with the fact talent has left Bioware house long time ago. CD Projekt Red is probably a lot better developer now. Since EA is dictating what and how Bioware will do things.

I don't think it's common to have different body types. Some games do it and some games actually allow you to have a different body type for your own character, but most I think are cookie cutter. Dragon's Dogma comes to my mind as giving you leeway with your own character design as well as seeing different body types for NPCs in the game.

Tbh I'd be all for picking build types for Ryder. I want my protagonist to muffin top his shirts.

this thread nailed it, why is it top priority to please the LGBT and feminist community, but not a top priority to please the obese community? the management in Bioware are bunch of hypocrites. if you want to make diversity a huge deal, then you better be fully committed to it. black, brown, Muslims, lesbians, homos, trans, and etc. all of them need to be included. otherwise, this game cannot be called a full racially diverse game.

This movie scene illustrates why fat characters shouldn't be squadmates:
