Hi there pathfinders
don't you realize that there are a lot of similarities between Andromeda and the trilogy?
for example
ancient alien technology, which is used by other civilizations: protheans= remnants
the protagonist ineracts with that technology: Shepard interacts with prothean beacon, Ryder interacts with vaults
a squadmate was already investigating the ancient alien technology: Liara= PB
the bad guys abducts and investigate and turn milky way species and new ones into monsters: Reapers, Collectors= Kett
the bad guys analyze the other species: Harbinger: " krogan: sterilized race, potential wasted, asari: reliance upon alien species for reproduction shows genetic weakness, human: viable possibility... impressive genetic malleability, Aggression factor useful if controlled, if emotional drives are subjugated. etc, salarian: insufficient lifespan, drell: insufficient numbers, turian: too primitive, etc negative thins but still analysis, and the Kett say something similar, turian: exoskeleton useful, krogan, powerful, etc, asari power biotic, etc
a new galaxy, new characters, no relation to milky way or the trilogy or Shepard but it's still basically the same with different names, except for conquering new worlds and make then inhabitable

It is known. Would also add..(in spoilers cause a few relate to ending) citadel = nexus mako race to finish = nomad race to finish choose new leader Anderson versus Udima = choose new leader Morda, Augsut, Moshai, Salarian PF council that gets on your ass = addison, tann, kesh, and the turian that get on your ass planet scanning = super slow annoying planet scanning I think we could go on and on and on about the similarities (there are loads). There things don't bother me too much, personally, becuase I kinda see this game more as a reboot than an expansion...so similar features make sense.

And this is bad... how?
Andromeda proved it wasn't throwing away the thematic underpinnings of the old trilogy, and is using them in new and (personally) more interesting ways. In fact, I'd even say they're doing them better.
Remnant, for example, is a lot better explored and developed as a game theme than Protheans were in the first game. In the first game, Protheans were an abstract context when you were otherwise fighting around in colonial prefabricated facilities. There was little information, and little role. Here, Remnant are a mysterious race that is gradually explored across the game- from their technology to their legacy and their downfall. I'd say the Remnant were better protheans than the protheans, and their tech is a much better end-game for the theme of the story (colonization) than ME1 (a race for a macguffin).
Similarly, the Kett are better antagonists than the Reapers because they're both more relatable and more practical. They have superficial similarities in being egotists with a penchant for genocide and genetic theft, but at least there's a rational for the Kett- they don't sit around in dark space waiting for species to develop for nonsensical reasons. Kett reasons are abhorent, but they make sense- this is an assimilation empire, and so it conquers to spread it's 'enlightenment.' It has a clear goal- dominance- vis-a-vis the Reapers 'we'll just keep killing things rather than keep threats from developing.'
Politics are refreshingly refreshed (and less banal), conflicts are more manageable and less absurd, and there's much better pacing and development of the chosen themes. We even get actual introspection on AI development and implications.
I don't view Andromeda as a cheap repeat of the ME trilogy's themes- I view them as picking the trilogy's themes and doing them right.
(Or at least better.)

Remnants are different enough and we never had Prothean vaults exploration and puzzles on the scope & scale like in Andromeda. It's one of the best and most fun aspects of the game. Much bigger issue with rehashed Krogan arc, especially in a whole new galaxy. Or rehashed squadmates.

I have noticed these things, yes. I must say, I find the Kett to be a poor substitute for the Reapers. I'll take Harbinger and his Collecters over these tits, any day. With the Reapers I got a real life sense of doom, but with the Kett? Nothing. I find them to be very disappointing enemies!

I like that we see the new take on the MET themes, most of all so far I like the inverse of Geth-Quarian situation in Remnant-Angaran. IMO this thematic continuation with a new take and a new tone, while providing a plot that is moving in rather exciting dungeons (well for me) interspersed with planets each with a planetary story told in shorter stories and with a crew each sporting a personal story, relationships AND loyalty missions is a winning blend. It's like ME1 meets ME2, with a side of SWTOR. Each of their franchises have repeating philosophical issues/themes they bring up and look at in each follow up game. KOTOR-SWTOR, DA franchise and MET/MEA all do that.
Sorry if my response is silly, I was hoping to play a little, but I am falling asleep at the keyboard :( No Andromeda for me tonight. Aww.

Much bigger issue with rehashed Krogan arc, especially in a whole new galaxy. Or rehashed squadmates. I thought the Krogan element was one of the best aspects of Andromeda, actually. It took a major point that the original trilogy workedto create- that Krogan survival was as much a matter of cultural reform as the genophage- and carried it to an endstate rather than have Wrex contradict himself. For the first time since a businessman, we saw Krogan as something other than 'hypermasculine brutish tribals who do violence for fun.' Oh, they're still agressive- and fun- but now they try at civilization. They make alliances. They make compromises. They have interests, which do and do not affect their personal grudges, which themselves are a lot more relevant and contemporary than 'we got kicked down a long time ago back when we were the villains.' The Krogan threat was moderated to less ridiculous extremes, and I love that about them. It makes them more equal allies/peers to feel uncomfortable about, rather than a potentially completely disproportionate threat. They're not simply tribals anymore, and that's glorious.

It was too much to hope for that Krogans will not be in Andromeda. They got a planet full of Krogan quests, while Turians did not. And we already been to Tuchanka and did tons of Krogan quests. But not to Palaven, one only one big Turian quest. With a Krogans, of course. I know folks love krogans, that's why.

The entire game is a rehash of all the best bits from the trilogy thrown into one game.
"Refined"
"With a twist"
PeeBee is Liara if she wasn't boring.
Vetra is Miranda only not a bitch.
Etc....

At least the Turians maintain their place in the game, Androneda Krogan are just so, meh.

I thought they immprove- they're finally escaping the hyper-masculine-tribal role of comedic sociopathy. Seriously- we have Krogan nerds now.
Krogan nerds. I want a Krogan LARPer as my next squadmate. I want an awkward Krogan adolescent, rather than some super soldier/grizzle oldtimer. I want his reason for adventure to be the quest to be cool enough to get laid. I want his story to include the Krogan girl who bullies him because she likes him. I want to see an over-protective Jewish grandmother coming to his loyalty mission at the most embarassing moment. I want to see him get so excited that he headbutts half the crew, and we have the choice to try to headbutt him back. I want more Krogan rearing family stories, because they're fucking hilarious. But most of all, I want more Krogan nerds. This is something the original trilogy never had, and is way too good to pass up.

How is it bad????
This a STORY based game. By going to a new galaxy Bioware had the chance to create an entirely new story, something fresh. Instead they just take the original story and "change the names to protect the innocent."
They need to start by putting Mr Walters in charge of ... oh I don't know, the janitorial staff. Then they need to hire a REAL writer that can bring a new and refreshing story to the game. Of course that would cost money, something EA is very unwilling to part with as long as suckers keep buying this sub par crap.
