HIs final point is apt, my first Playthrough took 109 hours, and I had fun, did almost everything available, but second one was Main quest only, that took 9 hours on New Game+
Basically EOS Get Nomad, do tRee Monoliths, fix Vault, start Colony, leave Nexus, Aya quick stops, Havarl free Scientists Voeld, Moshae Kadaea Porrt, talk to traitor, get his Datapad Archon Flagship Nexus quick stop Khi Tasiri (False Meridian) Scan Scourge Meridian (Bypass all the rest by doing this.
End result is pretty much the same, never crafted a thing, was level 62 at start, 69 at end, so only used the same three teir 8 weapons, I ended first play through with. No Memory stuff, or anything that wasn't absolutel y required to advance main mission, no AVP spent, no APEX (Didn't do Multi-player, automated them first time), no collecting anything. A single goal, get to Meridian ASAP.
According to the Lore, all Vault worlds are fixed by turning on Meridian, not just the golden worlds, so theoretically all are ready for outposts, but I expect game won't allow it, unless I do each vault first. Even Habitat 7, should be repaired, by turning Meridian on. So no need for the manual method, which I refused to trigger, first time around, as it meant wasting vital resources, on that, when outposts are barely set up, I wasn't instigating more typical Nexus incompetance. Naming it what they did, was even worse. Implying I thought what they were doing was a good idea, and not the gross stupidity it actually was. When we needed to expand the settlements we had already started, not start a new one, on an uninhabitable world.
This makes me wonder, how different this 9 hour save will actually be, to the 109 hour one, assuming we can continue, with the save data. Will I only get Eos Colony, which is the only one I did any missions towards, never mind completed, and even that was only getting outpost started.

Funny as usual, and Yahtzee made a lot of valid points. He's right that eyes and and facial animations were never brilliant in the OT, but god, MEA managed to make it worse. How is it even possible after having the experience of DAI to improve from?

Eh, Yahtzee isn't supposedly a fan of RPGs (didn't even Witcher get a relatively negative review from him?) as I remember. Should only be taken seriously on obvious writing failures and bad mechanics.
That said, he does bring up a point or two, just don't take him literally if you're an RPG lover.

Worse yet, they weren't Bioware B teams, they were farmed out to other EA divisions. This is the sort of crap you get when the bean counters are in charge of production, instead of the people actually producing the product.

In what world would that be feasible??

My question is Did anyone really sit down around a table and, prior to release, looked at the state of the game and went "yep, all of this is ok, we are totally getting a pass"? In what world would that be feasible?? The Financial world. Of course the devs knew, and were privately saying game needed more polishing, it has a solid core, but needed shining up. Unlike the Witcher (Yahtzee, gave it a grudging recommended), which delayed the release another 6 months, for just such a polish. EA set a last possible date for financial reasons, just before the 2016-17 tax year ended, which is all about satisfying investors, and not buyers. Lesson CDPR learned, from other devs experience, that BioWare didn't; Don't sell the Dev Studio and/or IP to a Publisher, or you lose all control of the Studio/Franchise, and publishers make all their decisions to benefit their market value. EA has a reputation for destroying dev studiios, for short term increases in market value, MEA releasing in March, no matter how ready, was such a decision.

As long as the accounts show a return of investment, and this is the entire EA brand, not just one game/franchise. They have never cared about any specific studio, and would close down Bioware tomorrow, to give the right figures. EA own the Franchise, they can tell any of their studio's to make the next ME game. They can call any group of devs, "BioWare", they own that Francise as well. That's what they did for MEA, from the looks of it.. BioWare is whatever EA say it is, I expect most of the Ooriginal devs, from the KOTOR/DAO days, are long gone, already, beyond a few "Names".

If the next installment of the franchise does poorly, they'll probably just pull the plug, shitcan the dev team or relegate them to support work and move on to the next thing.
See: Activision, Radical and Prototype.
