... will always run for the nearest paper or data pad and write their final moments and make sure to give some emontional reason why their life matters.
JOM, but what is the problem with the people that wrote these games? I just... is it so hard to understand that reading some people final moments like it was a book narrative is bizarre? There is more than one datapad that you find in this game that the person who wrote it is interrupted mid sentence, like you're reading their thoughts.
Am I being unreasonable here? Should I consider a note that reads something like "they are burning the house, oh my god the fire is spreading, it's so bright and hot and yellow... I love my sister and I hope she she lives a good life, if anyone reads this please tell her I love her. Oh god the fire caught my leg! The pain... I'm in pain please send help, please s." to be good writing?

If I was about to die unexpectedly in a possibly violent fashion I might leave a note or voice mail message.

If I was about to die unexpectedly in a possibly violent fashion I might leave a note or voice mail message. I dunno, I think I might have larger concerns at that moment. Like trying to stay alive. Yeah I always found it a little odd these people took their last moments to partake of some correspondence they have no idea if anyone will ever find.

To whom it may concern,
I am taking the time to write on this datapad or leave an audio file of my final moments instead of finding a way to stay alive. Tell my friends, family I love them all and hope they understand.
Your truly

They could be recording it on their omni-tool which transmits it to a nearby datapad. The omni-tool could also just record their last moments as a built-in Black Box feature. That explains (potentially) Mass Effect.
As for DAI, I'm not sure. I think the Dwarves did about the same thing in Lord of the Rings in the Mines of Moria. "They are coming..."

The realistic thing people would do is instantly wipe their explicit image and video folders to avoid posthumous embarrassment.
"Pathfinder, this datapad has been wiped. Metadata suggests it was 8 zetebytes of video."

It's an interesting point you make, and it is indeed something I've seen occurring more and more often in videos games.
In fact I'm reminded of...
Hold on someone is at the door. They seem to be yelling and holding something. I hope nothing bad happens to me.
As I was saying I think that......

Well, if you're a fucking spy and you're pretty likely to die, the least you can do to sick it to the enemy is to make sure to give your team the info they needed.
Do you honestly as a lone soldier or engineer expect to outrun and survive a kett patrol who up till now have shown themselves to be rather technologically and militarily advanced?
They took out each ark one by one. They wiped the first Eos settlements. They dismantled the angaran army and government.
Do you think hiding in a cave of some planet chockful of radiation or freezing to death is going to make it any better?

Are you talking about notes in general, or just the ones from people dying?
Because the notes is worldbuilding 101, a chance to first show you something visually and then add to what happened with context from a note. Every open world RPG and many other RPG's use this technique.
Guess i never had any issue with it. Just adds flavour to the world, and that is what i like *shrug*

It's tricky though. I guess most of the time any location with dead bodies would just be mysteriously dead unless there was some intricate way to gather clues, but I suppose this is where SAM could really come in handy to fill in the blanks. Of course, SAM wouldn't be able to add concrete information to provide context, just speculation. Like with the dead angara on Kedara. You'd never figure out who did it unless the angara had surveillance or something.

Is it exclusive to inquisition and Andromeda? Someone needs to play the OT again, especially ME3 (they're in ME2 as well, I just use ME3 cuz people were constantly dieing since reapers) as it's not new lol.
Doesn't bother me one bit either as they're so trivial to the main game.

This is more of a videogame problem than a BioWare problem. You can level the complaint against nearly any game that features text/audio logs or written notes, e.g. Witcher 3, Bioshock, Deus Ex, etc.. In a lot of ways, it's just a conceit of the medium kinda like obnoxious hacking visuals you see in movies (This hack is 98% complete...); the writers need a shorthand to tell an engaging story and unfortunately, it isn't especially realistic.
However, death notes are clearly exacerbated by open world design. Environmental storytelling is quite difficult, as it requires a decent number of assets and development to actually amount to anything, and the result might go completely unnoticed depending on the story being told. When you have an open world to build, it's more time effective just to have the writers whip up a monologue and send it to the level designers so they can make a quick vignette for it.
More importantly, it requires a greater degree of collaboration between the writers and level designers, and I think it's fair to say that inter-developer communication is something BioWare Montreal probably need to work on.

I would imagine 22nd century technology would have speech to text technology.
How else would you explain alien datapads being in English?
As to their existence, well... out of the hundreds of people, I'm sure 1 of them may have been smart/stupid enough to record what was happening.

Nope. MET had several "last notes, last recordings." I don't think it's exclusive to Bioware, either.

The ones that stick out as being truly right before they die are those where the character is actually leaving imortant information behind that needs to survive. Most others seem to mostly be diary notes that aren't left in the heat of battle.

Audio logs that are recorded as text. It is the only way to not see them as utterly ridiculous. Of course, the way kids text these days, it IS possible that they a few would do it as they were being burned alive, shot, etc.

The coming of the grim reaper is always sudden and unpredictable. If the devs want those chars / NPCs to matter, have the pages of their lives revealed in in-depth emails and journals.

JOM, but what is the problem with the people that wrote these games? Same thing that's wrong with a lot of game writers? People who wrote things like: - The notes left by engineers in ME1's Bring Down The Sky - The goodbye video left by the Quarian in Tali's ME2 LM - The notes left in ME3's Mars Archive, scattered around Benning, London, Blue Rose of Illium, Weshra's note, etc. It's a convenient and efficient way to provide context in a space (or in some cases, a delivery quest).
