I dealt with the black box bug on both the start of Peak 15 (where the VI is,) and on Ilos. I was pretty happy last week when I beat ME1 on the PS3. It was the first time I'd seen Ilos the way that it was intended. The viewmode workaround gets the job done, but I hate how everything looks like it's under fluorescent lighting. Sadly, I read that this can happen with non-AMD processors as well, but it's far more unlikely.
I'm not terribly surprised to here that there isn't going to be a Remaster any time soon. That takes away dev time from new games and that's not where BioWare is focused at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if they did a remaster years from now. Like in 2022, for the 15th Anniversary of Mass Effect or something like that.
Count me in as someone that definitely grumbles about bugs in the ME series. I don't scream or cry, but I do note them and I do complain about them. Like the crashes on both platforms that love to randomly crop up, especially with anything DLC related. If they ever did a Remaster, I'd just want those bugs fixed. I think the graphics of the series has aged very well, regardless of platform. I'm playing the ME series on my PS3 for the first time and even ME1 looks pretty damn good on a 1080p TV.
