i had noticed that also and it was a bit disappointing though not game breaking . It would have been nice to watch it extend , open up new sections which could even include extra minor quests, because we really need more of those (since it seems to be the main purpose of the game ).

When I realized that my mining was for nothing (like sometimes as small as 4 ore to 34) I never turned the mining on again. (wich was a win since SAM did not shout out that here can mine every twenty seconds.) But when I realized that the mining was just for me to get a new armor i stop altogether. (Its far easier just to breakdown stuff, and no SAM telling me I can do it.
I had the vision that me mining was something the Nexus needed to finish, or my colony needed, and that I when finding a miningspot was to setup a mine for the colony. Next let down was the Colony itself, since it was kind of big deal to chose, and it was not. Third let down was Pod release, totally b-shit, it should have impacted the story how you chose to put people to work.
But the absolute letdown was that I/Ryder did not discover anything, and my twin thought I did.
Uprising half of let say 20K people if that many was awake decides when they run from Nexus to settle on 2 diffrent planets, not the closest one where the Nexus decided to put down their people, because a planet are to small for 10K people. So they take their shuttles to 2 diffrent unknowns instead gambling high. so 5K per planet, and for one planet it is enough to kick of the invaders that have taken a whole planets of Angarians? 5K is not even enough to take Ireland, maybe Island since they only have 200K people living there.
Its strange that non of the planets have different climate then one. And non of the planets have more then one region to explore.

Too bad there couldn't be a shooting range added. Have a dance club added. Show a docking area with shuttles arriving and leaving for outposts on the planets. Maybe that will happen in a dlc or a sequel. SHOOTING RANGE!!!!! We need to have a shooting range!! It sucks investing research points into a crap gun when you are so limited (and I scanned EVERYTHING)!

I was also under the impression that the 'twin' would somehow be meaningful in the game. I'm nearly finished with my first run, and have thus far been completely underwhelmed by the twin. So far, the impact of that 'character' has been little different than one of the memory fragment cutscenes.
I would have liked to see the exterior view of the Nexus progress as the story did. With all of the pods being thawed, the rescue/discovery of the other arks, setting up outposts, etc.. one would have thought you'd see more of the station finished. More areas inside to get to (quarters for the rest of the crew, not just Ryder and Peebee, for example.), more people from the various races and such. With the wealth of resources available, between mining, breaking down gear, loot, etc.. you'd think we'd have used it for something other than making our own weapons and armor.
It does tend to feel like there was an opportunity there that was overlooked.

I never had the impression we would actually build it, hammer in hands lol, it's more like The Crucible in ME3.
The changes are subtle but they happen, during loading screen to land on Nexus you will see the bottom part is getting more "complete" and if you did the side stuff for the Arks they will also be docked there, the Information Wall will also give you a status update on the Nexus/Arks. It's either tied to game completion/progression or total planets Viability/AVP.
It kinda sucks more parts of the Nexus aren't unlocked, and you can't access the other docked Arks.

I expected the exterior to change as the game progressed but not for us to have an active hand in its construction. There were details that was added over time, though, like the asari and salarian ark.
I was very happy to see how the contents of the interior changed as the game progressed and even depending on some of the choices like the angaran residents. I liked those details and it was very much what I was hoping I'd see.

I was under the impression it would grow by itself the more Cryos I woke up and the more viability points I gathered. But the view from operations is the same from start to finish. There aren't even more NPCs on the Nexus. At least not noteable so. Most of them stand around anyway, forming some road obstacles for you. I remember them and some magazines saying that the Nexus would come to life depending on your actions. Well, apparently not.

No, I mean the look of the Nexus from the outside. Didn't they have a representation of that middle and bottom part being added as the game goes on? As shown here: 1:10 Unless my version of the game is special, middle and botom sections are already mostly complete at the moment of Hyperion's arrival. Oh, these videos. These goddamn beatiful videos that made me ultrahyped for the game and preorder it at the first chance after seeing these... False advertising for sure. I hate it how different the game came out to be as to what these videos are advertising. To explain in narrative terms, the narrative is different - the Hyperion arrives (for some reason) much later after the Nexus, where the whole uprising already happened, that's why it was already mostly completed. Well yes, you could argue that "those were just the plans" of the initiative and you wake up in this post-uprising phase, where a lot of the stuff has already settled, tough I expected my hero to be there, on board with Jien Garson and start building it, but instead we get... meh... These trailers, man. They promised so much. So goddamn much, I shouldn't have fallen for this.

Nexus definitely changed over time. Boxes were removed, spaces opened up. The cultural center, Vortex and tech labs weren't open in the beginning. Hydroponics and apartments were available later. Also, though we don't really see them, there was a news broadcast that said some, I can't remember what they called them, but neighborhoods or wards were newly opened in on of the arms.
So yes, it's subtle, but it definitely is being repaired as colonies are being settled. I think it's done in direct relation to placing colonies and increasing the viablity of the planets.
But I do wish we'd have more say in what gets done first. Or a better ability to customize our own quarters. That, I had expected. Like changing some of the furniture and such.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting anything crazy just for it to be built overtime. Kinda sad would have been a very nice touch.

I figured the cleaning up of clutter during the first third of the game was supposed to be symbolic of the repairs they were making.
I hadn't had the impression building the Nexus would be part of the game though - there's a prequel novel that's set on the Nexus, so from that it seemed obvious to me that the thing was going to exist in a mostly-complete state before the game starts.

While I didn't think it was necessary to post this, I wasn't suggesting I actually believed Ryder would personally build the Nexus. What I meant is the marketing for the game suggested that building would largely happen during the game. That didn't happen as the Nexus was already largely complete before we even arrive. Yes, there are subtle changes. However, nothing significant or truly visible stands out over the course of the game. The Nexus really doesn't change all that much, and I find that a little disappointing.

I assumed it would look more complete the more Arks we recovered. Guess not.

Yes, clearly it was falsely advertised. Like that's something new for BW. Just like "your twin will be out there, in the world", yeah, more like in a coma 90% of the game I still remember the "there will be no ABC endings"

It kinda sucks more parts of the Nexus aren't unlocked, and you can't access the other docked Arks. Wouldn't matter if you could. All of them say 'Hyperion' on the walls when you're doing their respective missions. LOL
