I love playing melee biotic... but the game does not reward better control by player.
We are humans. We get joy out of learning new stuffs and getting better at things we enjoy.
...Melee biotic is fun. The game even promotes us to play it such way by giving us tools like drain punch and Juggernaut shield.
But what`s the point?
Half the time perfectly placed Jump landing punch won`t damage the enemy.
Half the time perfectly placed downed punch won`t damage the enemy.
Half the time The punch does not happen because it refuses to happen. Somebody forgot to take their parkinson medications?
..and everytime that happens the very enemy who should have died slap you in the face with their bullets.
No, I am 100% sure it`s not the lag issue.
It`s either glitch or intentional programming to protect enemies to make things harder.
I should be rewarded for perfectly reacting and controlling my character, but the game simply refuses to do so. For god`s sake the dog`s sync move should never punish player by canceling whatever action we are doing to avoid their biting.
So.. I am playing an action game that does not reward me for learning and getting better at controlling my character. Very disappointing... and discouraging.

90% of shooter games I've played have horrible melee controls, the only exceptions that come to mind are Metal Gear Rising, and Fallout 3 and 4.

Fallout's melee is kind of terrible, and MGR isn't even kind of a shooter.
As for the above, mea's melee is too simplified to support anything other than spamming, and yes they could overhaul it, but no they aren't going to spend than kind of money. Under the current runtime, the biggest issue is both input lag and state-check lag, and MEA has metric shit-tons of both; in addition to this there's this neat little feature where any enemy that can sync you targets you and is almost close enough to sync and actively trying to, your melee will straight up lock the fuck up, and so will reloading.
They may at some point be able to fix the state-check and sync bullshit, pretty unlikely they'll fix the input lag.

This is something new for BW as well.. but intentionally protecting downed enemy from getting several punch is just stupid. I am not sure if this is patch effect since i was a scrub melee player before patch. ....I just want this action game to react properly to my control. sad.

People complained about ME3's melee hitbox sometimes but at least it locked on and stayed locked on if you commited to it. I.e. a krogan heavy melee if you're close enough will guaranteed hit, and not just flail near the enemy.
In MEA it's like you roll the dice sometimes, especially if you're playing a vanguard. Depending on the angle you charge and how the enemy is facing, you might completely whiff, even if point blank.
Biower pls.

Aside from the camera spazzing out occasionally, the duelist's melee is pretty reliable as long as your crosshair is on the target.
