I have never seen anything so supremely broken in my life
Nowhere is safe. You don't hear them coming, there is no audio cue in any way. If this were the only problem I'd say fine; stupid, not very well thought out from a game play developing stand point, but whatever.
Are they underneath, or above you, with a thick layer of whatever is used to make ceilings and floors in this galaxy? Irrelevant: solid objects are no obstacle to these colossal wizard toads.
Are you 30 feet away? Better be on host otherwise-BOOM! Dead. You thought you were plenty far away, but it was me, broken mechanic bringer of frustration toad all along!
I am drunk tired and annoyed.

The trick is to drop it slight away from them - particularly in a corner or blocking a path that forces them to go around. If there is no alternate path in the immediate area, it will lock the pathing portion of their AI up.

I've yet to see one fiend coming that sync'd me. I've never been sync'd by one that I can see. You are in a small room with your back to a wall with out of bounds behind you and all of a sudden you are getting your head bitten off.
They do not fit with the mutli level small room map designs.

I do not think anyone should have a problem if they displayed ping in seconds (including a couple fraction digits), and if they really did not implement this because of an idea that people would be scared of milliseconds, I do not think they would have been putting much thought in on this issue.
