At present, I have three strike teams at level 20. A couple of them have now developed enough negative traits that gold runs are now at 38%. Acquiring a new strike team would cost 120 MF. If I retire a team, would the cost of a new strike team drop or remain the same?

If you retire one first the new strike team will only cost you 80.

Lol my level 20 strike team with 5 positive traits and no negative traits has a similar success chance to your team. Terrible game design.

Lol my level 20 strike team with 5 positive traits and no negative traits has a similar success chance to your team. Terrible game design. There's way more than 5 traits to counter though, so it's just the missions you have now. The system works fine, but I wish we had access to mods like ClassHallCommander from World of Warcraft (It helps you select the missions that your teams will do best against)- it's in essence the same system we see in this game.

Don't retire, you can retry failed missions, just knock out all the Bronze/Silver (they should still have 88+ percent chances at worst on those), and then throw one or two of your bad teams at the Golds over and over. You'll still get most (or all) of them accomplished.

Thanks for the confirmation.
I guess I can use those stacked with negative traits to do silver and bronze as their success rate has remained high. Maybe I can invest in purchasing equipment for my new team.

Maybe I can invest in purchasing equipment for my new team. If you are fairly active with the app, you should have no problems in purchasing additional teams, so that you can retire your high level teams once they get too many negative traits. I don't have the app since I have a Windows Phone, so I have to make due to the client itself, still I am able to have more than enough mission funds for the weekly item, plus rez and ops packs as needed.

I could see there being an argument for keeping it. Say you don't want to risk getting negative traits on your good teams on mission with 55% missions. If you toss your mixed team into those you will have less chance to succeed (38%?), but you'll also risk nothing.

I've barely touched the SP so those crates I get for a successful mission are helping out. Also, I would miss out on 5 MF. Not that critical but, maybe once i finish the campaign I won't care about the crates.

I've just been throwing my bad team(5 good traits 4 bad traits) at gold missions over and over with a 50% chance of success. I have two good teams with 5 good traits and 1 bad trait that I use for bronze/silver(almost always 90-94% chance for success in silver/gold and 70%+ in Gold if my suicide team hasn't completed the golds yet). I have more mission funds than I know what to do with since equipment seems to be not worth it all. I usually finish all the missions via phone if I remember to check it periodically some days I forget or I'm busy.
I don't see much point in retiring a team. You can always just spam the crappy team at a mission while your others do other missions and if the gold mission your crappy team is trying is near the deadline let one of your good teams try.

Two of my 3 teams are below 50% success rate when it comes to gold now so I'm looking into working on a new team. I utilize the app periodically.

Well by the time your new team has leveled up and collected enough positive traits the crappy one oughta have earned at least 40 mission funds to pay for the added cost even with a poor success%. I'd just keep the teams at worst you end up using them on bronze/silver while your newer good teams are used for gold. Maybe cutting your losses and dumping bad teams so you can work on grooming teams for platinum would be better if you're thinking long term tho.

So I sent my new team on 2 bronze missions with a success rate of 78%. Failed both times. Worse part is, they didn't even make a dent in ranking up. Still in level 1 ![:banghead:](//storage.proboards.com/6576594/images/ahSwvSYySULJ0LMyGLJF.gif) I'm sending them on gold runs just to rank them. BTW, is there a consistent count on how many success/fail runs it takes to get a positive/negative trait?

It appears that positive traits trigger at levels 5,10,15, and 20, with some teams getting one to start with. Negative traits happen when a mission has a critical failure, which is much more likely, it seems, when you put a weak team on a hard mission. Some people have also reported getting a negative trait on a successful mission.

FWIW, I think that if you manage to pick up a negative trait at the same time that you level up to 5/10/15/20, it overrides gaining a positive. I've seen two teams now end up a trait short, and I'm mostly sure that's what happened. So if you're nearing one of the levels for a new positive trait, probs best to send them on very safe missions.

I picked up a negative trait the other day on my "best" team with Exceptional Human Intel that was already at rank 20 for a week. Don't really even know what counts as a critical failure, I think their preop chance was 66.
edit: Just logged in and they grabbed "Timid" with another failure. Game is trolling hard now.

Considering that teams only get 4 positive traits on level-ups, but negative traits are AFAIK unlimited and can happen to any team, wouldn't that mean that, statistically speaking, all teams will eventually end up unusable? As getting a negative trait lowers the chances of mission success and so invites more negative traits to appear?

As getting a negative trait lowers the chances of mission success and so invites more negative traits to appear? Yes, but not necessarily unusable. A level 20 team will always have a ~90 success rate on bronze/silver missions regardless of the negative traits. That's roughly 2/3rds of the missions. A set of level 20 teams with smart gear/trait combinations will probably have good +60% options available regardless of the negative traits. For example, I'd highly recommend putting Nightvision (+40) on a team with the Nighttime operator trait. Even when they inevitably get the Night Blindness (-10) trait, they will still be a strong candidate for a subset of gold missions. If each strike team is optimized for a different circumstance, they you should be all set for most missions. The new lower price, higher bonus for gear makes this a reasonable tactic. Not sure if it's the optimal tactic but it's close enough -- especially when optimizing strike team performance may be meaningless in the long run due to the limited benefits of mission funds.

So maxed out the amount of strike teams I can have. 2 of my new strike teams failed a mission yet gained a positive trait while another team succeeded in a mission and got a negative trait I'm done trying to figure out a method. Just gonna euip each team with +20 effectiveness and rake in the MF.

So maxed out the amount of strike teams I can have. 2 of my new strike teams failed a mission yet gained a positive trait while another team succeeded in a mission and got a negative trait I'm done trying to figure out a method. Just gonna euip each team with +20 effectiveness and rake in the MF. That's what I've done. I have 4 teams at level 20 with the generic +20 gear, and two more gearless teams at around levels 12 and 14. Once they're all up at level 20 with +20 gear, I'll just use the less effective teams on Silver and Bronze missions, probably be ages before any of them get terrible enough to need to retire.
