The more I play the game, the more I realize how much a missed opportunity Aya really is. The city itself is an awesome HUB world, but considering we fast travel to the vault via shuttle, I wish we would have had a Havarl Size open map to travel to the vault. This could have allowed for us to gather quests from Anagara throughout the city to give the player reasons to explore that map.
It would have also been an awesome combination of rain forests, waterfalls, and volcanos and fire vortexes. All of which are already in-game assets. Some of the best open world gameplay is also (IMO) on Havarl because there is something constantly happening. (I still want a dlc map that does a hybrid of Havarl and Elaadin where the map is huge enough for the Nomad but has dense areas to force us out of the Nomad)
Just a thought, but I think it was a missed, easy opportunity. I know the game is large already, but I'm hoping for some kind of DLC that involves this beautiful yet harsh planet.

Or a cutscene of flying/driving to the Vault.
I don't know. I feel like the small windows ME2 gave on places like Omega, Illium, the Migrant Fleet, Citadel, etc (including the recruitment and loyalty missions there) made it more alive than worlds with big maps in ME:A.

Not every map needs to be a open world(ish) one, so I, like Fogg, would have settled for a cutscene showing us a bit of the trip to the Vault, which could've been used both to show us a bit more of what Aya's like beyond the city, and to have a little talk with the Moshae, there's never enough talking to NPCs in this kind of games. I liked Aya for what it was, but details like these add a lot to the experience.

Not bothered either way TBH. It was a pretty decent hub, as was the Nexus. A cutscene to the vault would probably have been a good idea but I'm not overly convinced that it needed a full open world map.

I will say, I was disappointed after the initial good impression of AYA that they didn't link this or Kadara to a larger area. When I saw Kadara spaceport in the TGA footage I thought it looked nice but I expected it to be part of a bigger map where the hub would be in the center or something. Apparently there's some technical limitation to seperating the squad from the player seamlessly. So much for this game being free of last gen hardware, huh.

I think a Havarl size map would have been a good fit though for side quests and exploration. I still hate that peebee's mission is one of my favorite venues but you can only go there once for 20 minutes out of a 100 hour playthrough. Same goes for a cutscene. It's over in less than a minute. Aya had some of the coolest planet features

Comes with being EA-owned. I can really feel the Maxis/Criterion-effect on this company at this point. I wasn't too pessimistic when Greg and Ray left and at first I thought DA:I was going to be a sign of improvement after the disappointing lack of RPG elements in ME3 but here we are. Their games just seem to be getting broader but thinner.

I would have liked that, I enjoy rolling through Aya.

I don't know, having a city to investigate vs. a whole zone was a nice change of pace. I'll admit, though, I wouldn't have minded another planet or two to investigate.
