Look I'm one of the biggest Bioware fans, loved pretty much everything they've ever put out especially ME1-3 up until the ending of 3. This being said, ME:A is one of the worst AAA followups I've ever seen. It's as if they fired everyone that worked on the original ME trilogy and brought in a whole new staff from writers to animators and I can't help but make my first post here a list of how ME:A has completely failed and how it could have been FAR better. Most of these things have been heard before but I just have to say them myself as a loyal Bioware fan.
TL:DR Terrible animations, terrible writing, ME became Assassin's Creed in the sense of repetitiveness.
So the worst thing in my eyes is the animations. You see utterly TERRIBLE animations right from the very start of the game, the insane chicken wing arms, horrible clipping or simply broken angles on idle animations, etc. I can't even blame just the animators for it because countless others would have obviously seen in all and obviously no one cared. I've not seen better animations out of indie games. Not to mention the team that did DA:I with frostbite did an excellent job with their animations. So what is the excuse of the ME:A studio?

After that when you get started in the the story and writing... ugh, it's pathetic. Plot holes left and right, yet again right from the very beginning. Nor are these small holes, like the fact that it's very widely and openly known that an AI was made for the Arks when AI development is in fact illegal across Citadel space, WTF?! The Pathfinder is written so pathetically. They picked the right voice actor for the male Ryder because he did remind me EXACTLY like the lifeless Desmond from Assassin's Creed, not the actors fault, it was the writing in both cases. You rarely get any more than 2 responses to ANYTHING and regardless of which ones you pick you always sound like a paragon style character, boring.
Then there is the fact it doesn't feel like a colonization effort at all. A dry planet with high radiation, an ice planet, a normal planet just with contaminated water. You have to supposedly struggle to survive these? You built a space station to rival the Citadel and sent it across galaxies, I'm sure they have filters for water, heaters (especially since space is colder than the planet), etc. What would have made the colonization aspect FAR more interesting is instead of just running around doing all the quests and getting 100% viability on all planets you had to make choices that impacted the viability and because of that it would be possible to make it not possible to get 100% viability depending on those choices. Instead the choices are pathetic. Hell picking who runs Kadara and how is decided by quick action with the most minimal interaction between the two factions beforehand.
Oh yeah, lets not forget the the scripting, utterly pathetic when major large fights like the Eos Kett base are as broken as they have been. I've also had Architects never open their armor and just continue spawning adds for literally 5 minutes at a time and it happen MANY times as I was trying to beat the first one on Eos (I'm playing the highest difficulty so died a number of times). These faults are so significant there is no way they couldn't have been caught in testing if they did it properly. But I believe they simply didn't want to delay the game.
Bioware I except FAR more from you, I've loved all the DA's, the original ME's and all the games in the past. But you started down a terrible path with ME3's ending and ME:A shows it was not just a one time mistake. Having always been a Bioware fan and loving the games I'm going to say I think the RPG leader these days is CD Projekt Red, it is no longer Bioware. Step up your game and take the crown back.
