I get a strange feeling she might end up being a bit like Rana Thanoptis, each time you meet her, she is doing some stupid research and is in your way. I wouldn't be surprised if she turned up in the next game "researching" something equally horrible. I'm expecting it actually.

In my canon play through I stopped it, that's my gut feeling. Jaal does seem to lean towards one option more than the other though, if you let her continue he says "This feels...wrong." I felt so bad lol.

Apart from the ethical aspects, did nobody find it strange that they speculated the Yevara might be Remnant, meaning machines, because they are able survive under the ice without oxygen and food? The Angaran scientist has caught and conducted research on a lot of them, she should have noticed by now if they are organic or not. But no word on that, just a forced decision between medical benefits against animal protection. In addition to this imho a bit jarring ending the game delivers some background information that the Yevara are supposed to be somehow connected to the planet's weather conditions ("bring out the sun" or something along these lines). Just speculation, but it seems to me the quest was originally planned out to take a very different course, likely something related to restoring Voeld's climate, but was cut short. They didn't want the entire material go to waste and made up a different ending, so they could keep most of it in the game. Add some ethical questions for flavor and we got what it is now.

This decision just reminded me so hard of The Snow Queen/Summer Queen novels by Joan D. Vinge, although in those books, they were killing sentient dolphin-like creatures as an ingredient for their longevity serum (which actually now is reminding me of that movie, Jupiter Ascendant? Rising? you know the one I mean)
Anyway, I stop the research, for all the reasons already mentioned. It seems like she should have enough samples collected already, and I'm sure there are plenty of angara who wouldn't any treatment that came from slaughtered yevara, just as their humans who don't like to have their shampoo tested on rabbit and puppy eyeballs.

I stopped the scientist. But if my Ryder knew then what I knew by the end of the game, I would have burst the Angara's bubbles and just told the scientist to continue

I would NEVER murder the beautiful singing whales and would defend them with my Ryder's life.

I honestly didn't put much thought into this since I see it as an Angaran issue and not something I should be focusing on. I mean I only have like 100k people counting on me to find them a home. Since it is an Angaran who is conducting the experiments and Jaal is to much of a coward to step up then I have no problem if she continues her work.

I skip this quest. Honestly, it's the job of the angara on Voeld to handle.
