..but several significant persistent issues are flat-out killing this game for me.
I'd only experienced a handful of disconnects between myself and the group I've been playing with before the last couple of nights. I'd had some latency, but nothing that made the game unplayable.
Had to call it quits this evening a couple of hours earlier than any of us had intended because we couldn't stay connected. We rotated hosts across 3 of us to see if we could make a stable game, but we only completed 2 out of 6-8 games without someone dropping.
Also, previously we had at least occasionally been able to join back into games in progress in private lobbies, but tonight whenever anyone joined back in, nobody got paid at the end of the match (xp still awarded, it seemed). Not just the parties reconnecting - nobody.
I've been extremely patient with and even dismissive of people complaining about various aspects of the game, but between this and the balance issues, I'm about ready to suspend playing until/unless significant changes are made. It's gotten to be a chore. I refuse to just Talon all the things for hundreds more hours in the hope that I'll eventually snag a gem out of the river of shit that is the UR pool.
I saw someone shortly after launch state something to the effect that powers and combos could have their damage doubled and it still might not be too much. Four-ish weeks now after I started on the pre-play, I'd have to say I agree. The lack of viable weapon variety is equally glaring. I remember the degree to which guys like Eric and BroJo interacted with the community back in 2012-13 -- I traded PMs with each a handful of times and found them both pleasant and responsive -- and I remember feeling like even if they whiffed sometimes or mangled a weapon/power, they were fucking trying. I have no idea now who's involved in balancing the game or when we might hear something. I have zero confidence that the balance situation is even under consideration, let alone that meaningful effort is being exerted. Has there been any noteworthy change other than the weird, random buffnerf to the Mattock? Ammo cap for the Hesh? Jesus.
I guess I've been hoping so hard to recapture how much I enjoyed ME3MP for two full years that I resisted acknowledging how disappointed I've been.
Anyway, thanks for attending this therapy session. Happy trolling, BSN. You're pretty much the only thing I'm enjoying about MP at the moment.

I keep playing their multiplayer because it offers a special kind of pain and anguish.
If I wanted to play a complete or balanced game, most def would be playing something else. But there is something special about their blatant disrespect for their fans and products that make me stick around.
That last mod that adds 10% to pistol and assault riffle damage for example. What a fucken joke, I loled but was not surprised at all.
On a side note, I also fly United Airlines 70% of the time.

It seems to me (bearing in mind I haven't played the game) that the interactions and progress made with the team during the ME 3 MP days has been entirely wasted.
If I'm reading the situation right, unlocking guns is the principal path to progress, while powers offer very little offensive value (the defensive powers sound pretty good by comparison.)
What breaks my heart about that is that I doubt it's what the developers would have done based on their experiences with ME 3 MP. I suspect, all things being equal, that they wouldn't have shifted the balance that much. Because doing so doesn't add anything or improve the game (quite the opposite.)
So I'm stuck thinking that management decreed guns had to dwarf powers in effectiveness to ensure as much pack-buying as possible. After all, in ME 3 MP, you could succeed without buying a single pack, and even jump difficulties with new manifests, as long as you know how to make a power-based build that could function on higher difficulties.
From the sounds of things, they pushed as close to "pay to win" as they could while still keeping players who weren't buying packs around in the hope of a balance change to fix things (a change which, honestly, it's hard to imagine is coming.)

Well, you're not alone - I think many feel that not the guns, but the powers made Mass Effect.

I have no idea now who's involved in balancing the game or when we might hear something. Well you can always jump on their stream every Thursday, they do answer questions. Last time I did that and asked about the nerfed powers and guns. I learned powers and guns must be useless now because of the new mobility. Also, they know game is a mess right now but they don't wanna overreact with the fixes. After all it's been only a month from the launch and not all players have left yet.

With more mobility you're more powerful. Therefore guns and powers must be less powerful. We are Bioware.

Funny that you'd mention BroJo. The guy is still pretty responsive on Reddit -- but he's no longer involved in ME, so it's pointless to bug him about this game. Really, the reason why this is going down the drain (and it is, if my FL is any indication) is because the people calling the shots don't really play the game all that much. Nah, just kidding. Nobody really calls the shots. This is their decision making process revealed right here:

That Magic Pirate 8-Ball claims to have "mates." That probably means it's a Reaper. Or a Geth. Or something that's going to probe/kill/conquer us.
