There are several ablities and powers that affect enemies with a "Defense Debuff" status effect, such as Invasion, Munitions Training with Sustained Fire and Offensive Biotics with Exposure. The description text for all these abilities mentions that affected enemies "take more damage from all sources".
However, Annihilation's Damage Attractor evolution doesn't mention Defense Debuff at all, it simply states that "enemies affected take 20% additional damage from all sources".
Everyone here seems to assume that all the effects above function in the same way, i.e. 20% Defense Debuff is exactly the same as Damage Attractor: enemies take +20% damage from all sources. So why the difference in wording? Why doesn't Damage Attractor mention Defense Debuff?
What I'm wondering is that maybe Defense Debuff really just debuffs defenses, i.e. lowers enemy armor damage reduction (does armor even work the same way as in ME3?) and perhaps causes shields to take more damage from all sources. Or something.
On the other hand, Cryo Beam specifically states that it weakens enemy armor, and the status effect is "Defense Debuff vs. Armor", so that seems to indicate that Defense Debuff really is just an increase to all damage taken. But it's still weird that Annihilation uses a very different wording for a similar effect.
Has any/all of this been tested? To be honest, I haven't paid enough attention to these abilities to be able to tell, and I haven't even tried Invasion yet (don't have the Salarian Operator). Does Invasion really cause enemies to take 25%-35% more damage? Do enemies - even non-shielded, non-armored enemies - really take 40% more damage in close proximity to an Asari Adept? Or is this something players simply assume to be the case?

I can say with complete confidence that Invasion works.
My one buddy swears that the Salarian 30% extra damage from elemental attacks works on ammo powers.

I got the feeling Salarian Operator might be one of my favourite kits... now I only need to unlock him 10 times. Apparently ammo powers can get truly powerful then. I mean, Rank 1 ammo increases the already impressive damage provided by most weapons by an immense 2.5% - with 30% extra damage that's 3.25%

I haven't tested this personally though..

Things melt quicker with elemental tech for sure....it can't be 30% more of your 7.5% level three weapon amp in my opinion and I can second invasion definitely works ON THE FIRST TARGET.
How accurate it spreads to other targets is another issue...

I can also confirm that Invasion from multiple Salarians stacks. Myself and Orbino both played the Operator the other night, both with maxed Invasion.. and a gold Fiend melted like hot butter.

How accurate it spreads to other targets is another issue... I also don't know if it's working on a target it has spread to, since I can't tell who it jumps to. Is there an animation? The only way I know if someone was affected, is if they do the little red pop when they get to low health.

Me3 had numerous differences in describing the same effect, and sometimes it flat out lied. I'd be worried if they actually used the same description.

It's pretty subtle but once you know what to look for you can't miss it. If the red pop your talking about is from invasion 6a (causes explosion at 15% health) while it does not do a lot of damage, I have read that enemies caught in the blast also become infected if not already done so.

It's hard to trust what the abilities say sometimes.
I'm still traumatized by an Evo of TacScan in ME3MP that never fucking worked.
