I am trying to decide which weapon mods to use (atm for the havoc trooper but for other classes as well ). All the AP mod does is penetrate cover / walls to get to your target instead of having to wait for them to pop up. So I generally put it on snipers or long range weapons to nail them while they hide. Shorter range stuff it's probably not as needed as you are close enough to flank that cover one way or another.

Sniper rifle receiver doesn't seem to work on like half the rifles, at least in MP. You get the hit reaction, but no damage applied through cover.

Like if enemy armor is high enough to reduce damage from bullets by 50%, the armor penetration will hurt that and lower it to 20% or something so it will feel closer to shooting a red enemy instead?

Nope, they removed that feature. All AP mods do is increase how far you can shoot through cover and how much damage it does on the other side.

Nope, they removed that feature. All AP mods do is increase how far you can shoot through cover and how much damage it does on the other side. To add to this, They probably found that the main mods taken in ME3 was barrel and ap, so to make other mods more viable they got rid of one, in this case the AP one. Most now I find take melee attachment if they are melee or magazine if not. So back to crutch. I see 0 reason to take SR light materials as it is negligible in how much effect it has. So ya, it would make sense that it really should have an effect on armored enemies, and I'm not a fan when games have things completely ignore things it is all about.

I've heard it currently works with black widow. Doesn't work on vanquisher, or raptor. Don't know about valiant, or inferno. Those are like the only sniper rifles that matter anyway.

Fuck me, I got a receiver last night, tried it out on the vanquisher and raptor this morn and was like uhhh... coupled with the loss of built in penetration this is just silly. *it's fucking nothing!*

It's convenient to just be able to shoot enemies through cover, but that doesn't make it the best option.
I use piercing on slow characters who fight at a decent range because waiting for enemies to show themselves is annoying.

It works on the Inferno yes.
Also, surprisingly, the Receiver works on the Dhan.

It shows up as something you can use to equip the Scorpion ... which I assume is a mistake.
Those weapons that can't take advantage of penetration generally don't have it as an equipable option ... e.g. the Venom and Naladeen.
I thought it was a nice upgrade to the mods, not allowing mods to go on weapons that cannot benefit from them, such as a rechargeable SR not allowing for extra spare ammo.
I would not class the Scorpion mod as a bug as much as a mistake. Perhaps in the next patch, they can fix the Receiver and Smart Choke mod bugs, as well as correct mistakes.

I am trying to decide which weapon mods to use (atm for the havoc trooper but for other classes as well ). You don't care about until you're facing a fiend by yourself. Then you really care about it. It's standard mod for me with high RoF weapons for pretty obvious reasons, because you will ducking and dipping with that set of weapons, regardless of faction.
