I'm happy to see this thread reborn here. It's an excellent resource to have on hand. I'm also happy to see you posting here Fogg. Big thumbs up.
It's great to see so many familiar names on board. It's feeling down right homey, already.

And... a bump from me. Very useful thread, should stay on the top imo, thanks a lot ~
Edit : "From this French interview with Yanick Roy, that got translated on Reddit" [*]Note that Yanick said on Twitter that a lot of nuance got lost in the translation and paraphrasing of the interview[/*]
Do you want me to translate the whole interview in english ? I mean beginning to the end, no shortcuts ?

Thanks for this. It's a Coles Notes summary of Bio's marketing / info dump and a great reference material.

In general, you all see I was too lazy to format the copypaste from BSN Prime, perhaps it's better someone makes a good 'confirmed info' post that can be sticky? This is just the E3 stuff. I'll see if I have time before No Man's Sky arrives, because after that I'll be off the radar for months I hope

All of this information is actually making me hopeful... and I don't know if I should be glad or scared that I once again will be fooled into believing in their "talk".

That part about Bioware being depressed that people hated ME3 ending really tugs at the heartstrings, ya? After how they played the EC and more specifically its marketing they get zero sympathy from me. If they had been honest and actually fixed it, then yeah, I'd feel for them. But then I also think most of us would still be there and the state of things would be such nuking might never have crossed their mind. In a better world, right?

"Extended Cut" imo should have extended the cuts. As in, if the scene simply ended with Anderson telling Shep "You did good, kid" and the Citadel explodes, roll credits, that would have been a better ending than all the convoluted silliness that followed. Or instead of Starbrat, have it be Avina. That would have been pretty awesome. Talk about a missed opportunity.

And here I come with the whole translation from Yanick Roy's interview. I hope I haven't done too many english mistakes, excuse me if it's the case. So many things you already know, but I do like his long answers to the first questions. Also he looks like a very friendly person ^^ During E3 2016, we met Yanick ROY Studio Director for BioWare in Montréal.. He answered our questions about the development and the ambitions of MEA.
I'm Yanick ROY, Studio Director for BioWare in Montréal. I was associated to all the ME we've done, it's my 4th !
Will we still have quests with multiple choices / answers for MEA ? We want to respect the traditional ME formula, like what we did for the 3 first games, it's part of the "ME/BioWare recipe" to allow the players to live the game the way they want. This is the spirit of freedom we want to keep, like what we had on the 3 1st games, but also extand it.
Aren't you scared to lose a part of the public by giving up on Shepard ? It's a new story, Shepard's story ended and we don't want to extand it. But we wanted to be sure to keep all the things fans liked on the 3 1st games : the relationships with all the different characters, the species, the powers, the energic way fights are done etc... We had to carry all of this with us to Andromeda and recreate this experience with a new eye and with new characters. The story of Shepard was to be a hero and to become a legend and there were some problems because of that: Shepard knew the univers from the start and the players didn't. With MEA, the players can discover everything in the same time than their new character and have a real influence on his personality. About the trilogy : each time we speak with fans, they don't talk about "Shepard", they talk about "THEIR Shepard", they really took ownership of the character. This is the ME recipe we really want to give to the players : it's their character, their ship, their game.
Can you tell us more about the companions ? Will we have, like the previous episodes, loyalty missions ? Absolutely. The relationships with all the characters, as I said earlier, is a big part of the essence of ME. Players often talk about the quality of the story but what they describe the most are the relationships they had with this or that character (the one they felt in love with, etc...). If there's one element we wanted to take with us, it was this one : discovering new characters and bringing them with us, so yes, be prepared to see them [the loyalty missions] on MEA.
Will we have a MP mode? Can you tell more about it ? We took the inspiration on ME3 MP but the gameplay, fights and specializations have evolved. The additional elements we want to bring in combat [form the single player] can also be transposed on the MP. So the inspiration is ME3 with evolutions (more energetic) and with Frosbite we want to bring some freedom and chaos.
Will we be able to customize our ship ? Once again and without too much details, this element, like on ME3 with the aquarium or the ships models on Shepard's cabin is important. The player has to be able to have his own environment. This is part of our criteria.
Do you know how many planets the final version of the game will have ? It's the most huge game we're working on and we took the inspiration from ME1 and we can also name star Wars.. yes, it's more that kind of inspiration.
What about the strategic and diplomatic aspect with the other species of the galaxy ? The kind of things that will help you to deal with conflicts are the ones you already know from the trilogy, conversations, fights etc... but we added the exploration, the freedom and also the order you do things matter on the story.
We saw a female human in the trailer, will we be able to pick the specie and gender of our character ? ME was always about humanity in the galaxy. It will be at the center of MEA. To have more defined characters make it possible to have more sophisticated story ... but we still have the freedom in mind so.... I won't enter into details but we are trying to give you a little more [ note: his answer is weird and hard to translate, it's kind of a "yes it's about humanity", but look like there's more ... maybe just about the CC, anyway he can't tell more about it]
What will be our role in the galaxy ? soldier ? archeologist ? explorers ? The role is huge, we want a more versatile character : if you're a pure explorer, you don't know what kind of dangers you will find so you can't defend yourself... but if your character is a pure soldier, it's a bit weird for people who want to find a new home for humanity and for the species that are coming with you. The main character must have more than one string to his bow.
Will we have more infos about the protheans ? As I said earlier, we want to have a good balance : reward the old fans with a certain kind of informations but not to flood the new players with missing informations.

Nice Scarlet!
I want to address that bit about the colonists having a choice, I took this to mean that none of the people on this Ark were chosen at random. Presumably they were approached discretely and offered a chance at a fresh start, adventure, discovery, etc. probably took families too.
I'm assuming a pre-reaper invasion departure.

My personal preference is an ARk departure just before the Reapers cut communications from the Moon.

Yeah, the whole people went to Andromeda for different reasons implies that it is before ME3 starts, maybe the Arks are launched before the first game! It would mean the devs would not have to worry about importing choices.

And here I come with the whole translation from Yanick Roy's interview. Snip <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>> Good job! A "couple" of things: 1. Roy mentioned they added the exploration feature with "l'esprit" (with the idea) of giving the player more freedom. Yet, later on, he mentions that when you add to the game the exploration element and some freedom that goes with it ("un peu") plus the order you do things, will influence the game story. Interesting is the tidbit about your choice sequences, but I find his use of freedom a bit confusing and contradictory. What do you think? 2. In the MP question, Roy mentions a more dynamic and chaotic combat mechanic that adds to the player experience. Sounds interesting, Maybe some random environmental elements like dust or whirlwinds are thrown in during combat? 3. On the number of planet question, Roy deflected but basically said there are different planetary conditions as you find in the Star Wars movies. So, I expect to see an ocean, forest, desert, icy, rocky... etc planets. The first ME:A video gave us a clue as to the planet types. Question: How many planets will there actually be? 4. Roy's answer to the female protagonist gave an indirect confirmation of other races from the MW coming to Andromeda with us. Interesting, though, is that the Ryder character needs to be more "general purpose" rather than a specialist class. I suppose it's because Ryder must explore, fight and interact with the Helius races. Question: Will our Ryder have multi-class leveling options?

I suppose it's because Ryder must explore, fight and interact with the Helius races. Question: Will our Ryder have multi-class leveling options? Thanks ~ (Are you french btw ? because you seems to know french, I already told me that on the old BSN) so about your questions : He uses the word "freedom" very often, yes, and for many things : players' choices, the main character, the exploration, the way we will play the story, the ship etc ... For the story itself, I just thing the order you will pick your missions will have an influence. Like you have 2 important missions to do in the same time and that will have consequences, which one will you do first ? Who will you help ? the option left behind will bring various bad (or good ?) consequences in the main plot or with certain relationships. This is how I understand the answer. And about the freedom in general, I think they really want to let us play the game the way we want as much as possible. More choices for the dialogs, characters, story, customization ... which is a very good point IMO About the MP, maybe, yes, but again he didn't give specific details. I think we will also be able to destroy things on the background but he never confirm this statement, it's just my feelings. The number of planets, well it's "huge", he said that a couple of time (and other interviews from BW staff told us the exact same thing) but no precise number. yes obviously, the other MW species are coming with us and you certainly saw that the Krogan, Asari and salarians are already confirmed in the E3-2016 trailer. Multiclass options, good idea, maybe, but not sure how it will work. Well, we have to wait for more infos.
