The situation: Objective Wave, Assassination. Three targets are down. You pull out your trusty Hypothetical Situation Gun and blast the fourth target dead.
The question: Upon the death of the fourth target, which of the following happens?
1 - The fourth target dies and seven enemies remain to be eliminated. or 2 - The fourth target dies and is respawned, and eight enemies remain to be eliminated.
I think it's 2, but I admit I've never payed close enough attention to know for sure.

W3 Gold Cerberus target is Atlas. On rare occasion I decide to not missile the ever loving shit out of them and decide to kill all four Atlases by regular means, we always get a fifth one after the fourth one is killed.
So, empirical data suggest option number two.

Now what happens if it's a rocket that takes out 7 other guys along with the target! >8)
I'm kidding, I know they'd respawn all 8... I'm pretty sure.

re: OP, it's option 2.
Enemies keep respawning for several seconds after the objective has been completed, up until the "Success..." title is displayed, perhaps bit further. The fsilsafe rule for wave-cleanup-nuking is to wait until the credits are shown.
