Hai Guyz,
I completed my first run on Hardcore. I had a "sentinel" build(biotics and tech, backlash, singularity, energy drain, incinerate). I'd oftentimes kill several enemies at once simply by holding up my Aegis until they killed themselves. You'd think that the Annointed would stop shooting or aim somewhere else rather than kill themselves. Anyway, I really love backlash, and thought that it needed it's own thread.
On a semi-related note, I am trying to do my second run on a gun-heavy infiltrator/Soldier, who uses consumables(Barrier and land mines) in places of powers. So far it isn't going so well. It is hard to get the enemies to walk over your mines.

Get rid of mines and use omni grenades, a lot better. With a full kett setup they are more reliable and extremely useful at killing stuff.

No I don't think it is really.
As for the mines, the only times I actually placed them before someone arrived was when dropships would swoop in and I basically knew where a group would land. Otherwise I would just launch them at an enemy's feet, especially if I knew they wouldn't be moving.
If there wasn't an achievement for the mines, I might not have really used them, but I thought they were ok and gave me a way to prime targets without ammo consumables. But I almost would rather just spend power cells on Concussive Shot now so they could be ripple fired.

Omni grenades with a full soldier setup and Kett equipment are a thing of beauty. They hit as hard as a maxxed out Dhan in a aoe. Flak is still unreliable but it is usable if specced for stunning. I still prefer running with Thokin/Soned, Naladen and Kett armor with Turbocharge, Omni grenades and Barricade. This equals 6 grenades and 5 barricades couple that with now 4 fuel cell refills per ammo box and it is workable so far.

I mostly chose the mines so that I can carry big weapons and not be hindered by delayed recovery times. Although I am thinking I might respec for the grenades.

On the bright side, eventually you have enough points to get both if you want, along with a lot of other things. The bad news is that by that point enemies have a ton of HP.

Right now I am doing combat/tech. I don't like having more than 4 powers especially since I can only equip 3 at a time. MInes are good for fighting animals since they more predictable, but I usually don't like wasting consumables on them. Fighting Annointed are a lot less fun without backlash though.

Grenade solves everything, well everything except architects. Those misty buggers are the best, follow dracks advice and use em for grenade practice.
