Manual Save Limit?

I've finished the game and my save folder has 102 of them (only counting manual saves). I don't think there's any limit.

I was hoping I'd be able to save my entire playthrough without having to overwrite, and 500 should be more than enough to do that.

And this is an important bug to note. As lexxxich says, there won't be any indication that you've hit the limit and it'll happily let you continue to create "new saves" without actually generating them.

Are we talking about 500 manual saves total, or per character profile?

I'm on PC and they're all in the same folder.

What I've been doing, after each play session, is copy/pasting the entire Save folder onto my external harddrive.  Basically, making consecutive backups of my game/char every time I log out.  When I'm done with this playthrough, I'll just delete everything from the (official) Save folder (except the "ProfOpts" files), and I'll have an "empty" Save folder for my next playthrough.

If you just play one char at a time, this should be a good way to avoid hitting that 500 mark.  However, if you like to jump back and forth between multiple chars (and are an OCD saver like I am), I guess you'd have to be very careful with how many saves you make...

Yeah, if you don't mind overwriting your saves, it would be a non-issue. 

But some people (like me) might like to have a "complete" save of their character's entire playthrough (with no overwrtites).

I didn't have a problem with HDD space they use, so hit "new save" every time I wanted to save quickly. Which is about every time I got a quest-related interaction, finished a hard overworld battle or found new forward station. Got to over 500 around the middle of clearing out Kadara.
Notably, my current 400+ saves I rewrite from the oldest to newest occupy less then 1 Gb of disk space, which is more efficient than, say, Skyrim.
