Just to play devil's advocate for a moment. ME:A was already delayed once, how long did the developer's need. Also, just from an accounting perspective they really didn't have a choice. You get to make one budget a year, no changes allowed once it's submitted. They had the launch of ME:A in last years budget with I assume ended 3/31/2017. They delayed the 3rd quarter release, and pushed it back as far as they could to still get the launch week sales into the fiscal year. There was no way they were going to push into the next fiscal year, seeing that they had probably already made the budget for this year, and didn't include the launch. You can't compare pushing back a DLC in the same fiscal year to pushing the release of a game across fiscal years. Yeah, I was upset the game got released in the state it was in. Maybe the initial deadline didn't line up with where they were at the time, who knows. But they're a public company and they have responsibilities. It's still a horrible decision. So what if the numbers didn't come in at 3/31, the media shitstorm would've never happened. That alone may have put off more fans coming into the series than fans already invested. The financial impact may be minimal, but the impact on Bioware's reputation is bad. Just plain bad. You harm your own product and producers by not allowing that time. You can punish individuals and teams later, but as a whole, you look terrible and the stigma is hard to lose. However, you're right. If the shareholders want their money, they want their money. If investors expect a return, they better get it or you risk losing them.

If investors expect a return, they better get it or you risk losing them. It depends though. There was a bigger backlash than this over the ME:3 ending, but then they put out the extended cut DLC for free, and released some quality DLC like Leviathan. After the Citadel DLC most of the bad blood was gone, and ME:3 is probably Bioware's best selling game ever. I bet the got a lot of pre-orders for ME:A as well. They have time to repair the relationship as far as ME:A is concerned, just like ME:3. However, if they issue a press release saying they didn't make earnings because a couple hundred million dollars from ME:A isn't there, that loss of money/value will be immediate. They expected to sell three million copies of ME:A in the first few days, and have 30-50% of the lifetime sales during that time. They placed some lofty expectation on this one.

It also reinforces never to preorder again unless you're into troubleshooting or have enough "intestinal fortitude" to look past it. Me, I demand Bioware's brilliance in full splendor. I'll wait two years before I buy the complete product. EA, Enthusiasm Annihilated.

Today, Resident Evil 7 players with an account got an email regarding the upcoming Free story DLC that was supposed to come out soon. Read and learn EA/Ware. Remember that statement back in 2016 back from EA saying that if the studio needed more time, they would delay the game for them? Whatever was that about? Capcom seems to have the same mentality but they put their words into action. Classy and Capcom in the same sentence? Better be a damn oxymoron. There's a reason why these dlc exploiting shitbags are called Crapcom by most of the fighting game community and some of their own fanbase. As bad as MEA has started and as cool as this is to read, it's not going to excuse years of bullshit and alienation.
