I'm definitely holding fire on getting super excited until we see the notes.

Not in a 'oh it might be pointless stuff' way, but if the first patch is indeed just bugfixing and balance changes - as it probably should be, to be honest - then it's not reeeeally as exciting and interesting as the CC updates and other visual improvements.

Still, as impatient as I am for the aesthetic updates, it's got to be more important to get the game running and playing properly first, so hats off to the devs either way.

because it seems entirely possible that this bug undermines whatever patching and testing they did for this one- i.e. if they're tweaking and testing things on the assumption that the values are set by MP difficulty only... hopefully I'm wrong, and them NOT delaying the patch is probably a good sign

They did say during the MP livestream last Friday that they'd identified the source of the combo damage not being correct in MP matches - surely if that's one of the things caused by SP difficulty, they are indeed aware of it?

It's hard to say not knowing the code (and not being exactly an experienced programmer myself), but if this particular problem is only caused by the code getting the wrong input values, ot might be relatively easy to solve without creating new issues. Many ifs and mights though.

Undead Labs is another GREAT (near perfect) example on how to run a forum. I had one problem, the same day, via instant message on the forums, a quick fix was given to me until a patch came out. Sometimes, they can't fix a problem right away, but when you log an issue with all the accompanying data (crash file, DX diag, etc.) they will let you know that a developer is working on it. Bioware, prior to EA, was like this. Black Isle was even better. EA, Enthusiasm Annihilated.

It would be fun to have those notes, now. It's less than a 13 hours wait, at this point, so no huge deal. Based upon a conversation with Ian a few weeks ago, I'm hoping for noticeable changes in equipment and crafting. If it's not in this patch, it should be in the next. I'd love to have the changes tomorrow, obviously. I realize intentions are not reality, but it seems the intention is to clean up augmentations, improve functional clarity and add some of the augmentations that didn't make it into the initial release. I hope all of those things prove feasible.

I'd also love to see the X5 Ghost, but that could be something for further down the road.

This. I'm finally begrudgingly doing a Sara play through while I wait for CC and Scott Romance updates, but I'm not so far in I wouldn't restart Sara if the CC is included.
