Unfortunately, artists are more concerned with aesthetics than functionality.
The mecha helmet reminds me of a dog and the eye sockets are too far apart. However, there is the possibility that the helmet's internal HUD shows a 160° view. Also, look at the mecha talking to the chick in the hub. You try standing with bent knees for any length of time and tell me how comfortable it is.
The Fort Tarsis' defense is a huge stone wall (reminds me of the movie The Great Wall), cobblestones, hanging cables, stone structures, curtains for doors, a bazaar and mecha. I'd be interested in reading the infrastructure supporting this mess. Where are the power sources? And, upgrading/repairing the mechs only takes someone with a blow torch no computer diagnostic equipment to be seen. Some hybrid punk theme?
Yeah, I guess we'll have to wait and see what the story behind the game is to find out how much of it makes sense. Though in the suit's case, I imagine that can be mitigated by how you are supported inside it (as it is a rigid suit), and where the weight distribution falls.

Snip There are a variety of settings that contribute to MS, and, hopefully, they will all be put in Anthem in the adjustable interface profile, so you don't have to mess the game files to play the game. -(_ANTHEM_)-
LOL! Forgive me for laughing. I've yet to see Bio concerned about gamers' needs in the CC or the gamers' reactions to "gorilla" walking / standing cinematics. Mother Giselle in DA:I anyone?
Remember Bio's 1st rule? ....."What's in it for me?". How Edmonton shafted (from Kotaku's article) Montreal sure seems to confirm this.
Huh? Bio actually puts most of the MS triggers in the options, unlike Betshada who has pretty much none of them, and Bio games by default are considered non MS. So, tbh, Bio is stellar in that respect, while Betshada just seems to not care a fig. i am actually heartbroken about Montreal, because imo they produced a superior project to Edmonton's Inquisition, but that's another story.

Also, look at the mecha talking to the chick in the hub. You try standing with bent knees for any length of time and tell me how comfortable it is. I... okay, sorry, but this is just too amusing (and that's aside form the whole - 'hey, they have a more advanced tech than we do'). That argument would only make sense if Freelancers only had weird shoes to stand in - as it happens, they don't. There's likely no additional strain on the knees, because the WHOLE of the suit provides support for the body. All that rubbery padding we see inside of the suit is there for a reason. Freelancers are not carrying the suits like it's a cumbersome piece of medieval armor - they're carried inside of them. I mean.. that's like saying "you try squatting for any length of time and tell me how comfortable it is", while completely ignoring that we're sitting in a comfy armchair. Aside from the devs already stating that the setting is more science fantasy than science fiction, hence there's less focus on how believably something there works... we didn't even see the whole of the wall or fort and we know amazingly little about their construction, so why are you acting as if you've seen everything and decided that none of it makes sense? Do you have some ways to sneak into Bioware and spy on their work? ...Can I join?

LOL, So, the suit controls bipedal action and the Freelancer is inside just for the ride? Fantasy magic explains it then.
I grant you that we know very little. Also, I don't expect to read explanations on how things work, 'cause the focus is running and shooting. But, hey, that's why we are here.. to explain the unfathomable .... or question it.

Shawn Kassian @shawnkassian www.artstation.com/p/wwDP9 pbs.twimg.com/media/DCvV3DWXUAA8xj0.jpgANTHEM E3 Demo work
These are screenshots from the E3 demo which we released just showcasing some of the work I did! First off, I need to give credit where credit is due! Concept artist who helped me work on the architectural elements for the ruins was Steve Klit www.artstation.com/artist/steveklit And the concept artist who concepted the 4 legged machine was Alex Figini www.artstation.com/artist/alexfiginiI would also like to give a huge thanks to Patrik Karlsson who helped figure out the mechanics of how the machine would move. www.artstation.com/artist/polygonemperorIt is also super important to note that this was a huge undertaking from a very talented group of artists who all worked really hard to get done what we needed to present a killer demo. Overall, the main amount of work I did was building Ruin Tilesets and this vehicle. All the other work was building tileable terrain textures, a few foliage assets and a bunch of other various props.

With all due respect to the artists, that four legged machine with no name, looks awfully like an AT-AT, walks like one but with a different canopy. Nothing original there. Mechanical leg movements is also the same. Fort Tarsis is located on a mountain peak overlooking a forest / jungle like valley. I'd like to see how this super slow defenseless looking mech gets down to the forest floor plus its usefulness in anything... 'cause really, those inside the canopy ain't coming out. That mecha has a please shoot at me sign all over it.

Fantasy magic? We are already experimenting with such technology today, and it's been present in science fiction since forever. Thinking of exo-suits (which are much bigger and certainly much heavier than human operator) as medieval suits of armor to be carried as one, and expecting to give people super-power just by wearing them... now that's fantasy magic.

It doesn't walk like an AT-AT. It has bent legs, not straight ones like an AT-AT. It also has "claws" for feet.

Hmpf...minor design deviations from the AT-AT which:
1.- Avoids possible copyright infringement notices from the Star Wars franchise and is.... 2.- Irrelevant in the grand scheme of things since both have turtle speeds.
Btw, can you come up with a reasonable explanation of what a AT-AT like walker is doing in a dense jungle? ... 'cause, you know, its view of the outside world is limited due to foliage, trees, ravines... etc. As a possible tank, that design is ludicrous as the legs, especially the knee joints, are its most weakest points.
Bet you a donut that no Freelancer will jump into one.

Really? You are comparing a bipedal super giant combat suit taller than NY sky scrapers to a slow quadruped machine no taller than 2- story buildings.

You're assuming it's piloted.

You're assuming it's piloted. It likely is. That "giraffe" downed in the jungle? It was part of Praxley's mission, so there must've been his people inside. We hear them calling for help via radio. And a piloted machine of such kind in a dense jungle actually makes sense - way more sense than anything on wheels. The terrain is steep and full of tricky corners, ravines, loose earth, etc. Even a tank or exploration vehicle would eventually get stuck. Higher elevation means that pilots will see more than vehicles we're used to drive, and "knee" joints are less vulnerable to being damaged or getting stuck than chassis and wheels. And if anyone mentions the existence of jetpacks and then possibility of flying vehicles - we don't know if those exist, or whether technology that manages to lift a single person in a relatively small suit is applicable to lifting heavy cargo.

The Praxley's mission quest marker doesn't point toward it though...the "player" though it was related to it though.

I'd say that it was surely part of Praxley's mission.

Considering Praxley's mission says "rescue workers", that the Scar Ambush which had its own icon which wasn't a quest one and the quest marker associated the Praxley mission pointed elsewhere at the start of the demo...I don't think it was.
