I would too... Though my favorite thing about that show was the Dark Tournament arc, and I wouldn't say no to something like that regardless of genre.

My original hope was for steampunk, but that seems less likely now. I'm placing my bet on urban fantasy. Superhero setting gets second place. I kinda like cyberpunk, but only when it avoids paper thin allegories to contemporary problems. I go with what Tolkien said about such things.

The option I can think of, given what we've seen, is some sort of post apocalyptic setting, which I dread unless it has a significant original twist.

In all seriousness, I'm optimistic enough that I don't think they would have said that if they were weren't planning to reveal anything before the end of the year.

I figure they'll either wait a few weeks after N7 day or drop a teaser in October (Before going completely silent until E3)

Yeah, that feels like a good guess.

I figure, if we get anything this year, it'll be another behind-the-scenes look at the New IP. And if they do show something this year, I wonder if they'll reveal it's name... or will they hold off for a splashier event next year.

I believe the official announcement will be made after Mass Effect: Andromeda launch plus 3-4 months.
The focus right now is on ME:A, as it should be. Once launched, the focus is on game bug fixes (see DA:I).
Once the game is "stable", the announcement will be made about the new IP.

For example;
Dragon Age: Inquisition launch.............. = Dec 2013
Mass Effect: Andromeda announcement = June 2014 -- launch scheduled for holiday 2016 = 1.5 years

At this point,  the focus is on ME:A.

Next sequence:
Mass Effect: Andromeda launch........... = Mar 2017
New IP announcement.......................... = June - July 2017 -- launch schedule for  2018 = 1 year*

and so on...

*NB: the new IP could be launched holiday 2017. Bio beavers have been working on this for some time.




 

 

I'm actually thinking not.  BioWare has been heavily influenced by the FO4 style of, "Hey, there's a new game coming" and three months later it's on the shelves.  So, I'm thinking that by the time that ME hits, they're gonna announce and have it hit the shelves approximately three months later.  Mass Effect had already (kind'a) screwed the pooch with this, by telling everybody a few back that they were working on the game.

Aye - they did this throughout the DLC cycle for Inquisition: "Oh yeah, new DLC? available tomorrow" I think if they had not already "screwed the pooch" (lol) with ME:A they would have done the same thing with it, only allowing enough time for a small pre-order window.

Is there a summary of info about the new IP?
