Alistair McNally @al_McNally I find it fitting that my 2000th tweet is about #NationalVideoGamesDay Being able to do something everyday that you love is the dream.
So I am a bit late to this party....where did that spoilery-image come from?
And what does the community make of it?
This image...? This was on a wall in BioWare Austin
As far as speculation goes...
- The state of the equipment along with the style of their clothes is giving me a slight post-apocalyptic vibe. - They all seem to have googles, hoods and scarves - harsh environment? Scavengers? People trying to maintain this old facility? - Light clothes - someplace warm? The one in the baggy trousers makes me think this facility is in the desert somewhere. Which would match up to the feel of the E3 video environment. - Contemporary looking technology - Near future? There's what looks like a possible turbine generator and I see a modern-day step ladder in the background. The run-down state has again has a similar feel to the solar-paneled trailer in the E3 video.

So the speculation is a sort of Mad Max/Fallout mash up with BioWare style and writing?
Interesting...although if BioWare is turning into EA's answer to Bethesda, they need to be careful in how they create their world...
It could also just be Star Wars though.

Other speculation includes urban fantasy or some cyberpunk variant, something else contemporary. Hard to say. I hope the rest of the game is less gray though.

Yeah, I still think the machinery is very similar to a steam boiler. Which is steampunk or contemporary. The clothes are probably because boiler rooms are hot. Or it's an excavation of sorts.
Mark Darrah recently asked on Twitter about good steampunk novels. Might be just for personal fun, might be research. If it's research I would think it's too late in the secret IP development, so it might not be steampunk at all. However, with so many people clamoring for steampunk, perhaps they're thinking about it in a future IP, I guess? Heck, could even be for Dragon Age. Technology evolves, after all.

Weren't most of the images/screens they showed outdoors/wilderness? With seasonal changes? At a minimum that would confine gray/dark to interiors.
Inquisitor: Is that innuendo? Sera: No, it's at the front!

I was never sure whether that E3 footage was actually of the new IP, especially since some of the buildings looked Mass Effect-y and it came just after the Mass Effect part of the presentation. I could be wrong, but part of me thought that they were just showing more Mass Effect footage.
I mean, it's likely that it *was* the new IP since the voiceover at that point talks about it, but I would also be surprised if both ME and the new IP had a similar visual style.

Liam liamous It's one of the upsides of being on SecretIp. I actually get an unspoiled Mass Effect title to play again!
Elizabeth is Writing @animejune is it weird playing a finished game that you worked on?
Liam liamous Not really. We play it a lot leading up to release so by the time we ship, I know it so well that it feels comfortingly familar
Allan Schumacher allanschumacher It can lose some of its "new game" feel for sure. Load up DAO and get to Ostagar "Oh I played this 300 times...." hahaha
