Just a sec. I thought it's a collaborative effort between artists and writers.

Machinima @machinima Why you shouldn't keep using fast travel in video games ❌ (Turn sound on 🔊)
Mike LeBlanc @sith_Hunter I can say with 100% honesty that the traversal mechanics in @anthemgame make me avoid using any sort of Fast Travel as often as possible! Once all of you hop into a Javelin for the first time, I bet you'll all understand exactly what I mean
Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, KOTOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect Andromeda, SWTOR, Anthem, Mass Effect Legendary Edition
And i agree about fast travel. I don't remember using it once on the Batman Arkham games because "flying" around is really fun.
Same. Though traversal is just one factor that plays into it. Variety of environments, soundtrack, ambiance, not too many annoying/unavoidable enemies between points A & B...

While that's good to hear, I kind of want to tell everyone who writes those "no fast travel" articles to stfu. Who are they criticizing exactly, the game or the players? Because either there is no slow travel option or only tightly constrained slow travel options, due to the structure of the game (DA and ME, for example), or slow vs. fast is totally up to the player to choose. So are they saying DA and ME are bad games because they structurally make slow travel impossible (in some cases)? Or that players are lazy because they don't want to slow travel if fast is an option?
And anyone who thinks this "eat your veggies" scolding about slow travel is going to go over well with players, read the forum of any game that has delayed unlocking of fast travel, usually done by the game to force you to do some exploring first and appreciate their cool shit. There's just so much love for that idea. /s
For a game that I think does it right, NieR:Automata has no fast travel at first, BUT you do have fast "vehicles" you can use as an alternative to walking everywhere. Plus they made the "vehicles" fast, fun to ride and cute -- imagine Iorek Byrnison crossed with a Formula 1 racer and you get the general idea. And then fast travel is unlocked relatively early in the game, maybe after the first 10%.

Alain Baxter @alainbaxter It's Anthem Friday here at work and I just stumbled on a new small secret area that took me to this amazing [redacted]. *slow clap* Well done World Building team! I can't say much but I HAVE TO GO BACK WITH BIGGER GUNS! What else have I missed? #anthem #secretplaces
Michael Gamble @gamblemike He must be talking about the thing with the teeth

It's been ages since I've checked in on Anthem. It's a good thing I can drop into this convenient thread. Thanks, Hrungr , for being more tireless and dedicated than I could ever manage.
On the fast travel bit, I never realized that "there's a growing movement in recent years". Sounds dramatic! I rarely, if ever, use fast travel. Others likely live by it. Both approaches are valid. I like to soak in the experience. Some lack the free time or patience to do so, so fast travel will always have a place in these games. Concerning a Spider-Man specifically, Manhattan simply wasn't very big, in my opinion; and traversal was far too awesome to skip. The "Subway" trophy was one of the last I earned during post-completion mop-up . I actually thought, "How do I take the subway? Is it something I've missed, or is it just fast travel?" It was just fast travel with beautiful and entertaining loading interludes.

Michael Gamble @jenovascalamity @biomarkdarrah will there be any textures or color schemes that affect your visibility to the enemy? Or combination of the two?
Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrah No
Michael Gamble @gamblemike What the hell is going on here. gamble. You should know this.
Michael Gamble @jenovascalamity Well I was pretty sure that question was never asked, and with the amount of foliage and rock around, I thought it could be a cool feature.

Might qualify as an /r/woooosh entry.

The background was so realistic, I thought this was an actual photo of a palm tree someone had dressed up to look like an Anthem critter!
Indeed.
Sad that only a few with powerful game systems can view this high res pic it in all its glory. My rig will probably require Anthem graphics to be set to LOW.
