Remember the way we were supposed to unlock out javelin(s) (ie: via a quest(s))? The devs ran into balancing trouble as the Javs were unlocking too late.
Odd. This "unlocking too late" suggests that there is an end to the game, a point where they expect the average player to stop playing. Until now I thought that Anthem would continue to offer new or replayable content and challenges that would keep the player engaged long after the Dominion got their eviction notice, but I'm not so sure anymore.

Odd. This "unlocking too late" suggests that there is an end to the game, a point where they expect the average player to stop playing. I would assume the “late” they’re talking about is relative to the initial story and level cap, rather than a permanent limit on content. The expectation of all games of this type is that a lot of players will start playing, but only a loyal core will be staying consistently with others dropping in periodically when large pieces of content drop. The concern here seems to be less about longevity, so much as that they need to “hook” players at the start. It seems they are worried that some players might not keep playing long enough to get hooked if they don’t get access to the Javelin that appeals most to them fast enough.

I mean, who would want to play a multi-class game and only be able to play as a rogue for the first act, not have mage open up until act 2, then warrior in act 3? If warrior is your favorite, you might not stay interested or motivated enough to even get that far, especially when "forced" to play as a class you don't especially like to get there.

Makes total sense to me. Good on Bioware for fixing this before it even became something for gamers to bitch about. If I want Storm to be my main, I would have been bummed if I had to work up to it by first getting Colossus, then Artificer ... I mean Tracer ... I mean ....

All this tells me is that five months before launch Bio is performing balance testing. This "unbalance" discovery was presented to 'somebody" and this "somebody" bumped it up to the game designers which agreed with a "whoops... we screwed up... we need to redesigned how Javs are unlocked" and in turn the product manager said "yes, indeed this is bad... very bad and I'm so sad" and gave the go-ahead to proceed with the change. Or, the product manager received the bad news, consulted with the game designers and ended with the same decision.
All good for us, no? This brings up the next question. What is Bio's goal (item tests) with the public testing of the Beta if not to reveal the warts and barnacles remaining attached to the game and to remove them before launch??
Still, Day-0 patches is "normal" for today's AAA games. I expect no less.

Anthem combines third-person shooter and action role-playing game elements in a "contiguous open world" shared with Discord Adobe Reader iTunes up to three other players in which they take the role of a Freelancer donning fully customizable exosuits called Javelins.[1] These suits can be customized to have various unique weapons and superhuman abilities.[2] Two classes of Javelins were shown during Anthem's presentation at Microsoft's E3 2017 Conference: the Ranger, which is an all-around and balanced Javelin, and the Colossus, which is a larger and more heavily armored Javelin made to fill in more of a tanking role.[3] Other Javelins include the Storm, which uses powerful technology to unleash the "rage of the hymn" while floating effortlessly in the air, and the Interceptor, which is focused on close-quarter combat and can move quickly into and out of combat.[4] Players can build relationships with various non-playable characters, but they cannot establish romantic relationships with them, as was a trademark of previous BioWare games.[5] The central meeting point of the game takes place in Fort Tarsis, the central stronghold of Anthem. Built by the eponymous General Helena Tarsis, it serves as a fortified settlement against the threats of the outside world and is also the point where the player goes to receive new missions and freelance assignments. It is a melting pot where all the different factions of the game meet, including the Sentinels, Corvus, Cyphers, and Arcanists.

It appears that the Storm has Teleportation ability moving through space instantaneously to arrive at a new position nearby while in the air.
EDIT: How effective this ability is in combat remains to be seen. However, at first glance it's safe to bet that it is an easy escape mechanism. Its real usefulness depends on the count down/recharge timer.
