Yeah and none of it at all is because Bioware is abandoning their focus on single-player focused, narrative heavy rpgs that have made them famous for twenty years.
Yup, just petty focus on bugs
I don't think that's a fair assessment of BioWare though, because they've made multiplayer-focused games in the past as well, and there wasn't anywhere near as much fervor against them as there is now. I'm not sure why people forget games like Neverwinter Knights and SW:TOR, but those weren't centered around a single-player story either. Andromeda wasn't lambasted because it wasn't a singleplayer, story driven game. It was criticized because of how weak its narrative elements were, as well as the technical bugs. Considering that the three previous games (prior to Anthem) have been singleplayer focused (ME:A, ME3, DA:I), I'm not sure where there's this shift. The next two games are expected to be Dragon Age and another Mass Effect, and those will most definitely have a singleplayer focus as well. If this wasn't the case, and BioWare was shifting to a multiplayer, gameplay focus, they would have went the Fallout 76 route and just announce the next Dragon Age as being an online only MMORPG or something.
I think your main issue is that the caliber of their role playing and story elements - in recent years - hasn't been up to snuff versus their earlier titles. That to me is a more valid criticism, and one I'd actually agree on to some extent. This statement isn't directed at you, but I've found that ever since Blake Jorgenson made those comments about that Star Wars game that got reworked, people have now coalesced around this ideology that single player games were somehow on their deathbed; when that was far from the case.
TOR was built around the single player story, though. the entire critical storyline was built around, and balanced for a single player experience. One could say that The Old Republic, an MMO, is more a "classic Bioware" game than Anthem.
It's also not quite accurate to say Neverwinter Nights wasn't centered around a single player story. It allowed for player-created content, for single or multiplayer. This is something I don't think Bioware has done since, which is a shame. Being mod-friendly is really what keeps people (or at least, me) coming back to Bethesda games.
I maintain that a lot of the complaining about Anthem, and Andromeda, is from people seeking to damage BioWare. I don't know why the hell BioWare is under such a microscope when Bethesda remains king of the bugs. Fallout 76 will do well. There is no reason some animation issues should hold Anthem back.
Everyone laughed at PeeBee holding her gun backwards in a trailer. In Fallout 4 while Piper was my companion she had her pistol upside down, and wore a joker like smile on her face. She followed me like this until I just reset the game.
I'm not worried about Anthem having graphics issues or animation hiccups. It won't affect my enjoyment. Just like with Red Dead 2, which apparently has plenty of it's own issues, I see success of a game can depend on how peoples opinion of a developer is shaped, usually by other people.

Well, we really haven't seen them abandon single player yet. I can play all of their previous games by myself. Even in the pre extended cut me3 days you could just play horde mode by yourself and up your galaxy score. You can play Anthem solo. I rarely play Destiny with other people and although it is strange to see others running around the map, I still played it. They have to change somewhat, or they get left in the dust.

There is no evidence they are abandoning their focus on those types of games, that is just internet fear mongering. BioWare has been padding out the length of their games more and more because the internet has moronic measurements for what is a good value for their money. Mass Effect 1 normally only takes me three to four hours to complete when I play it now because I skip the majority of UNC missions, but in the modern era having a game that only takes that long will get lambasted because "not a good value for the money" for that is exactly what we saw with The Order on the PS4. Even with RDR2 the comments I am seeing is how many hours people are going to be able to spend playing the game in the open world and then how many dollars Rockstar is going to suck out them with multiplayer. BioWare attempted to bridge the two mentalities with Inquisition when they made the comment of "you can play it for 20 hours or 100 hours" to me was a signal they were aiming for both groups, but then there were BSN complainers about "the game only took 20 hours to beat".
I get that is what you want in a game and I can respect that, but companies do need to change focus or attempt to make aspects of their games appealing to people that are from other groups. If the people that wanted a BioWare game to have as strong of a narrative you want probably would not be able to sell enough copies to cover the costs of development. The overall sales numbers are showing that is what people are looking for in a game, they want a game where they imagine they will be able to spend dozens if not hundreds of hours playing and that doesn't fit with a game with a really strong narrative.

Meh, this isn't the thread for this kind of debate anyway. I'm out.

Manveer Heir said it was because open world games are easier to monetise.
Anyway Bioware has padded out two games. I mean, back when KOTOR was released Bioware addressed complaints it was too short compared with BG2 and said we're not aiming for length, this is the way it is now. They then released Jade Empire, and ME1, ME2, DA:2, and all those games that were typically not huge, 100 hour games. The only games they really padded were Inquisition, and Andromeda, about a decade after people started complaining their games were too short. So I don't think they're suddenly reacting to age-old complaints.
Before Manveer Heir made his comments, I would have suggested they're still desperately searching for 10 million sales, which has been their goal for many years now. Inquisition was obviously a reaction to Skyrim, and Andromeda ... well. But Manveer flat out said EA's pushing for open world games, so I guess he could be lying or fabricating stuff but sounds plausible to me *shrugs*

Isn't this the guy who is not working with BW anymore? And didn't various different BW devs came out on personal accounts and openly contested his statements?

I wouldn't know about the twitter statements (I don't really look at twitter) but Manveer was developing and working on Andromeda, and if during that time that was his experience then *shrugs*. That being said he was working on the Mass Effect side of things, which tends to be different to the Dragon Age side of things. So he may be taking his limited experience with ME and extrapolating it further than what should be the case. But I couldn't tell you. If you have Bioware twitter accounts that say he's wrong, then that should be pretty definitive I guess.

I can't say I've been following that guy - I only really heard of him because some elements of BW fandom and anti-fandom sometimes thrown his name around as an example of BW hiring questionable people, ostensibly because the guy trolled trolls back and made controversial statements every now and then. But I do remember that after the article some BW devs did say that his claims about the state of things in BW aren't accurate, though I wouldn't be able to tell you what exactly has been said.

BF V system specs are out. Read here, with 50GB of disk space and a recommended 12GB of memory and 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection.
I suppose Anthem's are similar. That internet connection......
That internet speed is about the entry level for broadband unless you are out in the middle of nowhere and have to deal with degradation for being so far away from a terminal point. If my memory still works from my college days that is just over 60kB/s.

Yes. This requirement does allow for a "broader player audience". Perhaps Bio should have said minimum 512KB/s . I wonder if a faster speed gives a player an advantage.
Morpheus: "know what happened happened and that it could not have happened in any other way".

o hell yeah, i have watch that video like 6 times already. i'm so ready to play this game. The Interceptor looks so bad A**. can't wait, just 114 more days to go.
question: will the Interceptor only have daggers for melee weapons?
glenn @hglenn252 Sorry guys I deleted the post. But I noticed that the storm did not in fact have infinite hover. It came out after a bit and after the shield dropped.
Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrah We recently changed this. It was too OP. We are currently limiting it with a very slow heat gen
