As someone who wants the game to well once it releases, I can't help but laugh at the shitstorm that's going down right now lol Yeah. I'm trapped at work, so not like I am struggling to get into the demo yet, but there's a bit of morbid humor I feel that apparently the crush to get into Anthem has taken down a ton of EA servers in the process.  (The morbid humor dies when I think of my poor BioWare dev buddies who are pulling their hair out right now, though. I have been through shitstorm disaster everyone-on-deck-or-the-thing-won't-happen days at work - most notably when we had ALL of our business software switched to a new parent company's software at the same time and everything went about as well with that as you can imagine it would... as in, metaphorical dumpster fires everywhere - so I understand some level of their pain right now. After months and months of little sleep from crunch on top of it.  )

Hrhr I wonder if they realize how much of a bad press this is. Yes, of course. No one is happy about go-live day outages, and since they doubled down on the PR for the demo, it’s that much worse. Whoever in marketing had the brilliant idea of giving away friend codes for the vip demo ought to be getting chewed out right now. And I’m sure someone in Operations pointed out what a bad idea that was some weeks ago, but was ignored. |

It’s the most predictable shitstorm there is. I know. I actually thought something like this might happen. Of course, the outrage clickbaiters will be churning out the videos about how BioWare and EA are all negligent/incompetent. Let them. Yesterday some of these guys were just straightforward making stuff up to stir drama. It's a good thing that this thing came up right now so they can fix stuff before next week demo and then release. A VIP demo extension or a small gift to make up for the wait is usually enough to placate reasonable people.

 One of the most requested features for games like this is crossplay. Where do you all sit on that? We're in the "pro" column. We want to do it. It's just not going to be there for launch. We're going to look into it a lot more, we've already been looking into it quite a bit. We'll have more news on that later. But in terms of how does the Anthem development team feel about it? We want you to play with friends, that's the thing about Anthem. If your friend happens to own an Xbox, and you happen to own a PlayStation, we still want you to play with your friends, so that's what we're going for. Do you see PC being able to interact with that at all?

Login Services + Other Services means what exactly? I think that relates to EA Account management, which the game has to talk to, to validate their VIP access. Mike Gamble implied there were issues 'related to' friend codes' and account management that were part of the problems. |
