Yesterday was rocky. The first day of our VIP demo weekend did not go exactly as we planned, and I want to share what happened.BIG SNIP

Now this type of communication is awesome!
To me, it goes a long way to mend fences. Thank you for being upfront.
Morpheus: "know what happened happened and that it could not have happened in any other way".
Now that I've played EA's curated chunk of Anthem, I can say at least that I will have an enjoyable experience playing the full game even if it isn't (and probably won't be to be honest) what Bioware has said it will be; a proper marriage between online co-op gameplay and compelling story integration.
I'll play it like I play Monster Hunter World: in spurts with new content.
Michael Gamble @gamblemike Lots of people asking to add fishing to the game.....
Lol. Fish simulator.
I wonder how fishing in Anthem would look like... Advanced noodling? Hovering above the pond until a monstrosity the size of a car leaps from the water to grab us?

I’d wrestle a sea monster if the k+m controls weren’t nearly unusable for swimming.

I wouldn't be surprised if they waited with underwater wrestling until they have kb+m smoothed out. Which, hey, live service - they can do that so long as people demand it loud enough.

We are continuing to track current issues for the Anthem VIP Demo and the team is working very diligently to quickly resolve them. Here's the current list of the most reported and known issues affecting some players:
Continued: 1. An infinite loading screen when launching the game or entering an expedition. 2. Inability to get past the Anthem title screen. (potential workaround below)
Resolved or Mitigated: 1. Some Xbox One players are unable to access the Anthem VIP demo. - Resolved 2. Rubber-banding during free roam and/or missions. - Mitigated (details below) 3. Second javelin not unlocking when reaching level 12. - Resolved (details below) 4. Inability to access their Anthem VIP demo friends codes. - Resolved (details below)
Potential User Workarounds & Details: 1. Stuck at Anthem Title Screen: One reason for getting this message is if you did not redeem your code on the correct EA account. If that happened, please follow the steps on this page. 2. Rubber Banding: We identified problems in our infrastructure that were causing some rubber banding. We have already made changes to our back end to improve the performance and will continue to do so over the weekend. 3. Unreceived Javelin Unlock Tokens: Most players should see their unlock token in the Forge now. Please let us know if you aren't.
Friend Code Redemption Workaround: 1. Clear your internet browser cache, OR go into incognito/private version of your browser. 2. Try to load the page again.
For those hitting an *infinite loading screen when you get to about 95%, we do have a possible workaround, depending on your situation. 1. Close the game client. 2. Relaunch the game client. 3. If it asks to rejoin the expedition press the indicated button to connect.
We will continue to update this thread with new information as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience.
John Epler @eplerjc No idea how well this works - but saw this as a suggestion for improving the KBAM flight controls. Disclaimer: I haven't tried this myself.
Ben Irving @benirvo My suggestion for flight and swim on PC is to turn everything up to 80% in settings. Then use smother movements on your mouse (as opposed to snap aiming when shooting).

I will be doing the happy dance (looks like I will have to buy the dance emote for my Javelins once the game launches).
I've been hit with it a few times in the demo already … plus "somewhere else"TM.
Also, will try the m+kb inputs … see how that works … and what tweaks I will need to use on my mouse gaming software … 'cause inputs I made there, to mitigate problems in-game will now probably be either unnecessary or overkill.
It would be really cool if swimming work properly.
Ben Irving's suggestion … sounds like something I'd get from EA tech support. And that is not a compliment.
PhansyPanda @phansypanda @biomarkdarrah Class specific gear should not roll off class inscriptions. Storm gear rolling Ranger grenade damage should not be a thing. Dont repeat the mistake of Diablo 3 vanilla loot.
Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrah Yup. Its a bug. Fixed for final game
Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrah If you are getting stuck not getting XP, you can try this: 1. Start a mission or stronghold 2. Kill some things 3. Quit out of the mission (not the game)
This should give you SOME XP. We are looking at other solves to get everyone their second Javelin
ForsakenSeraphim @forsakenseraph1 @benirvo @gamblemike @bio_Warner quick question. In the final release will all the gear items have correct primer/detonator symbols in the forge? I can't tell which primes or detonates until I go into freeplay. Lol. Thanks!
Ben Irving @benirvo Yes. We updated the icons also
Pete Smith @pasmith OK I tested. Private mission, killed one mob, exited. Zero experience, so looks like no experience per kill, only for completing feats (and of course mission exp). Can you confirm, @benirvo ? So i guess leave the wildlife be?
Ben Irving @benirvo Confirmed.
There are many feats that grant XP, including defeating enemies, using gear, using ultimates, defeating enemies with weak point kills, etc. This system is designed to reward good play and prevents degenerative/exploitative behavior by finding an enemy to kill over and over again
Why is something like that turned off in the demonstration of the game?
Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrah
Streaming issues
By which he means "content streaming," when the game needs to read new graphics content from storage into memory to display something new. The faster you move through a complex 3D environment, the more content you have to stream. BTW, this is also the reason why there was that stupid long walk from the great hall of Skyhold to the War Room, the PS3 couldn't keep up with loading new content without it, IIRC.
He didn't mean Twitch.
(PS, no #ANT?)

Inquisitor: Is that innuendo? Sera: No, it's at the front!
Dan Lowe @danlowlows The Anthem transition to flight may be one of my favourite pieces of gameplay animation and effects work ever.
There's just so much contrast. When the afterburners kick in, you go from nothing to this big flash that fills a 3rd of the screen in about 2 frames. By the time you’re out of it, the javelin is almost completely horizontal and much further away from the camera.
There’s this smoke cloud that follow the blast, which hangs in mid-air, so just for a few frames you have this spatial frame of reference for how fast you’re being propelled forward, then it’s off screen.
It’s all so fast it’s almost sub-conscious. It’s like being shot out of a gun. Everything about what happened is then communicated in the follow-through and how the character’s limbs sway as the character stabilizes into flight.
Also notice the camera work: You’re getting this big motion blur, then shake as the blast hits the camera, then as you transition out of it, you’re getting this subtle FOV shift into the flight camera, which reinforces the change in speed.
It’s great work, and likely took a bunch of different artists, animators and designers, working together to get something that felt right.
This system is designed to reward good play and prevents degenerative/exploitative behavior by finding an enemy to kill over and over again
Unless you are playing *against* other people, why would that matter?
From my perspective? People wouldn't be able to grind that way to level up or gather resources and and actually play with people or by completing content.

As it got busier it became too much work removing the hashtag from posts that quoted the tweets. I've been toying with the idea of doing the same as we've done in the Dragon Age forum - having separate Twitter & Twitter Chat threads.
fallen_one_wing_ @ianjenkins5417 @biomarkdarrah finally was able to play the demo last night and was halfway through the mission and my audio cut completely out and never fixed until I exited out of the game. Are you guys aware of this bug?
Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrah Yes. I think we have gotten this to resolve for the maingame. I believe it is an audio performance issue
