I wouldn't be surprised if we got a reveal trailer at E3.

Props to Bioware for keeping this really a #secretIP. I can't find anything good on this yet. And it sounds like it's well on it's way through the development cycle. I can't wait to find out what's coming next from them. We've got sci-fi (KOTOR, SWTOR, & ME). We've got fantasy (BG, JE, & DA). I'm thinking maybe supernatural? Or contemporary (like Alpha Protocol)? Although it's a new IP, I have to wonder if maybe they took some of the elements of the cancelled Shadow Realms and worked them into this new game?

Reading up on what Shadow Realms is on the Wiki page, the plot very slightly reminds me of The Longest Journey/Dreamfall. A game like that could have been interesting, imo it would be a waste if they didn't use any of it ever again.

They ran a sort of ARG campaign (I think it was for Shadow Realms?) that focused on a website for a university for people from Earth to study interdimensional magic and ancient civilisations and stuff. It was really well-written!

I dunno, we'll see I don't know, now that Bioware has expanded, they might be a "game a year" company instead of a "game every three years" company!!!!! That would be great.....games from the different locations. Ok, NOW I'm dreaming and far reaching.

That would be great.....games from the different locations. Ok, NOW I'm dreaming and far reaching. With a gap year here and there, it could happen. With three franchises being developed, That gives each one a three year window for development, but given how Bioware splits labor up between projects, we'll have times when one franchise is not making much progress at all as another ramps up, there will still be quite a few gap years. Still, it means we won't have to go more than a year (or rather, two) between big releases.

Ok, NOW I'm dreaming and far reaching. They've done it before. Heck, if you count major expansions AND Austin, they're releasing something every year! Inquisition to Andromeda was their biggest gap between major releases. But I think we can expect good things to come out of this. Or at least I hope so.

Sorry for the double post. But this got my attention from the Andromeda release: www.masseffect.com/news/mass-effect-andromeda-coming-in-march<SNIP> Over this holiday break, developers at BioWare took home a version of the game in what we call the “holiday build”. This is a longstanding studio tradition that goes back to the early days of the original Mass Effect. Many load up a PC or console and go home to play as much as possible at their leisure. Coming back from holiday, the feedback has been great. Getting the endorsement from members of our studio, many of whom played key roles on the original trilogy, was definitely a key factor in helping us lock in on the date. Which reminded me of some tweets that were made AFTER their last Milestone meeting: Sam @sammaggs Getting to play both the #SecretIP AND Andromeda? Merry Christmas to meeeeeeeeeeeeee Justin Edmond @iamsparkkieI would like to say “I played BioWare’s new IP!” on social media, and that’s ok as long as I obey the point about not leaking Hmmm... So it seems it wasn't only Mass Effect Andromeda that got a "Holiday Build". I might be reading too much into this, but now I'm expecting this to release at the end of this year. It was announced along with Andromeda, after all!

Seems possible, but I find it likely that EA will push it into early 2018 to lessen the gap before the next Bioware release, DA4, likely hitting us in 2019-2020.

It was really well-written! Thanks for the info, that was really interesting. I've been looking around for the websites in the hopes they might still be up, but sadly they're not. IGN still has some tidbits, though. The concept art and teasers looked good, too. I remember being really disappointed that it was multiplayer focused. I still think that's a pretty cool premise. I think that was the reason it was cancelled. Multiplayer games in general not being well-received at the time.

I don't, much of the DA team has been tangled up in working on the new IP and MEA, if DA4 has gone into full production, it was only recently as personnel came off those projects. DAI had a full three years in full production.

Let's not forget after all, that the DAI dev team had to basically create entirely new modules to actually start producing RPG's on that engine. That part is done, and further refined with work on MEA and Secret IP. I also assume there's also a plethora of quality assets created, and the whole underlying structure of the game is basically there. I mean, even if we assume that there'd be new things in the game, I don't think DA4 would be fundamentally different from Inquisition, gameplay-, graphic-wise and likely combat-wise.

As Heimdall points out, the bulk of the DAI dev team is still split between MEA and Secret IP, though that may change soon. So even now they're not in full production mode yet. And yeah, I would not expect anything less than 2 years of full production time, which puts us at least in late 2019 territory if not 2020. Add to that we don't know if the Secret IP still being in the works will mean that DA4 won't be able to run with a full production team until it wraps up, or if they'll do something else, like... pull people from the ME team.

With MEA being close to done I imagine some developers have already moved on to other projects. It seems the bulk of the studios focuses on whatever two games are closest to release, that's why the new IP is still apparently making a lot of progress. Optimistically, they could start full production this month as the company's internal focus shifts to DA and the new IP, though it would probably only really start to ramp up after MEA and whatever DLC they inevitably have planned for later in 2017 is out the door. It would be easier to speculate if we had a better idea of new IP's timetable.

Seriously, I'd brace yourself for a (late) 2019 - 2020 time frame. With Alexis Kennedy moving to BioWare this month, I assume this is the time they're putting together a Writers' Pit, with Devs trickling onto DA4 as MEA wraps up. That said, I assume many will need a serious vacation though (after so long a crunch period) before moving onto DA4. On the plus side, ME shouldn't need a full team to put out DLC (they could even farm that out to Austin as DA did).
