Perhaps take some time in a lower difficulty mode to learn how to play before jumping into a higher level then getting trashed and later claiming it is impossible? I did that before changing levels and i play the game quests alone except for the strongholds.
Fuck review. Fuck youtubers. Just buy the bloody game, play it and form your opinion and stop being a little bitch about "oh God I wasted my money".
Thats unwise advice because that way you end up with a lot of trash products you wasted your money and time on.
I don't have enough money to spend it on stuff I might end up not liking - before I buy stuff, no matter if its games, cars or what have you, I always check out as many different sources for information as possible to keep my frustration at a minimum. And in case of games that is reviews and demos.
That is true, but given the untrustworthy state of games journalism now and day, it's tough to even trust them.

Why are they untrustworthy? Do you have any proof to the contrary or is it just more speculation? You could've followed a lot of those journalist on twitch as they play through the full game. Whose review would you trust more...someone who's played the full game or someone who's only played the demo?

It’s not speculation, opinions between games journalists and gamers has been continuous for years from the Mass Effect 3 ending debacle where multiple games journalists were being condescending towards gamers for being “entilted” and of course the events surrounding Gamergate has effectively broken my trust with those guys. Anyway what’s with the sideways insult towards me? I didn’t create a review about the full game yet.

The big sites, like Gamespot, IGN etc, have a long history of producing biased reviews depending on whos buying Ad space on their sites at any given time.
That review, got Jeff Gerstmann fired from Gamespot, because the publisher threatend to revoke their access to review copies, and never pay for ads again. Some would argue it worked out for the better because the world got Giant Bomb out of this fiasco. That is why games never get ranked below 6 or 7 anymore, because publishers get pissy and threaten to take their "totally not bribes" elsewhere. This stuff happens all the time, this was just the one time such things got huge publicity.
Thats not even going into all the political BS that these people spew as gossple on a regular basis that very much so infects their reviews of these products.

Gamespot has form for rating BioWare below market review average. IGN has form for rating BioWare above market review average (though not this time).

Casey Hudson @caseydhudson Game development can be a harsh and emotional experience at times, but the support of so many amazing people in the developer and player communities is a powerful antidote. You inspire us to keep going! And we will.
Michael Gamble@gamblemike You bet we will.
It's funny - BioWare was not this humble when dealing with the fan backlash over the ME3 endings.

I assume one has an understanding of what they enjoy or not. One can easily dislike actually playing something even when people say it's great. So no it's not unwise advice. You are interested in Anthem. You play Anthem to form your opinion.
And frankly, a lot of the time the things that reviews and even demos show you aren't reflected in your experience. Crowdsourcing your opinion simply doesn't work.
For all the bugs I hear about Anthem, I barely experienced any myself (although I have had a random crash or two). I haven't reached endgame yet because I don't have all the time in the world, so complaints about the "grind" just don't exist for me yet. I actually talk to NPCs unlike many of these reviewers who often just jump from mission to mission. I mostly play Private so bad experiences with randoms doesn't affect me... etc.. etc.. etc..
If I had crowdsourced my opinion I wouldn't have given the game a chance because I'd have been concerned about things that never applied to my experience.

Crowd sourcing information and experiences to form an opinion before I act or make a mistake has worked really damn well in all aspects of my life so far, be it medications, buying stuff, visiting places....
If I have sources that have worked reliably the past few evaluations I do take their critics seriously, because according to my experience they have a similar taste likes and dislikes as myself. Also there are facts, for example I really don't care all that much about phrases like ''boy the shooting mechanic sux'' but I do totally absorb all the visuals and gameplay that is shown in combination with said opinion. Also when several independent sources I trust mention that the quest system is boring and bland and that it mainly consists of fetch quests, with some form of proof like showing several of said quests I too take that criticism seriously.
All this has worked well for me so far, most of the times I ignored this kind of research because I really wanted the film, game, tour, medication or whatever to be good I fell flat on my face because the critics and sources I trust were mostly right. 9 out of 10 times this was the case.
In fact this is an evolutionary thing, if your fellow cavemen -you know can rely on through past experiences- tell you that a particular route through the forest is infested with saber tooth lions today, showing me their scars and the blood, well, that day I take a different route for sure. No need to walk that route and get mauled only to find out that there are indeed lots of saber tooth lions that want to tear me apart. If people didn't crowd-source opinions and information and didn't trust said information at least a little bit there would be a lot less people around, lol.

For years, games journalists have been known to accept bribes, exchange favors for reviews, allow their political association affect their overall score for games giving the impression of pettitness. I don’t trust big corporations considering that they’ve been known to buy these games journalists for years:
Theres more events, but this was one of the things that stuck out to me with journalists allowing the corporations to influence them to get positive buzz.

We're talking about digital entertainment. It is far more subjective than medications and tools.
Vacation spots are comparable but again this is the digital sphere and is far less tangible and costly so it's almost a hyperbolic comparison.
You can't crowdsource your opinion on a game. It just does not work, because again your experiences are not likely to be the same as anyone else as you have a unique machine, a unique set of perspectives and goals, and a unique set of expectations.
When you latch on to other people's set of "uniqueness" you internalize them yourself even though they don't apply to you. This cannot be said for medications, tools, and vacation spots.
And worst of all, a lot of these "concerns" others may have may never be noticed or encountered by you. There are posts on the internet that can break down the faults with any book or movie that may have enchanted you in the past. The profileration of information, while beneficial, runs counter to entertainment as the "magic" of first time experience is lost.
There is a reason that people's standards keep rising and rising. Not only do people expect the game to work for them, they now apparently expect it to uniformly work for everyone else. Games have been buggy messes since time immemorial. The difference is that people are now aware of all faults at all times at all points of release There's something to be said about "Ignorance is bliss". When it comes to entertainment, does anything matter other than entertainment and having fun?
Would Dragon Age Origins have been as revered if people cared about every single bug that ever plagued it? Every glitch? That awful memory leak?
It seems that many people lose sight of why they play games in the first place. Sad truth.

And if talking about the games positives means you get labeled a shill like it’s happening in the Subforum then so be it. I’m like you that I like to judge products based on their own merits.
I am under the impression that shills vs haters is less about shills praising the positive aspects of the game, and more about them excusing the sheer amount and severity of negative aspects.
There are shills and haters, and there are people who legitimately like the game that get called shills, and people who legitimately criticize the game and get called haters. What's more, the haters attack the people who legit like the game, and the shills attack the people with legit criticisms. A lot of tarring with the same brush going around.

Fixed it for you.
Actually, forget facts. The new world order is that "TRUTH IS A DEMOCRACY."

Now: "If I'm arguing for it, I must believe it. And if I believe it, it must be true."

That's just basic psychology. If we state something, especially publicly, we become more compelled to adhere to and defend that position.
“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”

It's funny when people talk about gaming sites or Youtubers giving Bioware higher than the average score as Shills. You seem to change your tune about them though right? So which gaming sites are honest. You seem to know better than everyone else. This is a legitimate question that I want tou to answer.
