I kind of feel the same way, was also hoping for steampunk.

But, using a business-oriented lens, I think it's unlikely to be straight-up Sci-Fi, like ME or Destiny. That genre is oversaturated. Even COD is all Sci-Fi now. It wouldn't make business sense to aim a new IP at me-too status. They have to differentiate somehow.

Which is why I think the original guess at post-apocalypse/urban Earth makes sense. It's still Sci-Fi-y, but adjacent to rather than dead-on for traditional Sci-Fi. More of a shot at Fallout than at Destiny, since Bethesda is the much more cogent competitor than Bungie.

I still have hopes for urban fantasy or steampunk, but that's looking less likely from what little we have.

I still think they could do some interesting things with some post-apocalyptic sci-fi.

I probably whip out the Destiny comparison too much, but I did like the sci-fi fantasy approach it took to its lore, much as they failed to take advantage of it in the story. So, there are still interesting things they could do in that space.

ME was called a shooter, Jade Empire was action-adventure, SWTOR is a MMO, so tbh, BioWARE's not calling its game an RPG is nothing new, but they have released quintessentially BioWARE games each and every time they've released a game. Not once did they make something principally and completely different than BG1 since BG1. Well, maybe NWN1, but I hear the went right back to what they always did in the actual campaigns that they've called expansions.

I refuse to panic till I get the specific description of how the game works, what the protagonist is (or is not) and how it interacts with the environment.

Not necessarily. Lukas Kristjanson was working on MEA after DAI was done and still managed to squeeze in more time to write Sera for DA DLCs. So it really depends how much he'd be needed for MEA DLCs.

If you were to hype e3 when is the ideal time?

Bethesda seems to be doing the same thing however they teased a possible e3 reveal for 2 games

They've said the new IP will be released next March, so this E3 would be the time to do a reveal.

While I'm also still at my first PT of Andromeda, I'm at 80% of the game with only 3 priority missions and a handfull of side missions left and I can say:
I haven't seen anything like this in MEA.
That looks like a destroyed road to me tbh. :huh:

Doesn't look like anything from Andromeda, no. The bridge in the background, is that a highway? The creature in question still looks like a Krogan to me though.

It is most definitely a krogan, and the picture itself is just a 2D painting. It's likely just an early concept art for MEA. So just because we haven't seen anything like it in MEA itself means little.

We don't know that it will make an appearance.

We only know that EA gave March 2018 as a release date, which makes this the last E3/EA Play before release, so it stands to reason that there will be some sort of reveal even if it has minimal details.
