Should I buy all the add-ons for ME2 you can obtain through Origin? They advertise something called "Genesis" which supposedly allows you to transfer your ME1 end world state to ME2. Is that really needed to transfer your world state?

If you've played ME1, Genesis is not needed to import that save into ME2. If you've not played ME2 and you don't want to play with the default world state, you can use Genesis to manually make some of the key decisions without importing an actual ME1 save. Some of the DLC for ME2 is quite good and some is not so good. Some of it is free once you activate the Cerberus Network. There are two additional squad mates available through DLC - Zaeed (who should come with the Cerberus Network stuff) and Kasumi (her DLC is Kasumi: Stolen Memory). Each one comes with their own loyalty mission. The two other additional mission DLCs are Overlord and Lair of the Shadow Broker. IMO, both are well worth buying.

I access the ME trilogy via the Origin client/portal (whatever it is). I started ME2 but was not able to import either of my two Fem-Shep PTs. I bought some BW points to get Genesis, but I can't seem to access that either. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? As to DLC, what's worthwhile and what's not? Edit: When trying to import an ME1 save, it said something about a configuration utility?

All the playable content is worthwhile. Zaeed - the Price of Revenge, Kasumi - Stolen Memory, Overlord, Lair of the Shadow Broker and, most especially, Arrival (leads directly into ME3). Two of the DLC (Zaeed, Kasumi) give you new squadmates. For importing issues, there's a configuration utility in the ME2 directory. Use that utility to import all the ME1 game saves. Then fire up ME2 and follow its import procedures. Don't know the situation other than that apparently the save game files weren't directly compatible and the utility fixes that issue. Any time you do an ME1 playthrough you'll have to use that utility to make it accessible for ME2 import.

Thanks dmc1001 for chiming in. I forgot about Arrival. OP - yes, that DLC is well worth it as well. As for the import issue, I can't add anything there since I don't play on PC and things work much differently on the Xbox. I hope you enjoy your PT.

I'll start with your recs. Did you get the MEUITM mod to work on ME1?

I either have to download it again (internet is kind of slow so not sure I want to) or transfer it from old computer to new one. I've used MEUITM before. It's just that recently I ran into Origin changing my settings (I had it set to not autoupdate but then it changed it on its own) and then overwriting it.
