Like I said before, I can get past a lot of things, but one thing I can't is replay-ability. Unless I have a modding tool, there's not a strong connection to rerun another 100% completion run whether I'm a slave to my OCD or not.

Yep. As I've said repeatedly, "Hey, it would be an awesome game mechanic to disable saves when we need it most!" --Said no gamer, ever. I got so fed up with falling into the electric water, I cheat engined my health so I couldn't die and just let the wave pass, then explored. Kinda makes you wonder about the type of people the Jaardan were, and whether or not they had some sort of extragalactic equivalent of OSHA. I mean, there's super dangerous ferrofluid everywhere just out in the open and they apparently don't believe in guardrails or solid catwalks. If their society had anything like lawyers, they must've made off like fat adhi. The problem is Ryder just misunderstands the meaning of the vaults, it's just a giant lethal Jaardan version of American Gladiator.

I can't remember the last time I've ever gotten a 100% complete playthrough, but with MEA, that's technically impossible for me anyway. But generally it's to get as leveled up as I can in a single playthrough. The next time I do it, I tend to cherry pick the stuff I like the most or isn't the silliest (like putting some bauble or something on a cliffside). In ME1, I do one full completionist run so I have a full range of things to carry over to the next games big and small. Whenever I play again, I streamline the hell out of that because it's quite a chore to do a lot of that extra stuff again.

I know, but some stuff is so good you don't want to miss out on the run... and while I'm already there, I know of this side quest that's related here. Bioware gets that right for the most part, even through Andromeda. However, sometimes, it's just doesn't feel appropriate for the level of the position you hold, whether it being Pathfinder, Inquisitor, Champion of Kirkwall, Hero of Ferelden, Shepard, etc. I also bring different companions to the very same situations to hear their remarks. (Garrus, hands down, can own any scene anywhere, anytime. That's freaking awesome writing.) It gives me another look into their character and nobody else, except maybe CDPR, can even get close to that kind of character building.

I've read the thread, but I'm still unclear on what the issue is with this vault. Is it bugged, or do people just find it difficult? I really enjoy the vaults. They're a nice break from the more standard stuff. We fight some remnant, grab some swag, and run like hell while resurrecting a planet. The side puzzles often reward me with +2 Skill Points, which always seem to arrive at just the right time,

Enemies get thrown around or tossed around due to explosions, and get stuck in walls or under the vault or something and can't be reached. Since they're not all dead, the console interaction never becomes available.

Bug free, I get through it and I instantly doubt (there's my old friend, OCD!) that I finished 100% unless I'm mentally mapping everything which is IMPOSSIBLE in Frostbite's huge landscapes. (I must carry on, my OCD demands it.) However, because I'm re-running huge portions of the map over and over again to get through it, there's no mystery left (my OCD is appeased and irritated.) I'm staying true to make Ryder and it's been fun so far. I'm really appreciating the variety of the feel with the Nomad. Hands down, better... so better than the Mako. Soduko, I'm starting to lose my shit on that.

Since they're not all dead, the console interaction never becomes available. I understand. I've not had that issue with biotic-detonation survivors in vaults (yet), but I've experienced it in other locations. It's silly when you rag-doll and enemy into the stratosphere, or up and over a mountain, and they survive. Some consideration of physics should be involved. I know they don't want biotics to be OP, but come on... If I bounce a dude of a wall and down a mountain, I shouldn't need to track him and make sure he's dead. On Insanity, he rarely is. Soduko, I'm starting to lose my shit on that. I've been lucky to dodge bugs in vaults. I solve about half the remnant Sudoku, and cheat on the other half. It completely depends if I'm in the mood to do the puzzle when I arrive. I'm in my third straight PT, presently, so solving Sudoku isn't high on my list. (I do like the in-setting explanation of building a jardaan phrase/paragraph with these glyphs.) I have a page with all 20 solutions bookmarked on my iPad. It makes cheating quick and easy.

Then they're frozen and I can finish them... sometimes. CLEAR ALL ENEMIES. I DID! DAMN IT! MY OCD DEMANDS IT!?! I DID!... f**k... how do I get to your level?

Sort of on a tangential note here, but how is the Voeld vault working for everyone else? My first playthrough it was all cold hazard except for those heating bubbles, but on both my post-1.05 playthroughs the hazard is gone except for the very first chamber after the gravity well. I assumed it was a feature introduced in 1.05, since it was annoying as all hell when you had to thaw out in the bubbles all the time.

Like I said before, I can get past a lot of things, but one thing I can't is replay-ability. Unless I have a modding tool, there's not a strong connection to rerun another 100% completion run whether I'm a slave to my OCD or not. I can't remember the last time I've ever gotten a 100% complete playthrough, but with MEA, that's technically impossible for me anyway. But generally it's to get as leveled up as I can in a single playthrough. Whenever I play again, I streamline the hell out of that because it's quite a chore to do a lot of that extra stuff again. I always did almost everything in ME1... mostly because this allowed me to fill up both the paragon and renegade meter almost completely. Then that would give me much more leeway in ME2 to choose whatever and still pass most of the dialogue checks, because of the weird way ME2 calculates these checks.

I use the Lorik Qui'in exploit to max out both Paragon and Renegade, which unlocks both UNC: Besieged Base and UNC: The Negotiation. Of course, ME2 will just assume Paragon if you do this, but I like having both missions so it's all good.

Having to rush back and forth into the safe bubble while you are in the middle of trying to solve a complex puzzle in Voeld's vault is one of the more infuriating and questionable game design decisions I've encountered in a long time.

The Voeld Vault is Disgusting. This hazard is pretty annoying. That thing was just wretched. I ended up running around in circles for I don't know how long, going up and down the gravity wells, until I gave up and looked for a walkthrough on YouTube. Took me forever to finish the damn thing. Yeah, I know... Shame on me for doing this but there comes a time when I run out of patience and it's better if I cheat a little. Anyway, if Elaaden is just as bad, seems like I'm in for a treat! I was going to start doing the monolith and maybe the vault tonight but I just might wait a while still...

They offered pretty cool gameplay with all the platforming, a couple exploration based puzzles and a bit of combat. I thought it was good gameplay design and I also like their visual design. I didn't have bigs though and I pretty much went through them without a hitch the first time each. The no-save things is definitely an issue and I also don't get what the point of that was exactly.

Yeah I died alot in the vaults. No saving is dumb.
It's funny though. I did Kadara's vault and went to one side and got all this side stuff I never saw before.
Somehow I got stuck and could not find a way to the actual cleansing terminal though I could see it.
I was sprinting and jumping and almost making it only to die again.
Finally I sorta cheated. I found out you can just CHARGE one of the remnant to get across. Biotics are useful.
But hey..maybe that's how I got stuck the first time..not sure.
Anyway..second time with another character I just did the vault again and found I could just bypass all the extra stuff and go straight thru the vault.
The charge trick or asari sword can be useful. Won't help if obstructed or too far. Though if you shoot them first and get them activated you can charge them from pretty far away.
I think this works to charge to a roof or second level as well.
