my question is when we have the tech from the milky way to travel around in andromeda, why we dont need mass relays? in me1-3 we cant travel around galaxy without them, now our ship can fly around as they wouldnt exist in the milky way....
do they build another engine or something?

Cause the name Mass Effect Andromeda implys that the game is in the Andromeda galaxy, when in fact, it's in the Helius Cluster which is within Andromeda galaxy.
It would be as though the trilogy entirely took place in the Hades Gamma Cluster ( or any other cluster from the OT) It's a big cluster, but only a small fraction of the entire galaxy, so the mass relay system isn't required to travel between star systems.
