An ask and answer thread to answer your deepest questions about the series. Here are my two big questions, both from ME2:
The propieter of Saronis Applications on the Citadel jokes with Shepard about how most people don't know their software from their bunghole and Shepard replies "You wouldn't believe how many times my crew asks me 'why is the ship turning around, we're only halfway there!' " and the guy is like "oh I would" like he totally gets it and I... don't. Does anyone know what this is about?
Also, on Tuchanka, after killing the Thresher Maw during the Rite of Passage, Wrex says something like "next you'll tell me he's a "Clint" (?) and he craps dark matter!". What's a Clint? Is this a Krogan term of badassery I never picked up on?
Please end my pain and solve these mysteries. Feel free to share your questions as well.

I am envisioning a The Good, the Bad and the Ugly meme here. Clint!
Regarding the earlier quip, yeah I don't get that either; is there more context you can provide?

First one is probably referring to the time when the ship runs out of fuel when traveling between systems. You can be more than halfway between systems, then the fuel runs out and the ship goes "Nope, out of fuel, turning back. And I'm eating a bunch of your minerals as well!". Second one he says "Quint" which is a latin prefix for 5. He's probably referring to testicles (since they are generally referred to as Quad, which is a prefix for 4). Since fertility is so important to the Krogans, having one more than the usual four would be a sign of greatness. And crapping dark matter is just cool in general.

Armeni Armeni is a terrestrial world with an unusually thin atmosphere of krypton and xenon. Its surface is composed of silica with deposits of carbonaceous materials. The initial flyby probe of Armeni detected multiple areas at the equator with oddly regular surface protrusions. Closer investigation revealed these as millions of elaborate crypts a few meters below the surface, left by a long-extinct space-faring species called the zeioph. Many human universities wish to perform archaeological excavations. Council law holds grave sites as sacrosanct, however, and the matter has been tied up in court for a decade

That makes much more sense. You're probably right about the fuel joke. I'm super anal retentive about fuel and have only run out once so I wasn't thinking about it that way. Good work.

In regard to the first one, there's a codex in ME1 that explains it. When a ship enters FTL, it accelerates to the halfway point of the journey and then does a 180 and powers its thrusters in the reverse direction to decelerate. Basically, with all the inertia a ship generates at that speed, it can't just be stopped on a dime, so they do that maneuver to account for that while keeping the engines running at all times during FTL flight without overtaxing them. I probably explained it terribly, but I think that's what they are referring to.

'Constant acceleration is a proposed aspect of most future forms of space travel. It entails that the propulsion system of whatever kind operates continuously with a steady acceleration, rather than the brief impulsive thrusts used by chemical rockets — for the first half of the journey it constantly pushes the spacecraft towards its destination, and for the last half of the journey it constantly uses backthrust, so that the spaceship arrives at the destination at a standstill.' There's a C-Sec officer in C-Sec Academy in the room where Jahleed can also be found. He's sitting on a bench. He can talk to him but he only says hello, commander. Is there a quest associated with him? Maybe depending on your background? Or was he cut content?

The crapping dark matter was a nod to Futurama, where Turanga Leela adopted a tiny little alien Niblonian named Nibbler who craps dark matter when he eats a horrifying amount of livestock. It's a constant joke about who has to clean his litterbox because the dark matter is so heavy that a forklift has to be used.

Is there a quest associated with him? Maybe depending on your background? Or was he cut content? I've always wondered what that guy was for. That officer appears if the following is true during your second visit with Jahleed, after meeting with Chorban in the markets: - The "Scan the Keepers" quest cannot be active, either because you didn't seek it, didn't accept it, or canceled the quest by telling Chorban "No more." Note that a completed quest is still considered "active" with respect to this scene.
- Don't charm or intimidate Jahleed the first time you get the chance. Allow him to offer his bribe.
Then the officer comes over and asks "Is this volus causing you some trouble, Commander?" What happens next is up to you. Note: You can cancel the Scan the Keepers quest even if you've already finished it! Jahleed will offer it again and you can accept, but you won't be able to repeat it. Also: Even after the officer has been used he'll return to his chair for the rest of the game.

Mass Effect Mysteries! Why was the series written on the fly? Why wasn't it planned out more? Ha totally agree. The premise was fantastic but they wrote themselves into a corner with the Reapers. The ending would have been so much cooler of the Catalyst had woken up and been like WTF?! My Reapers have gone wayyyy off track. Or if the Reapers had imprisoned the Catalyst and the Crucible was a way of freeing it do that it could re take control and stop their madness.

An ask and answer thread to answer your deepest questions about the series. Here are my two big questions, both from ME2: The propieter of Saronis Applications on the Citadel jokes with Shepard about how most people don't know their software from their bunghole and Shepard replies "You wouldn't believe how many times my crew asks me 'why is the ship turning around, we're only halfway there!' " and the guy is like "oh I would" like he totally gets it and I... don't. Does anyone know what this is about? This refers to the fact that the fastest way for a spaceship to travel between two points in space is to accelerate for the first half of the distance and decelerate for the second half, if you have fuel enough to do that. With the ways spaceships usually work (assuming some kind of rocket engine), in order to end up with zero speep when you reach your goal instead of zipping past in ultra-high-speed according to Newton's law, you'll have to turn the ship around at midpoint and use your thrusters for deceleration. SF stories in visual media (including ME) usually fail to show this even where the lore would say that they should. Edit: OK, I noticed others answered this before. Sorry about the needless repeat.
