I found it! I found where PUGs get their info on the game! And threading through it was pure gold, I highly recommend giving it a read, I was laughing my arse off. Scopes are gud: www.gamefaqs.com/boards/995487-mass-effect-3/62378994Girlplaysgame: Plat Farming for PUGsHonestly, if you REALLY want to get inside the PUG mindset, Girlplaysgame is where it's at. Her "guides" are more often "ways to fail spectacularly" with a big emphasis on Exploits, Glitchers, and camping strategies like the Box Of Shame. Anyone else have some links to this sort of thing?

My first impressions (after chocking on coffee): - what's with the adding a scope to everything?! Did they not notice there's an entire special category of s n i p e r rifles. - a light bulb: so this is where the PUGs get their info before joining my games.

On the GE with Incendiary rounds, Extended barrel and mag, its actually Plat-viable. Just aim for headshots. Funny thing, it still feels like it's better than the Equalizer in ME:A. Still feels like you're killing stuff.

I get the feeling these guys are discussing SP, where pretty much anything goes. Yeah, it's pretty stupid by out standards, but it's an advice I would give myself couple of years ago, when I started playing ME3SP... for heavens sake, my first ME3SP character was infiltrator with Mantis and Avenger(possibly with scope), because weight mattered the most. First time I played engineer, she was carrying Mattock and Predator. These days, she runs around with High Lord.
Yeah, I know, killjoy. But I can't judge these guys too harsh... I was one of them, not so long ago, relatively speaking.

Oh, there are certainly better weapons for the GE than GPR, but I tend to have more fun when "nerfing" kits slightly. This is true more on gold than plat. Arc Pistol killing stuff too quickly? Carnifex is fun. Falcon is cool when you don't want to use the Venom, etc.

I was one of them, not so long ago, relatively speaking. Yeah, some of the posts seem to be SP-related, but others are definitely referencing MP. As I said in the shoutbox when laughing at this though "Narrative difficulty confirmed." Sure, Insanity isn't anything to us (Oh the OPness of Tech/Biotic detonations), but I still doubt most of these would work as claimed on any difficulty above Narrative. It's just sheer lunacy. And to take until the very last post on Page 3 for anyone to mention ANY sort of Piercing or Penetration? Yeah.... SP or not, Piercing/Penetration matters. Also, no matter what they're talking about (SP/MP), these are exactly the sort of shitty loadouts I see on PUGs, on all difficulties (I've seen Scope+Stability Mod on PPR on Gold).

They sure do like their scopes . And talking of scopes, this set me to thinking about what guns I'd use one on - Saber, Valkyrie (not that I dust it off often), Carnifex and Paladin, was the answer.

I'm in the mood for some double posting.
So I read a glorious "in depth guide" about character builds, and while it's not 100% insane I quoted a few lines that could help us understand the pug mindset.
"While powerful, the Inferno Grenade is not as good as the frag since it takes time to work."
[about the Tsol] "This class is one of the weaker soldier options, with three powers that share cooldowns and little synergy between the three. The stability bonus is really the only selling point on the class, and all of the Turians have it. Proximity Mine is a solid power, and the Turian Soldier isn't unplayable, it's just not good.""
[about the vorcha soldier] It's also possible to skip the Flamer and use ammo powers to set up the combos
[about the geth trooper] "Could also be called Geth Pyro. This rare unlock has two almost contradictory passive activated skills, and using both is improbable"
"Despite the tradition set in the previous games, there is no real reason to use a shotgun on any Vanguard."
"Like other Drell, the Vanguard has a higher base movement speed, half the usual barrier strength, and a higher base capacity for carrying weapons. Unlike other Drell, the Vanguard is expected to use the suicidally squishy shields at point blank range. While the character is playable, there isn't anything about it that's very good, and unless running a challenge there's very little reason to play this class. Don't play the Drell Vanguard."

Those do seem to explain a few things, yes. Those were painful to read. I cringe at how many people have taken this for granted. That website is USUALLY a good source of information, so long as you don't take it literally (I generally use it for lists in games, take the data, make my own interpretations), sometimes I forget how bad the literal advice is.

This is why people still play this game I can do things with certain gun/kit combinations that other people either can't or don't do. And it goes vice versa... There are so many ways to play. The new MP should have been a direct FB2 port of the old MP with new kits, maps and enemies. But thank God, we got jetpacks instead.

Yep, that might be an example on: How To credit-farm Die on Platinum.
added: I just find farming boring anyway, I play for playing, not credits only. But that's my personal preference.

I didn't realize this was clickbait? My title/link, "Girls play games?" could be said to be of the clickish baity variety. Yeah, I'm pretty sure she was deliberately choosing a clickbait domain when she started. Needed all the edge she could get with such PUGgerific crap on her site. Want me to add a link to it to the OP and start a collection of PUG Wisdom (Like I was hoping this would become, but people don't seem to be forthcoming with links)?
