I've become addicted to 'break down' videos on youtube. Don't even know what that is. That's social media's 'bubbles' in action. (beware of that 'thumbs up'-button) Meanwhile, I got my 5 miles walk today. I've been a bit of a whimp lately, regarding the weather. Okay these breakdown videos take an expert or two in a field and then break down either common myth or movies or tv representations with their speciality in it and then tell you if they did it right or if it was baloney etc.
So they will get a surgeon to review surgical things in movies and tv shows, serious shows and comedies and such. Or they will take an army sniper and have him review sniper stuff in movies and tv etc.

A good while ago, probably couple of months, I purchased Stellaris startup pack. Paradox gotta be one of the most annoying developers there are. Don't understand why I keep buying and trying to play their games. Well, I bitterly regretted buying the shit after my first playing attempt. Not the money, but the ~14 hours wasted on a game that completely bugged out with incomplete and unresponsive menus. Some time passed, and a few days ago, bored, I started a new game. This time I've avoided playing the game for too long sessions, suspecting it needs to be reloaded from scratch now and then. I've since encountered a small bug that seemed to confirm that suspicion. It didn't ruin the game and went away after reloading. Anyway, just minutes ago, I decided to continue my game, which I've played for a week or so. And Paradox have patched the game automatically, just as they usually do, and just as usually, the patch breaks all previous save games. Hurray. So they give a link to how to revert your game to previous version. I followed it. Not much explanations how to. But there was a link I clicked, with previous patch. Don't understand how that will work. Don't I have to reinstall the game and entire patch history? No info available. Anyway, something is downloading, but their server seems very busy, because I only get short blips of 50-100 Kbps. ...This will take a day, or a few. Edit: Yes, my suspicion was right. If I'd gone that route, I would have had to install the original game and then all the patches in order. But, you don't need to.There's supposed to be another way. I didn't find the suggested thread though. Unhelpfully, no provided link leads to it, and I can't see it on the Forum.Instead, I tried loading the game anyway. It maybe worked? Then I immediately saved it. Maybe works... We'll see.Edit2: Yep. worked fine. They seem to have said "may not be compatible with your save game". Didn't read it that way the first time. Did they change it?

Yeah, they any new Paradox patch for Crusader kings back when they were still actively making new dlc's to it, kept breaking one's earlier save games. It was helluva annoying. It's been much more enjoyable once they "finished" the game... after what three or four years? I suspect the same will apply to Stellaris.
I really love Paradox's Crusader Kings 2 (I especially recommend the "Elder Kings" mod), but boy, it's a hugely expensive game when you factor in how many dlc's there are. I did buy Stellaris, but "only" bought two dlc's... didn't play much. Like Europa Universalis 4, which has sat unplayed in my Steam library since 2016, it will just keep piling up attached dlc's, until I want to spend what spare money I have on the many, many, many dlc's that's been added since I bought it. Aside from the (very annoying, I agree) save game issue on patches, I haven't really experienced technical problems with Stellaris. But, like I mentioned, I also haven't spend many hours playing it.

Well, the patched it again today, but just a small patch. The game seem to function well enough now, but I'm puzzled by my science choices now. Seems I've dropped a few lines of options?

I learned something today, or rather re-learned it, because I have this strong deja vu feeling of that my physics teacher mentioned this, some hundred years ago.
Anyway, 'Ohm's Law' is not Ohm's law. It's Cavendish' Law. The same Henry Cavendish who discovered Hydrogen. Two years before the death of Cavendish, the younger Georg Ohm published his book on the mathematics of galvanic circuits, wherein he stated I = E/(r+R), which is Cavendish' Law as re-ordered and applied to the whole test circuit. And thus Cavendish Law: E = R * I, became “Ohm's Law”.

Floor dust and chords are annoying! I have no carpet in my house so I sweep up the floor. However in my living room I have so many electrical things that the chords get in the way and drive me crazy. This is a first world issue people, don't look at me like that! With that, that....dismissive sneer!

Weird day. Won in the lottery, but only 19 bucks. Work was a bore and could leave early because corona and the lockdown is hitting us really hard and there is very little business. I was also just informed that I won't have to come to work Thursday and Friday. Eh, that worries me a little. Lifted some weights but really didn't feel motivated at all, it was a hard chore and weights felt heavy. Cooked one of my favorite meals but it tasted mediocre. Now I'm sitting in front of my computer but I don't feel like playing any games. Can't do any online shopping either because my bank account is a sad place since I'm always getting bombarded with bills this time of year. Not sure what I'm gonna do the next couple days, can't really do anything due to the - you guessed it- lockdown. Weather is dreary too, rainy & cold with some mushy snow every now and then.

I managed to fix a major issue with one of my banks today. I've had this problem for many years, but never had time to grit down with it. Instead I've always chosen alternative solutions for my business and transactions. But all things comes to an end. More and more of these alternatives have disappeared with time and security developments. So one of my providers removed my last working option for payment, leaving only two services, one of which I utterly refuse to acquire and use, and the other which have never worked. - And time was suddenly an issue... So I dug down and went at it. It took me hours. Two different visits to the bank office, and +one hour on the phone with technical support. In the end, I was dismantling a piece of the bank hardware - on the phone with tech support - and we discovered something. A surprise. "T wo batteries you say? - WTF, there shouldn't be two batteries!?" The hardware was a very old model without the full planned functionality. ...And back in my head, there is this old, old memory, creeping up from the darkness of the mind: " This is just temporary model issue. You will have to come in and replace it when the full functionality is ready. Can't say when, but shouldn't take more than a few months. But you can use it with a cable for now, to log in." So I got a replacement and everything is of course immediately working as intended. A big relief and many issues suddenly solved. The new box is exactly identical on the surface. Exactly. But it's heavier, uses only one battery instead of two, and when on, you can see that the display is different. ...And all the buttons work!

It never ceases to amaze me when I realize that while I'm sitting here in snow and ice somebody else on the other side of the world is enjoying hot summer weather. This world is a strange place. As for my day, it was super boring and nothing noteworthy happened, but my deadlift session was amazing, bar-bending weights way beyond 220 kilos moved very easily and it was a lot of fun.

Wow this is for sure an Amazon record for me.
I ordered some printer ink cartridges and some strap on shoe/boot studs for walking on snow or ice last night probably around 7 or 8 pm.
Just regular free shipping, no extra priority cost.
And here they just arrived at my door at about noon today.
That is unreal.

You might be in grave danger and glitch out horribly at any moment. Also throw away your boots and the printer ink, that stuff is now probably horribly bugged and will suddenly disintegrate, explode or self-combust along with you.

I'm anxious to try out these ice/snow studs. The place i go walking hiking gets icey and slipper at times, especially lately. Not too bad on flat ground but there are some not log but steepish hills to navigate. (Almost killed myself on my last walk. )

My groceries were delivered today, but they made 3 mistakes. 1) They delivered sweet potato fries, which I didn't order. Company policy: I can keep them for free. 2) 3 products had a 50% discount, which was calculated twice, so it ended up as a 75% discount for those. Company policy: Our mistake. Don't worry about it. 3) They forgot to deliver my frozen goods. Usually they'll give you the money back at the next delivery. But I was lucky. The driver remembered me, because he said I was friendly and respectful to him, so at the end of his shift he brought them to me. Good service.

Ugh worst possible winter weather, freezing rain. Warm enough to rain but ground is still cold enough that as soon as the rain hits the ground it freezes, net result everything is ice, sidewalks, roads, everything.
I had to drop my truck off for a bit of maintenance and an oi change and only about a 5 or 6 block walk home, it was just treacherous.

I was once going to a BBQ and so I bought a nice steak and then thought I'd buy a bunch of shrimp for everyone to BBQ. I kind of misread the price of the shrimp and when I get to the till I almost choke at the final cost of my bill. But of course I decide I will buy them anyway even though the cost is way more than I thought I would pay.
Then I notice the cashier had scanned in the wrong price for the shrimp (there were two kinds of shrimp) and I comment on it in a polite way. A manager comes over looks at things, signs something and 'FREE SHRIMP!'
So the experience went from 'oh noes!' I have over spent to Booo ya! Freebies!

Magnus Carlsen of Norway retains his world chess championship in a totally dominating fashion over Ian Nepomniachtchi. What a beast on the chessboard he is. Yep, he´s still scary good . I watched quite a bit of it (on chess24, excellent commentary by Judit Polgar and Anish Giri btw). That was one very impressive win, especially in game 6 as MC was literally squeezing a rock and finally got his water from it after almost 8 hours of play. It was sad to see how Nepo fell apart at the end, I would have loved to see the match go on longer. But we have the annual Rapid & Blitz World Championships coming after X-mas, so maybe we will see some fireworks there.
