I didn't watch the opener, but, fuck every fan that booed the players standing in unity, there was nothing political about it and proves their outrage at Kaepernick had nothing to do with the flag.
Packers win didn't surprise me, Vikings looked structurally suspect to me and we have a lot of nice pieces. What was surprising was Rodgers looking this sharp again. It's been a while since he's looked this good. Coach LaFleur has definitely gotten the offense closer to his vision. Defense has the personnel but needs to get things cleaned up, they were really sloppy. 'Not convinced I don't fire Pettine midseason if it's not turned around by then.
I saw the final seconds of CHI @ DET. That dropped pass in the endzone by the rookie Lions RB (down 4 with less than 10 seconds left) was U G L Y
Watching TB @ NO, Brady has been pretty up and down. New Orleans looks like a team that has experience winning games, Tampa Bay does not.
Very interested to see McCarthy's debut as Cowboys HC. I enjoyed being a vocal detractor of his in his last season here, but that coaching staff he put together and the roster both look REALLY good. Dallas has to be the favorite in the NFC East.

The awful organizational structure.
The owners though well meaning know no more about football than the average fan and for sure have worse football instincts.
They have the coach and the GM report separately to the owner. They have the same power.
They often hire the coach and GM separately.
What they need is a long time vet NFL person that no longer wants to coach or GM be a president of football operations and leave all hiring and firing to that person.
An org structure like below is what I want to see.
Owner, president of football ops, GM, coach.
They were going to hire Matt Rhule (the guy who is no in Carolina) but they tried to force assistant coaches on him and he said forget it.
they then panicked and basically based on an unsolicited phone call from peyton manning pumping Gase they hired Gase who stinks.
I do like the present GM so there is a bit of hope.
